Red Cross First Aid/CPR test?

i am taking this test today for a job i am working over the summer. The only problem is that I couldnt get into the 2-3 hour class, but the person said i could still take the test and see if i pass. I have the book manuel that they give out at the class, my friend lended it to me.

does anyone know how i should prepare for this/has taken the test and can tell me how it is set up? will i be ok if i just read the manual?

1. If you spend some time reading the manual, you should do alright. I've taught both, and with some studying most people can pass the test, with little or no difficulty.

2. Amanda C. - I've taken a course for the first level of being a "First Responder" for an Emergency Squad. I believe that the book part was simple. I believe that, without hands-on practice, you'll not be worth anything if called upon to perform CPR... and, that is where you will really make a difference!
If you are not invested enough to take a 3 hour class... maybe look at another job?
Otherwise, direct pressure on bleeding, don't try to correct fractures, call 911.

3. I read the Manual and it stuck in my head and I passed the test...It is a common sense test of what is in the book..read it Now...

4. The true American Red Cross certified CPR class is 4.5 hours, and the CPR/First Aid class is 6. You CANNOT pass it with just a written test- you must also pass the hands-on skills.

While some places and companies offer a Red Cross class that uses other standards- if they are caught doing it, they will no longer be certified to teach the Red Cross classes.

The written test, however, is mostly simple. Study the book and the test is in the back of the layperson's book.
