1. You would have to check with the provider of the course you completed whether or not you will be a qualified first-aider. They usually send you a card (credit card sized).
However, If you know what you're doing there's no need to be qualified. Any help is better than no help.
Hope this is useful.
2. You can be a first aider whenever you render first aid, but 4 hours doesn't make you a certified one.
Here in the netherlands, for being certified you need a full weekend or 10-13 evenings to acquire the certification, and like 8 evenings or a full day per year to keep it valid.
4 hours of first aid sounds like it's part of the annual one-day training for "BHV" - it's the people who know how to evacuate the workplace and extinguish small fires. Every factory is required to have 1 or more BHV-ers on site during all working hours
3. 1. The YMCA , the Red Cross or your City's department of health (public)
2. Try your doctors' surgery will probably have suggestions.
3. No one offers free first aid course. i did a course for 3 months with college at st johns ambulance and it only cost about £15, i dont no whether thats because of the course i was doing but try there, their good and the certificate lasts for 3 years.
