What are some volunteer organizations similar to American Red Cross?

I plan to do a lot of volunteering over the summer but i cant really think of any organizations other than American Red Cross and Habitat For Humanity. Can someone help me please?

It is a consolidated website that takes into consideration your location (zip code), the distance you may want to travel, your interests, the various types of people or social problem you are interested in. It tries to make a match with agencies that have openings for volunteers. A list of opportunities come out each week - some are short term, others may require a longer time commitment on your part.

Many cities also have this type of service as well. If you go to your city or county government page, and locate "volunteer", it should redirect you to a local volunteer coordinator.
