is there a law saying you need to do a first aid course before you go on any working sites?

my boss booked us all to do a first aid course without telling us, some of us have refused because of other commitments , so he said its not his rules if the law says you have to do it we will have to pay for it because he has already done so

1. No. First aiders are a requirement on site, but the number needed is decided by an initial risk assessment.
It is not a legal requirement for any one individual to hold a first aid qualification, and your employer can not make you take this course if you do not wish to do so.
