Is morphine illegal for medical use?
So, I have a First-Aid kit that I keep with me all the time in case I ever need it. It has the basic stuff; bandages, gauze, antiseptic, scissors etc., but I was wondering if it is illegal to have a syringe of morphine for use in emergencies (severe injuries) If it is illegal, what can I use as a substitute for a quick painkiller?
Alright. Are there any legal alternatives?
And Annie, I do have medical training (First-Aid, EMT classes etc.), although I had completely forgotten about the fact that some drugs can't be used in conjunction with surgery or other medical procedures.
Thanks for the help anyway.

1. Uh I don't know if it's illegal but that's a pretty weird thing to keep in a First-Aid Kit..... :/ I would NOT keep something like that in there !
2. It is not illegal for medical use if prescribed by a doctor. Without a prescription you could be charged with illegal possession of a narcotic if you are found with it.
3. Morphine is not illegal with a proper prescription but there's no way you could get one for a first aid kit. That's incredibly reckless and dangerous.
ADD: No, you don't want to be taking any "quick painkillers" in a trauma situation. Just forget it. If the injury is severe enough then you won't be feeling any pain because you'll be in shock, and if it's not serious enough to put you into shock then you can tough it out until you get to the ER.
ADD x2: And no, first-aid/EMT classes is NOT considered medical training. Not even close. If you think you've had medical training because you learned how to put on a bandage, you're going to end up killing yourself.
4. If you are not a licensed medical professional of course it is illegal.
ETA: NO! Not unless you are a medical professional. Even an aspirin could be a problem, if the person needs surgery you don't want them to have taken anything that would affect their clotting time.
Leave drug dispensing to those with a medical education.
5. Morphine is what is called "a controlled substance".
You cannot buy, sell or possess it without having a prescription for it.
