Are Jesus and Michael the same person? ?

(Mi?cha?el) [Who Is Like God?].
1. The only holy angel other than Gabriel named in the Bible, and the only one called “archangel.” (Jude 9) The first occurrence of the name is in the tenth chapter of Daniel, where Michael is described as “one of the foremost princes”; he came to the aid of a lesser angel who was opposed by “the prince of the royal realm of Persia.” Michael was called “the prince of [Daniel’s] people,” “the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of [Daniel’s] people.” (Da 10:13, 20, 21; 12:1) This points to Michael as the angel who led the Israelites through the wilderness. (Ex 23:20, 21, 23; 32:34; 33:2) Lending support to this conclusion is the fact that “Michael the archangel had a difference with the Devil and was disputing about Moses’ body.”—Jude 9. Scriptural evidence indicates that the name Michael applied to God’s Son before he left heaven to become Jesus Christ and also after his return. Michael is the only one said to be “the archangel,” meaning “chief angel,” or “principal angel.” The term occurs in the Bible only in the singular. This seems to imply that there is but one whom God has designated chief, or head, of the angelic host. At 1 Thessalonians 4:16 the voice of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ is described as being that of an archangel, suggesting that he is, in fact, himself the archangel. This text depicts him as descending from heaven with “a commanding call.” It is only logical, therefore, that the voice expressing this commanding call be described by a word that would not diminish or detract from the great authority that Christ Jesus now has as King of kings and Lord of lords. (Mt 28:18; Re 17:14) If the designation “archangel” applied, not to Jesus Christ, but to other angels, then the reference to “an archangel’s voice” would not be appropriate. In that case it would be describing a voice of lesser authority than that of the Son of God. There are also other correspondencies establishing that Michael is actually the Son of God. Daniel, after making the first reference to Michael (Da 10:13), recorded a prophecy reaching down to “the time of the end” (Da 11:40) and then stated: “And during that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of [Daniel’s] people.” (Da 12:1) Michael’s ‘standing up’ was to be associated with “a time of distress such as has not been made to occur since there came to be a nation until that time.” (Da 12:1) In Daniel’s prophecy, ‘standing up’ frequently refers to the action of a king, either taking up his royal power or acting effectively in his capacity as king. (Da 11:2-4, 7, 16b, 20, 21) This supports the conclusion that Michael is Jesus Christ, since Jesus is Jehovah’s appointed King, commissioned to destroy all the nations at Har–Magedon.—Re 11:15; 16:14-16. The book of Revelation (12:7, 10, 12) specifically mentions Michael in connection with the establishment of God’s Kingdom and links this event with trouble for the earth: “And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled. And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: ‘Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down . . . On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea.’” Jesus Christ is later depicted as leading the heavenly armies in war against the nations of the earth. (Re 19:11-16) This would mean a period of distress for them, which would logically be included in the “time of distress” that is associated with Michael’s standing up. (Da 12:1) Since the Son of God is to fight the nations, it is only reasonable that he was the one who with his angels earlier battled against the superhuman dragon, Satan the Devil, and his angels. In his prehuman existence Jesus was called “the Word.” (Joh 1:1) He also had the personal name Michael. By retaining the name Jesus after his resurrection (Ac 9:5), “the Word” shows that he is identical with the Son of God on earth. His resuming his heavenly name Michael and his title (or name) “The Word of God” (Re 19:13) ties him in with his prehuman existence. The very name Michael, asking as it does, “Who Is Like God?” points to the fact that Jehovah God is without like, or equal, and that Michael his archangel is his great Champion or Vindicator.

Public Comments

1. Well you said it all; Yes.

2. No, definitely not. You are really stretching it to believe that.

3.
No. St. Michael the archangel is Christ's servant. Not Christ Himself.

4. No, he's an angel. not God.

5. Why couldn't they have been working together in a simultaneous manner instead of being the same individual? What is the motivation behind this line of questioning?

6. One and the same.

7. Absolutely not. That is a new world translate version of the Bible.

if Jesus was Michael, don't you think he would've said so?

It is quite clear in the Bible that Michael is an Archangel.
It is also quite clear in the Bible that Jesus is the son of God.

So, are you going to go with what is clear? Or, a vague inkling of someone else's interpretation?

Oh hey that's nothing. There's another gospel (false) that states Jesus being Satan's brother.

Can't understand why some change the Bible around. Did they ever read Revelation chapter 22 verses 18 and 19?
I mean, there is a really heavy duty punishment that is very clear in these verses about adding changing or taking away of Scripture. After reading those verses in Revelation, I would be afraid to even read a false gospel, no less create one.

8. NO ... NO ... NO !!!! This is a common doctrine of the J.W's !!! The Witnesses use this bit of twisted scriptures to justify their belief that Jesus and Michael the Archangel are one and the same ! This accurately depicts what Paul, the Apostle made reference to, in regard to "wrestling the scriptures" to serve a self-promoting cause.
Denying Jesus as the Son of the living God is plainly, blasphemy ! No - Michael is not synonymous with Jesus !

9. Yes
Jehovah god created an angel and named him Michael
Then Michael made all other things including the other angels which made Michael the ArchAngel.

When he came to earth he was to be called Jesus or Emmanuel.

Since his resurrection he has a new name that only he and God knows. But we still call him Jesus.

10. I did not read all your post as I began to get a sick feeling at the twisted word of God by the Jehovah Witness. If you want to know the names of God's archangels of which there are nine then please read the book of Enoch which of course is probably forbidden by the JW.

Jesus tells us that God gave all authority and power to him..
Matthew 28:18 (KJV)
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Paul also tells of the power and authority of Jesus in Ephesians 1:21-22 (KJV)
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

So,
If you believe Jesus is an angel, then please explain this next scripture.
Hebrews 2:5 (NLT) And furthermore, IT IS NOT ANGELS who will control the future world we are talking about.

11. Are the archangel Michael and the Person who later became Jesus Christ one and the same?

An incident between Satan the devil and Michael answers this question. Notice: “Likewise also these filthy dreamers [wicked men] defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities [those in authority]. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil…about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord [Christ] rebuke you” (Jude 8-9). He could not have been referring to himself in this way!

Michael is a “great prince” who serves Israel (Dan. 10:21; 12:1). He has tremendous authority as an archangel. But his position is not one of higher rank than that of Satan. (As the only three archangels mentioned in the Bible, Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer [who rebelled, becoming Satan the devil] were each given authority over one third of the angels [see Rev. 12:4].) Michael showed respect for Satan’s position as the “god of this world” (II Cor. 4:4) by not rebuking Satan himself. Because Michael does not have a higher rank, he could not command the devil.

But Christ can command Satan. Notice Matthew 4:10: “Get you hence, Satan.” Christ created the archangel Lucifer, the one who later became Satan (Isa. 14:12). God used Christ to create all things (Jn. 1:1-3), including Michael. A creation cannot be greater than its Creator. Because Christ has authority over Satan—has a higher rank—the devil obeyed Christ.

Obviously, Michael and Christ are not the same. Michael is an archangel, a created spirit being. He leads half of the remaining, faithful angels in God’s kingdom. Michael and all other created spirit beings are subject to Christ’s authority.

Christ is the Supreme Ruler under God the Father. He is “without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life” (Heb. 7:3). No one created Him.

12. THE NEW WORLD TRANSLATION : HEBREWS CHAPTER 1 God, who long ago spoke on many occasions and in many ways to our forefathers by means of the prophets, 2 has at the end of these days spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things.

3 He is the reflection of [his] glory and the exact representation of his very being,(NOTICE THE COMMA < BEFORE THE WORD BEING)(PAUSE BREATHE CONTINUE)
and he sustains all things by the word of his power; and after he had made a purification for our sins he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty in lofty places. 4 So he has become better than the angels,(((HE BECAME BETTER THAN THE ANGELS))) to the extent that he has inherited a name more excellent than theirs. ((HE INHERITED A NAME MORE EXECELLENT THAN THEIRS)
5 For example, to which one of the angels did he ever say: “
(READ THE LAST LINE AGAIN)
You are my son; I, today, I have become your father”? And again: “I myself shall become his father, and he himself will become my son”?
(TO WHICH ON OF THE ANGELS DID HE ***EVER***
SAY? WHICH IMPLIES HE NEVER SAID THIS TO AN ANGEL OF ANY TYPE.)
6 But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: “And let all God’s angels do obeisance to him.” ((tHE ANGELS OF G-D WOULD DO OBEISENCE TO HIM)(I THOUGHT ALL WORSHIP WAS TO BE DIRECTED TO G_D ONLY, AND THAT HE WOULD NOT HAVE ANY OTHER G-DS BEFORE HIS FACE)( UNLESS LIKE ABOVE IT SAYS THE SON WAS THE EXACT REPRESENTATION OF THE FATHER'SVERY BEING AS STATED ABOVE WHICH IF HE IS THE EXACT REPRESENTATION HE IS THE GENUINE ARTICLE-G-D)
7 Also, with reference to the angels he says: “And he makes his angels spirits, and his public servants a flame of fire.”
8 But with reference to the Son: (NOTICE WHO IS SPEAKING HERE (G-D) AND HE SAYS:“God is your throne forever and ever,(WHO IS HIS THRONE FOREVER AND EVER?) (IT SAYS G-D IS)
and [the] scepter of your kingdom is the scepter of uprightness.

13. No.
Jesus loves you & died for you. He shed His blood for remission of your sins. Who do you pray to? Whose blood did you receive for payment of your sins? Who purchased you with His Own blood?
Michael the Arch Angel didn't die on the stake (tree/cross). Michael the Arch Angel has never died. He is a Son of God, since the Angels are the Sons of God. But Jesus is the Word of God in the beginning (Not one of the Sons of God, the Angels.) And the Word of God put on flesh & became one of us. This is when Jesus Christ became the 'Only Begotten Son of God' That is different. The only only one who has been born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit without sin. In the beginning the Word of God was with God & Is God with God. Jn1.

Two verses come to mind in Daniel & Genesis:

1. Daniel10:13, But, lo, Michael, one of (or the first of) the Chief Princes, came to help me...
Who was Michael helping? He was helping the Word of God (voice of His Words) described in verse6. His body also was like a beryl & His face as the apearance of lightening & his eyes as lamps of fire & His arms & His feel like in colour to polished brass & the voice of His Wrods like the voice of a multitude. Compare Revelation1:13-17 In Revelation He Is Jesus also.

2. Genesis18, 1, And the Yahweh appeared to Abraham... 2, 3 men appeared... 3, Abraham talks to LORD (Yahweh) as My Adonai (Lord).. 13, And the Yahweh (LORD) commented about Sarah laughing. 19,20,22 ...the men headed toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the 'LORD' (Yahweh). In verse 27+ Abraham calls the 'Yahweh', 'Adonai' in the discussion about anyone righteous in Sodom & Gomorrah. And the LORD (Yahweh) went on His way.
No one can see the Father, except the Son & the Holy Angels always behold the Fathers face. So? I believe this LORD (Yahweh, Adonai) is Jesus, the Word of God, not Michael. I believe that one of the other Angels (of the 3 men) is possibly Michael.

I am a born again, spirit sealed & filled Christian. I have prayed to Jesus & the Father about this. Michael is Jesus good friend. But they aren't the same person. Jesus is the Word of God & also the Word of Yahweh & Adonai in the Old Testament. When people have seen the Yahweh or Adonai, they have seen the manifiestation or person of the Word of God.

There is no place in the bible that writes that Jesus is Michael the Arch angel. I prefer to believe what the Spirit of Truth has shown me over what man's reasoning is when I see man's reasonings not compatible with the Gospel according to the Bible.

14. How is it that Michael and Jesus were both on the earth at the exact same time?

Look into how Michael contended against satan for the body of Moses--so that Moses could be at the transfiguration...

And yet Jesus was on earth at the same time! (Two separate beings there)

I have written an entire blog about how Jesus is NOT the archangel Michael.

No angel could ever die for the sins of the whole world.
PLEASE READ HEBREWS ONE. It VERY CLEARLY STATES JESUS IS NOT AN ANGEL.

Thomas declared, "My Lord and My God!"

15. Yes, Jesus and Michael the Archangel are the same person.
