Online CPR/First-Aid courses.. a scam?

I found out my CPR/First-aid licenses are ending a month earlier than expected so I'm a little pressed for time. I did a quick google search (initially looking for Red Cross course) and online CPR/First-Aid courses popped up as one of the top results.

Has anyone here taken an online course for these certs? It sounds really fishy to me, but I could be wrong.

Any opinions/past experience?

1. First aid courses could probably be given online, but CPR must be demonstrated to a licensed instructor, at least any I've ever taken. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...

Sorry...

EDIT: Where do you work? Many hospitals have instructors who work as RN's, techs, etc. who make money on the side by certifying other people in CPR. They do it in their homes or at the hospital, it's not really expensive, and it's quick. You might try calling the hospitals or clinics in your area and ask the RN's there who certifies them. Good luck.

2. Check with your employer. Many companies and school programs that require CPR specify whose training they accept. I have talked to a LOT of people who took an on-line class only to find that their employer or school did not recognize it.

Also- be aware that the Red Cross and Heart Association DO NOT support on-line only training for most CPR skills, so any on-line place that says it meets those guidelines is 'stretching the truth'.
