2. who would need convincing? it is one of those " if i had to explain, you wouldnt understand " situations
3. I'm convinced. You got a plan? I asked a similar question. What to do in case. I got the duct tape and water answer.
4. i have one for my family already--hurricane kit:
canned food, lots and lots of batteries, lots of water, crackers, sleeping stuff, work gloves for cleanup, radio, small battery op. t.v...small generator, tape, garbage bags, colapsible dog kennel, tarps, candles, lamps==lots more but too long, and all this stuff could be used in case of other emergencies too.
5. All they have to do is go through a hurricane and I promise they will prepare. It's hard to predict a tornado so how do you prepare for that. My town took a direct hit from Hurricane Rita and all local communities had emergency plans but it had been so long since we had been hit that there was a lot to be learned. I can guarantee that the plans for this season were definitely tighter than ever before. It is no fun to try to evacuate with thousands of others and go only 25 miles in 4 hours. Its no fun to have your pets die in your car because they are too hot and there are no supplies along the way because everything was bought out already. It is no fun to have buses of evacuating people being met at the edge of town by the local police and be told to keep driving. And yes, all of the above happened last year and can be corroborated by many people. It is extremely aggravating to get within 5 miles of the cutoff to the road to your relatives only to be turned back by highway patrol because "This is not an official evacuation route."
