Places to get a CPR and First Aid Certification?
I use to be certified from the Red Cross for CPR and First Aid but both of them expired so I got to get recertified. My question are their ANY other places that offer the certificate? I know American Heart Society does it. And I found some other classes that offer First Aid and CPR certification classes.
Does it really matter where you take the class? Or is the Red Cross the most reliable one? Theirs so many out where I live, I just want to know if its the same as Red Cross or if its different? Will it matter?
I just like to be certified to have the skill. Its a good skill that everyone should learn. Its not a hard certification to obtain and it looks good on a resume. Thats the only reason why I have it. I dont need it for work or anything. Im not planning on going into the medical field or anything either. I just want it for the skill thats all and I would like to keep it up to date.

1. This really depends on your workplace. The Red Cross and the American Heart Association classes are very similar, but there are a few small differences. Depending on your line of work, I might have the solution that you're looking for.
I highly recommend that you check out the following websites. ProCPR is gaining recognition all across the United States, and is a valid form of certification that meets or exceeds the standards set by the AHA and the Red Cross. The video training is all up-to-date with the latest 2010 guidelines (FYI: the prior update was in 2005, they don't do them yearly).

Since you're not a first time learner, but you current certification is expired, you'll need some hands-on training (or if it's been a while since your last certification). For this you can use Blended CPR to find a nearby skill evaluator to check off your skills demonstration worksheet that you can get from the above programs.

It is definitely valid and has been used by hundreds of thousands of people across the country, and is growing in numbers every day. You should definitely check with your supervisor, though. Depending on your line of work, it may not *yet* be accepted. More and more places are coming on board, though.
Edit: Since you just want to learn it for the skill, definitely take a look at the videos on ProCPR or ProFirstAid. The video training libraries are free, and you'll get a good grasp of the training.
