Has anyone here been certified in CPR or Basic First Aid by the Red Cross?
I'm one of two "First Responders" on my shift at work, and we recently had to be re-certified by the Red Cross.
My only duty in that position so far? I got to clean out blood from one of our mixing machines at work (and off the floor!) after some tool sliced his finger on it. Of course, I also had to sanitize the thing as we are a pharmaceutical industry.
Anyone else here in the same position of First Responder at their workplace?
Thanks for adding to my poll's sampling.

1. I'm a funeral director and am trained in both CPR and St John's Ambulance First Aid.
It's served its purpose over the years.....people fainting, seizure, a couple of tumbles down flights of steps at the church, hyperventilation, etc.
It doesn't take long to get certified and I think everyone should know how to do basic first aid as well as CPR
2. yeah I'm certified as a "senior first aider" as well as "advanced resuscitation"
i have yet to put my skills to use apart from the occasional band aid here and there
it's great to know and believe more people should learn it
what if your mum/dad/sibling was to pass out in front of you and stop breathing? by the time the ambulance arrive they would have been deprived of oxygen for a good 10-15 minutes which then they would be technically brain dead (5 minutes no oxygen to the brain)
3. as an assistant in a classroom of children with autism,we have had to learn,CPR,bloodborne pathogens, and CPI(legal restraining of someone)...yay,I get to jump in whenever something goes wrong...ie..flying chairs,desks,books...
4. I haven't been CPR certified yet. I wanted to do it when my first nephew was born, and that has been nearly 3 years ago. I think its an awesome skill to have even if you never use it. It may come in handy some day. You've just inspired me to do research on getting certified.
5. Yes, CPR--I'm in the medical field
6. I'm certified in CPR....they offered it as a free course at an old job. It has actually come in handy twice so far in real life.
