Questions for American Red Cross volunteers?

I am signing up to be a volunteer ARC, for natural disasters and stuff like Katrina, I heard after signing up you go through training, what is the training like? what does it involve?
What should I need to know before signing up, and what are the requirements if any?
I am 18 yrs old by the way.

1. It sounds like you haven't met with anyone at your local American Red Cross chapter. There will be a little bit of paperwork that they will ask you to fill out, but it isn't much. Since your interest falls within Disaster Services, the very first course that you will probably be asked to take is called: Introduction to Disaster Services. It is actually on line:

After viewing this, you may have a better idea on how the organization works during an emergency response. But, more importantly for you, it will give you a better idea of what you want to do with the American Red Cross.
