Which first aid course should i do?
I am currently doing my GCSEs and i am firm on the idea of doing medicine at uni. I got told by a friend that you needed to do a first aid course to help you get a place at med school. I am not sure which one is best out of:
First aid at work, Save a life course, Emergency life support course, Basic first aid course, Practical first aid course, Standard certificate first aid course or inclusive first aid
Thank you

1. One of the best to have is the First Response. It's the course that teachers and leaders of outside school groups have and it's pretty basic and easy to get and to find.
2. This is a strange one, really I can't say. The reason im answering is because i have done the Lifesavers plus, and activity first aid. The best one ive heard of is first aid at work, i would suggest you get a first aid book and start reading it as there are a lot of precedures you must know when you get tested.
Remember, just think, when you walk out of your house and see a young boy at the side of the road, it will be YOU who is the first aider. You must be able to analyse the situation and make surveys of the area and the young boy, and try and find out whats wrong with him etc etc.
Its hard, and you need some confidence to be a first aider (which you will be if you get a qualification.) No pressure, just make sure you are familiar with procedures. Also if you dont like people screaming in pain, or others shouting and crying then this isnt your cup of tea.
3. I think your friend is lying to you!
but it is always handy to have done a first aid course - try the First Aid at work course it is the most comprehensive of all of them
