If I'm unemployed could I get a discount on getting a HGV licence or first aid course?

As I'm going for a job that requires me to fund both and at present I'm not signing on or anything.

1. First aid course is no problem, but you have to be joking about the HGV course.

2. i'll quote you the answer i recieved from jobcentreplus last week "we can only offer forklift course or the cscs building site passport" i said i'll have both and they said "sorry got to be in receipt of benefits" i think it was for 6 months.

as i was leaving he said the government has removed all funding and this is why they can offer nothing.

ive had no hgv work for 3 months, most of the people i know who drive are in the same boat or have been put on short time.

3. Yes, you can get help to obtain an HGV licence.

Contact Skills For Logistics via their website at

http://www.skillsforlogistics.org/en/

They're a government financed organisation and are involved in getting funding for drivers to gain the skills that companies need.

Also contact an HGV driving school near to you and ask if they can give you information about the grants that are currently available.
