Emergency first aid at work certificate?
I did the training for this January of last year when it use to be a 3 year duration before expiry but last November they changed it to one year.
I called up the place that gave me the cert as i lost the old one and they say that i need to renew regardless. Im finding this quite difficult to believe can anyone give me a more concrete answer as i really dont see renewal necessary especially if the old one says 3 years on it.

1. Its really depends on the organization/institution certifying your certificate. If they changed it to yearly renewal, you have to renew it every year. Unless you decided not to be certified...
2. Just go take the course again. There have been new developments in first aid, such as the change to CPR: it is now just chest compressions, rather than including rescue breathing (since so many people are reluctant to risk a potential infection by giving mouth to mouth to a stranger).
If the length of certification was changed to 1 year as of LAST November, you are fast approaching the time your certificate would have expired, anyway. Finally, if you plan ahead and re-certify each year in the month prior to when your certification is to expire, you will never have a lapse in certification. (A selling point when negotiating for a pay increase or for a new job...besides, it can't hurt to retake the course.)
