How can I aquire a group of people that need to get CPR or First Aid certified?
I am an instructor and need a large group of people that are needing certification, like a day care or even a church, elementaries ect. Let me know please. Thank You in advance.

1. you can print up leaflets and put them up in various community centres eg, churches, doctors offices, banks and gyms/public pools. you can also put an add in the classifieds of the local newspaper advertising your services.
2. Can you offer a certification that will be widely accepted? A lot of independent instructors cannot, and a lot of their customers are upset when the cards are not accepted and they have to get recertified.
If you can offer valid cards, then prepare a small study for yourself- what can you offer that the Red Cross or Heart Association cannot? Are you cheaper, faster, better techniques, willing to do smaller groups, willing to travel, more flexible... why would a customer choose you?
(By the way, I have been hearing a LOT of independents lately asking their students to bring their own manikins. I think this is a really bad business decision.)
Now- what is your best customer- people needing Adult CPR, or Infant and Child? If you are strong on Infant and Child, then aim for the day cares, elementary schools, church schools, etc. if for adults, aim for businesses.
Prepare an introductory package, something like:
- Business card
- Sample instructional material (not necessarily the whole book, but some materials)
- Syllabus
- Reviews, references, and testimonials
- Coupon of some sort to encourage first-timers (enroll 10 people get one free, free office first aid kit with 12 students, or supervisors free with six employees, etc.
- Comparison chart why you are better than Red Cross or Heart Association
- Photos or videos of the class in action (and yes, I would do this both as a paper packet and as a PowerPoint or better yet, as a website.)
Companies are looking to save money- all of the CPR programs are hurting compared to a couple years ago. You've got to show them that they will spend less and get more with you, and it is even more impressive if you can show that they will save with you over time.
For example, a 2-year certification is automatically cheaper than a 1-year- fewer manpower costs, fewer man-hours, fewer class costs, etc. If you can do a renewal even cheaper yet- then over 4, 6, or 8 years they can see a huge savings. Document this and show it to the customers.
When your package and spiel are ready to go, prepare a cover letter that hits all of this in a couple paragraphs and a few bullet points and invite them to call you for an appointment to discuss how you can save them money and help them save lives.
The library will have books that help you do the marketing- choosing an audience, reaching the targets, etc. There are a lot of little tricks, and a lot of hard work involved but it can be worth it.
Or, you can just pack a briefcase and dress nicely and go store to store to sell the deal. Offer to teach a small sample right here, right now with the small manikin you have with you.
