What should be in a first aid kit for a very large family?

My family is going to make first aid kits for the house and car(well bus in our case). And where else should we have first aid kits?
Kids are ages 2-18. Mix of boys and girls.
What kind of stuff should we have in them?
We live in the USA
anything else?

1. Best thing to have in a first aid kit is the phone number for 911

2. lots of bandaids of course,any type of disinfecting cream(neosporins the best), also any type of gauze wraps, HOPE THIS HELPED:)

3. The first aid kit for the house:
Take a large shoe box(the kind that you can put big boots in)
a variety size of band aids (100 pck.)
45 yds of gauze
athletic tape
scissors
15 pck of tampons
peroxide
alcohol
antibiotic ointment
a table spoon
lighter.


For the car
everything that is in the home kit plus:
some emergency blankets(these won't fit in the box, put them in the back of the van)
a heavy duty light.
a hand held radio
a quick stitch kit(with instructions)
extra gauze
pain pills


The one for the house should go where everyone responsible enough to handle a first aid kit is able to get to it. Like, one of the top shelves in a closet, or on top of the fridge.

The one for your bus should go where you and the other parent can get to it fast. The blankets and light can go in the back of the bus though if you wish.

4. Bandages in a variety of sizes. Triple Antibiotic ointment. Alcohol. Cotton Balls. Gauze pads (variety of sizes). Medical tape. Latex-free gloves. Condoms (unlubricated - you'd be surprised what they come in useful for). Tampons (great for plugging a gushing puncture wound). Infant diapers / maxi pads (good for absorbing large amounts of blood and are clean). Duct tape. Flashlight. Tweezers. Steri-strips. Epi-pen. Benadryl. Tylenol. Motrin. Snap-on heating pads and ice packs. Adhesive cloth tape. Aspirin (heart attack first step). Scissors/pen knife. Thermometer. Thermal blanket.

That's what I keep in mine. One's in the house (with more extensive stuff) and there is one in each car. I can pack everything pretty tightly so it doesn't take up much room.

* bottled water (one bottle is plenty)

* emergency dental fix kit (you can get them at drug stores)
* emergency blanket (check sporting goods stores. These are lightweight and very compact but expand to be quite large and may come in handy if someone was in shock or you needed it in an emergency)
* bug bite/bee sting after bite stick
* card with phone numbers to the doctor and dentist including their after hours numbers AND the nearest hospital ER

For in the car:

* bandaids
* alcohol swabs
* gauze
* neosporin
* hand sanitizer gel
* card with numbers for your doctor and dentist
* plastic bags (in case of nausea or car sickness)
* emergency blanket (see above)
* instant hot/cold packs
* tweezers
