Why do liberals hate the American Red Cross?

The American Red Cross recieves no federal funding and provides support to the needy. The only way the needy can really be helped is with tax payer dollars. I just don't understand why those evil people at the Red Cross hand out food and water to disaster victims without needing a government official standing over them at all times. They aren't even unionized. How can anything get done effectively without unions and the government.
The Red Cross is a non-profit corporation and does have paid employees. My mother was on the payroll for over a decade at Red Cross.

Also, the American Red Cross is an organization, not a company so it doesnt need unions. the Red Cross, though effective, is by itself, no remedy for a disaster. As you have seen from the Japanese earthquake, the scale of the destruction is greater than the ability of a private organization to fix. That is why in every disaster, governments are the biggest responders. Charities and other relief organizations are second, though they are a big help.

Edit:
You still haven't refuted the fact that the Red cross by itself can solve disasters. You also are lacking the damming peace of evidence that explicitly says libs hate the Red Cross. Even if i conceded the points that the Red Cross does not have unions and is more effective than the government, you still lack the basis for your entire supposition.

6. Liberals like big government taking care of everything. The Red Cross is an example of citizens taking care of themselves without the government. Take for example the tornadoes in the south recently. Red Cross and Salvation Army is on the scene and working. No FEMA trucks yet.
