Our mission and role
"The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is the world's largest humanitarian organization, providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. "
Since there are countries that will only accept the Red Crescent branch and not the Red Cross in for aid assistance-should money contributed to the Red Cross be used to support the Red Crescent? The organization claims not to discriminate against religion.
Public Comments
1. Yes.
2. as the red cross supports blood transfusions, I adamantly refuse support of any of it's affiliations.
as of this moment, not only has the red cross not distributed the funds donated for "hurricane katrina", but also for the Tsunami of dec 26, 2005.
They are obviously a dishonest and untrustworthy relief group.
3. They mean "by their actions". Which corporate logo they sport is region-sensitive, of course. Not using a cross in Muslim nations is not discrimination, just adjusted communication. They will still perform the same services, and they won't discriminate between creeds of those they treat.
It's a bit like car brands. Vauxhalls are sold as Holdens in Australia, because Holdens are to Australians what Vauxhalls are to the British, but they are exactly the same cars.
4. The organization does its best to accomplish its purposes, even when discriminated against in some countries. If you cannot accept this practice of theirs, you should contribute to another organization.
