Why did the canadian red cross give out AIDS??

Why would the canadian red cross give out tainted blood in the 1980's when they KNEW it was tainted with HIV AIDS??
You don't believe me? I truly hope that is a joke, or you lack serious knowledge..

1. hmmmm, you don't provide any proof of your statement here, so I don't intend to believe you. Making such a statement of a question, and not providing at least SOME evidence of the veracity of it is not only irresponsible it is immoral and show a real lack of ethics.

2. good question
i dont think any excuse would be good enough to justify this so i wont even try to think of any.

3. It says in the article that the people in question were acquitted of criminal negligence, and admitted to supplying contaminated bllod products. But that doesn't mean they knew they were contaminated.
At the time, HIV was just emerging as a health issue; very little was known about it. Many HIV positive people donated blood without knowing they were infected, as they had not yet developed AIDS. And the risk of spreading HIV via blood was not well-known or understood enough to make testing or blood mandatory at that time.
As they didn't know there was a threat of infection, they couldn't be held responsible for the inadvertant spread of the disease (except by negligence, of which they were acquitted). Many people in many countries who suffered from haemophilia were unknowingly infected with the HIV virus from blood products. This was, of course, tragic. But it doesn't mean that anybody meant it to happen.
