Where do I go to learn how to treat injurys beyond just first aid?

I know all the minor first aid steps that must be taken if you burn yourself or are suffering from hypothermia (etc.) but I need to know how to deal with these types of injuries past those steps. Where do I go to find out what to do if reaching medical attention is absolutely not an option (eg snowed it, stranded, lost in wilderness,) Where do I learn the next steps to take in dealing with a situation such as a second degree burn? The last step is always "seek medical attention" but what do I do if medical attention is unattainable and I need to treat the injury myself?
Thanks for your help :)
I'm looking for a website - online information or maybe books I can get at the library. I have neither the money nor time to take profesh courses, haha

Public Comments

1. I've had a book it has loads of pages in it, just go to a library and ask for books from St John ambulance or The Red cross or you can just go on their website and find out.

2. My best guess would be books, online, library, or ask doctors. You could try looking up survival and first aid in the wilderness. Something like that. Here is one link I found. hope it helps.http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/wilderness/survival/first.htm

3. I've been interested in that too. The military has released some very good products about field medicine and survival. Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but you might find these links interesting:
