If i get red cross certified to be a life guard...?

will i be lake front certified too? i am trying to get a summer job at a lake by me and the lady said to make sure its not just the pool certification... and that it is lake module.

the course is 31 1/2 hours... its 300 dollars... its cpr and first aid too.

i already passed the pre-test that was swim 300 yards, and retrieve a brick at bring it back in 1:40 seconds.

1. There are several types of ARC lifeguard certifications. The one you are referring to is simply the pool certification. You need a waterfront certification to guard at lakes. The waterfront cert covers you for lakes AND pools, but the regular one is just pools. The waterfront one is slightly different- for example the pre-test is a 500 yd. swim instead of 300. Make sure you get a specified waterfront lifeguarding certification. Ask whoever is giving the class if they offer one- or if you could come in an extra day to do the waterfront stuff. Basically for waterfront you learn to search for people without being able to see where they are (the water isn't clear like a pool)- so it is a bit different.
