Do you have to get retrained for CPR, first aid, and life guard certification each year?

Public Comments

1. in order to be certified in cpr you need to take the class every year.

2. For first aid with CPR needs to be re-certified every 3 years and I think you need yearly cerification for the lifeguard. I am certain for the first aid although i do not know if this apply to all states. I am from Singapore.

3. CPR certifications are good for TWO (2) years, not one. First Aid is the same but Life Guard I couldn't tell you... I was Dive Rescue (also 2 unless active with a team).

4. PhotoZ is mistaken in an important detail- Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer- the CPR part of Red Cross Lifeguard- is only valid for one year. Because of the seasonal nature of lifeguarding, the Red Cross requires annual renewals of the CPR and lifeguard portions, although the First Aid certificate is good for 3 years.

5. CPR certification is good for one year. First aid depends on where you take it from- it can be either 2 or 3 years. Red Cross is 1 year for CPR and 3 years for First Aid

6. I think CPR and first aid are for a year. Not sure about Lifeguard.

7. American Red Cross CPR Certification: 1 year CPR, 3 year First Aid
American Heart Association CPR: 2 year CPR, 2 year First Aid.

State Guidelines Dictate if you must have yearly or bi-annual training.
Rockfordambulance.com has cpr certification for you in Grand Rapids Michigan Area. Both American Heart or American Red Cross CPR Classes are good if taught by a Good CPR Instructor.
Thanks of Reading.
