Should I get First Aid certification (to become flight attendant)?
I am interested in becoming a flight attendant; I have applied at a couple different places and received calls back. I'm also interested in getting certified in First Aid -- it takes one 8-hour class at the Red Cross to get certified. I just think it would be a good skill to have on its own, plus could bolster my chances of landing the F.A. job. But is it even necessary? Flight attendants have to go through a 4-week training period; I'm guessing there must be a good amount of first aid covered there. However, I would like to be certified whether or not I get the job. Any thoughts?

1. Certify AFTER training. Airlines do not always follow red cross procedures. So if you go in knowing "to much" you will have to forget that stuff to learn the other. Airlines want it done their way. If you try to be "helpful" by mentioning different or better ways to do things it will fall on deaf or hostile ears. You are a cog in a training machine. If you squeak a new cog can be found this after noon to replace you. FYI... Flight attendant job: No sleep, hotels, bed bugs, lay offs, labor managment striff, radiation, colds and viruses ALL the time, flying into dangerous hostel areas eg, Columbia, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Japan, New Orleans, Southern Cal. My training was 7 weeks btw.
