What should I have in an emergency preparedness kit?

For a family of 4.

1. Batterys, radio, flashlight, important documents etc: id, birth certificate....water and light can goods.
If you have a baby then , formula diapers...and so on....
But you dont make a huge suitcase....just sometime really light and put it in a accesable area
