1. You will need to check the legal side of things.
I am not able to do any work related things whilst on Maternity Leave unless I request to return from my leave early.
I don't think you would have to allow it, especially if she has not yet given birth.
2. in the UK you can actually work 10 days whilst you are on maternity leave (these are called keep in touch days), but your employer does have to pay you a daily rate for these (they don;t affect your maternity pay).
so potentially you will need to pay for a days work as well as the first aid course.
3. i would let her do it , you never know when your first heart attack might occur.
4. Well its not a good idea to go on a first aid course when your pregnant .I have been on one and you have to get down on your hands and knees to do the resuscitation and you have to lie down while someone practises on you plus there is a little lifting and moving of the patient. So not very comfortable for the mum to be .
edit
Who would be responsible for her if she hurt herself, or started labour. As I said these courses are not as easy as you think, whats the point in joining if you cant participate in the whole course.
5. I have also done a first aid course and banshee is right its no place for a pregnant woman .
Everyone has to practise on each other and you do have to get down on the floor and manoeuvre patients about not heavy lifting though.
