I need a name for a program/class I am starting...?

I work at a home for at risk teens and I am trying to start a new outdoor education style program. Wyndham is the name of the place and our school mascot is the Wildcats. The ideas I have had so far are "The Wildcat Explorers", "Wyndham Scouts", and "Wyndham Adventure Club". I think they are ok, but not great. A lot can be take from a name and I want it to pop and excite when people hear it. The following topics will be covered. Map making, map reading, familiarizing yourself with the trail, Knot tying + applications, what to pack when camping, water purification, wilderness tools, plant identification and uses, emergency shelter building, choosing a campsite, fire building(what type of fire for different situations), cooking in the wild, safety planning, basic first aid, and last but not least "Leave No Trace"/Trail etiquette. Any answers would be helpful I may use yours or it could be the spark that helps me figure one out. Thank you!!!

1. You cannot use the term "scouts" or "explorers" unless you set up a BSA program. They own the copyright. I am sure they would be glad to work with you to set something up and since they already have established programs, curriculum and camps that you could use it would be something worth looking into. Other then that the title "Wyndham Adventure Club" sounds good.

2. How about the Caveman Club? Because the other names you have suggested are astoundingly gay.

Its not like the boy scouts are going to chainsaw you if you use part of their name.

3. "adventure club" reminds me of that episode of south park where they go around molesting children, it's a parody of scientology... yeah no. don't do that. but I think "wyndham wilderness wildcats" has a good ring to it.

you do NOT have to ask the BSA to use the word "scouts." I know there's a pagan kids group around here that does outdoor activities, and they're called the rainbow scouts. so that's just fine.

4. Maybe something with Survival in the name...Out Door Adventures...Wilderness Survival Guide

5. I'm sure you have girls and boys, so your brainstorming ideas don't sound gay. Your program sounds great - skills I wish I would've learned when I was younger, and some I could use now! Have you read any of Tom Brown's books on outdoors, survival, etc? One of his books is entitled "Tom Brown's Guide to Nature and Survival for Children". Some of them are also more spiritual, but they incorporate the skills he learned as a boy for what he teaches and writes about now: The Vision, The Tracker, The Journey, The Quest, etc. Perhaps you could gain some ideas there? Other Suggestions: Wyndham Adventure Quest, Wyndham Nature Quest, Wildcat Tracker Club
Good Luck!
