question about horse first aid kits?

Public Comments

1. Robinsons internet site good for most things horsey

2. Don't live in Scotland, but suggest you ask your vet.

In many cases, it would be cheaper to buy just what you need for YOUR horse from the vet rather than getting a "general" first aid kit.

This is what I did here in the US.

3. As is the case with human first aid kits you'd probably be cheaper to make one up yourself. Get a good quality plastic box with a water-tight lid. Add things like gauze, bandages, iodine spray, teramycin spray, thick wound pads and anything that your vet has given you so far. I have flamazine cream and bute in mine. If you want to buy one, try robinsons or ask your vet x

4. hi

robinsons is a good horse site
i dont live in scotland but i shop at ingatestone saddelry center this is a good place but in essex
if none of these options work then i suggest that you consult your local vet
good luck

zoe babe..x

5. I agree with the person that said to make your own, and buy your own plastic bin to put it in. There are lots of first aid lists on the internet. You would have things like towels, gaze, vet wrap, duct tape, cloths/rags, betadine, antibiotic ointment, scissors, etc.

6. I have made my own up and keep it in a decent air and water tight plastic tool box, i have wound cream, wound powder, purple spray, bute, gamgee, animalintex poultice pads(a nappy would do as a poultice in emergency), vet wrap bandage, duct tape-great for keeping poultices in place, a poultice boot, scissors...and my vets phone number.
I live in NE Scotland and have got all my bits and pieces from my local tack shop, vet and robinsons online.
Hope this helps you.
