How could I start a program like this?

As many of you may know, I'm an RN and working on my MSN. In any case, I want to start a program within my town/state perhaps that allows teenagers the oppurtunity to get a hands-on approach at CPR, and some more advanced first-aid other than what the Red Cross offers. Such as Bag Valve Mask usage, O2 administration, and just a little more in depth stuff.

They of course couldn't get an official certification since they're not of age but... a lot of kids would be interested in that! What do I need to do?

Public Comments

1. I would go to the youth centers or places like PAL, some towns like River Winds in New Jersey have club houses for family and young people, I'd go to places like these and see who's interested, I'm sure a lot of teens would love to learn it. You know I just though of this why not contact the school nurse in your area and see if she would be interested to fit it in after school, or at free period.

2. Why not teach a class at a local community college? It could be a night course and would allow you to show the opportunity to teens who are interested. Maybe you could convince the college that it would be an introductory class to their nursing courses.
