What is the easiest way to get CPR first aid training?

I used to have my CPR and First Aid renewed ever year or two, depending on where I had the training (usually red cross or american heart association). i wouls really prefer to avoid actually going to a class. bot my certificates are expired. can i get certified online anywhere reliable?

1. You cannot get certified online. The CPR standards change every few years-hence the reason they only certify you for a few years- and there is no way you could perform the practical part of the exam. Call your local ambulance service non-emergency number or your local community college. Many EMT's and Paramedics are CPR instructors and may even have classes at no or minimal cost.

2. You absolutely can not get certified online. You need to be able to demonstrate you can perform the skills. Since you've been certified for years, you should know this. Just make an appointment with your local ARC by phone or online and go in and take the class. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer is like a 5 hour class. It's annoying, but you need it. I'm not sure about how long community CPR classes take.

3. It is my opinion that most on-line programs are more of a scam than a help.

While some companies really don't care and will accept almost any sort of card as a certification, most want you to have training that includes a properly certified teacher, a proctored test, and hands-on experience.

Be aware that at least some of the on-line companies offer cards that they 'guarantee' are the same as the Red Cross or Heart Association- but they are not and cannot be. Their fine print often says this as well somehow. Some of the on-line sites even guarantee that your company or school will accept their card- but I've never heard of anyone getting a refund from one when it wasn't.
