Anyone know of any emergency preparedness job openings out there?

I am helping my husband in his job search. If you know of any positions, please let me know! Thank you!!

1. I'm not sure exactly what an emergency preparedness job is but if he will volunteer for the Red Cross, it would look gook on a resume!

2. You don't list your location - I also lost a job in EM so I have been looking - the main ones out there are in Oakland, CA, Washington DC, or Salt Lake City, UT - usajobs.com has the federal ones, the compilation of jobs can also be searched on www.indeed.com. However, if he is looking for a government job - it depends on the funding from the feds and local revenues and might take a few years to get on track. If he is pursuing private business, the main direction would be to see the main employers in your location or state and go either directly to their websites, or walk in - in person to ask about their health and safety programs and response activities, if the people have someone - they might know of someone else in their city via business groups that has openings. Good Luck

3. Knowing where to look might be helpful. Don't rely on the Classified Advertisements of your hometown newspaper. EMTs and Paramedics are employed by local governments, hospitals, and ambulatory health care services. Apply for work directly at the places that employ such workers, like your local ambulance corps,
hospitals that are in driving distance, and the Red Cross.

Other related occupations include firefighters, physician assistance, police, detectives, and nurses or health aides.
