First Aid / Emergency First Aid?
Do you have to be certified in General First Aid first in order to be certified in Emergency First Aid? Thanks!

1. Yes.
Emergency first aid is more advanced than basic first aid. There is more too it and more involved.
You would NOT, however, be certified as an emergency medical technician. That is a whole different ball game.
EMT
2. General first aid is an 8 hour coarse given by the American heart association or by the red cross. Emergecy first aid (bad Name for It) or Emergency medical technician is a 140 hour, 20 week coarse usually held at a college that will certify you in "Emergency first aid" and qualify you to work on an ambulance.
3. I had to take my first aid and CPR before I could go take anything more advanced. I am an emergency medical responder.... EMT-B... and that was a requirement to get into school for the EMT classes. They want to know that you already have an understanding of the basics before they get you into the more advanced training. I would check at a college and see what they require you to have before you sign up for the classes. I hope that was the answer you were looking for. Good luck.
4. Definately! You cant jump from kindergarten to sixth grade.
5. Yeah, I am taking my First responder course right now and then getting my EMT. First responder is 48 hour course.I mean if you just want to know First Aid for like being a camp consoler or something like that then First responder I think would be a good choose for that. But if you want to do what I am doing which is Getting my First responder (I am still in High school) then going to be a certified EMT-B (Then later going to Paramedic) Then I would do that depending on if your still in school like me. If you are Graduated from high school and wanting to be an EMT you have to be CPR certified and you should get all your immunizations.
6. yes you do, you have to work your way up.
