first aid kits?

what is the most important component in a first aid kit?

Public Comments

1. Gauze. Most causes for needing a first aid kit occur due to injuries where blooding is involved. Enouth gauze can stop the bleeding of a mild to major cut. A first aid kit would basically be useless without gauze.

2. well it depends on whether you made it yourself or bought one. when i was younger me and my mother made one together as part of a girl scout badge. but we added a lot of things to it. our most important component was the seat belt cutter.

3. Your knowledge is the main key. A good reference manual would be second and the most important element.

You can fake most of a first-aid kit. Wound cleansing? Soap and water. Bandaging? Wash cloths, bandanas, etc. Burn ointment? Worthless, toss it! Rubber gloves? For family cares, just wash your hands.
