What are the requirements to volunteer w. American Red Cross?

I am considering to volunteer with my local Red Cross org. What are the "requirements" in that position and where might I be needed (if I agree to travel outside my immediate locale)?
And do different Red Cross chapters usually "do" certain things that other Red Cross chapters do not do in certain areas / situations?
I appreciate any first-hand replies.
Thanks.

2. I am a volunteer with the Red Cross. If you become a volunteer on the Disaster Action Team, you can specify where and when you are willing to work and the type of work you wish to do. You can work within you chapter, your state, national or international. The first step is to sign up and to start getting the training for the type of work you wish to do. Once you become a volunteer, the training is free. When a disaster (fire, tornado) occurs, you would be asked first if you can help out. If you are not able too, they will ask the next person on the list. Definately visit your local chapters website or go to www.redcross.org for more info. Hope this answers your questons.
