Do you think that first aid courses should be made compulsory? Gemma Houghton, 15, said she had a "feeling" that her sister, Leanne, needed help and ran upstairs to check on her. She found her lying lifeless and submerged under the water after suffering a fit in the bath and losing consciousness. Pulling her from the water she used her first aid training to restart her breathing while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Paramedics said that her swift actions undoubtedly saved her sister's life. "By the time we arrived she was coming around after her sister had administered chest compressions," said Steve Pearson, a paramedic who attended the incident. "It is quite simple, if Gemma hadn't have been there, Leanne would have died. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/5036835/Twins-sixth-sense-saves-drowning-sister.html

Are there any types of scholarships, financial aid, or fee waivers for summer courses you take at a college? I am a high school student who would like to take on more challenging courses next year, and I would like to take some summer courses in the classes that I would like to knock out. However, I realized they're far over my financial capabilities. Are there any types of financial help I can get besides getting a job? I already have one, but it doesn't pay much and I don't have too much time to spare to get another one. Does anyone know if they offer scholarships or financial aid for these summer courses?

Does any one have any tips that has already taken it? What should I focus on? Should I memorize numbers?
Does financial Aid cover summer courses? I filled out a fafsa and got aid for fall and summer semesters. I want to take a summer course to get it out of the way. First aid courses for toddler care? My son is more reckless than the average toddler. At 17 months he can scale pretty much any piece of furniture in the house, his latest thing is to dive off the couch with his hands extended to try to do a handstand/flip. We have tile, he's already hit his head once, but that didn't deter him. Our pediatrician says that he's seen children like my son before and he's likely to have a broken bone or two in his youth. I'd like to try to take some first aid courses just in case, so I can do necessary things while waiting for an ambulance. And of course I'd hope to be able to help him so that an ambulance wouldn't be necessary. Any suggestion on what kind of course to take/ where to find one. I know I want to take CPR but I'd also like something broader than that.
If I do a first-aid course will it look good on my personal statement to universities? I will be going into pyschology... and i have 2 more years before i finish school and head off to uni. Is it even relevant to what skills they will want to see in my psychology course? Answers from people who know what they are talking about please! (I don´t want to pay for nothing/waste my time)
How do I apply financial aid for summer courses? I filled out a fafsa and got aid for fall and Spring semesters. Do I need to fill out another application for summer aid? . I am an out of state student (U of G) but I want to take summer courses in my state-Rutgers Univ. Which school should I apply for aid thru? U of G or Rutgers? I want to do First Aid Course ? I want to take up a first aid course, but not just for CPR. Preferably for a variety of emergencies, but not to advanced. Are there any places that offer these sort of courses for free or little payment. (I am 16 if that could be a problem.)
Are there first aid courses without touching? I was recently offered a spot in a first aid course. It was paid for, so I said sure. When the class started though it turned out you'd be constantly putting your hands on the other students, holding their heads, a lot of touching. This really creeped me out and I had to leave the course. I figured they'd use dummies or something to show 'hands on' stuff. I was not about to spend a whole day getting that intimate with a bunch of strangers. So does anyone know of first aid courses where you don't have to touch anybody or have them putting their hands on you? It would have to be in Vancouver B.C. For the record, I have no interest in first aid at all, and I have no expectation of actually using it. It's just something an employer might want to see on a resume, and I am unemployed and desperate for work.
What First Aid courses offer useful training in my area? I live in the Lincoln area (Lincolnshire, UK) and i am looking for First Aid Courses that I can work my way up through from level to level which could offer me eventually physical experience if I volunteered somewhere. I am 16 years old and in the future I am looking in to going to university as a student nurse and joining the T.A's medical services. You ofcourse need experience to join the T.A and they do consider student nurses but I am looking for (if possible because of my age) to do some physical volunteer work whilst I am at college before I apply for uni, if you get where I am coming from? lol I have just started college and I am studying Health and Social care level 3 which cover core units of effective communication in Health and Social Care, equality, diversity and rights, health, safety and security in care, lifespan development, anatomy and physiology, sociology and psychology and a number of hours on work placement, there are also optional units like supporting adults and counselling skills. The level its at is A-Level and I have a current basic first aid certificate which runs out next year. Anyway, is there any ideas on what I could do? lol sorry for babbling :) xx
Basic and Emergency First aid courses in Birmingham before the Army? I joined the Army a few months ago and I'm going through the process at the minute. As I've joined as a Combat Medic, and I've got some time on my hands before I begin training, I thought getting in some experience would be great. I've tried the St Johns Ambulance and the Red Cross, but they have nothing in Birmingham. Free would be preferable since I'm unemployed at the moment, but charges will be just fine. I'm not too sure where else to look and Google isn't being much help either. So, if anyone could suggest some places that do Basic and/or Emergency first aid training (or something similar that would be helpful with my chosen career) in Birmingham that's also open to the public, I'd be incredibly grateful. Thanks.

Do I have do anything else to become an instuctor and teach my own pet first aid classes? How do I give my students their proper certification? ALSO, if I dont want to start a business with it right away could I still give classes?
How can you practice first aid? I've taken alot of the first aid courses and I feel very comfortable with all the procedures and material. The only thing is, is that a practice scenario is very different from a real life situation. I was wondering if anyone knew of any sort of volunteer or paid position (such as university first aid teams) that often dealt emergency situations. I really want to help people but I want to do more than I already am. Basic info about me: 18 years, gr.12, and a lifeguard (my pool doesn't have very many situations)

Im 15 years old and i'm hoping to take a lifeguard course in the summer (I will be 16 then) and wanted to take a first aid course now, as an extra qualification and to help in get me some part time work in the summer. What should I bring to a Redcross first aid class? I am taking a first aid course at Redcross this weekend and I was wondering what I should bring with me? It's 10 hours, so I assume I should bring food? Is there anything else I should bring? Also, what will the day be like? Will there be only one break, or multiple? Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

International first aid courses? I want to study medicine at university when I'm older so I thought I would do a first aid course. Only problem is, I live abroad (Belgium to be precise) so I was wondering if there were any organisations that do first aid courses (in english) around the world? Also, is 15 old enough to do one?
Where to do first aid courses in the UK? I'm 16 and I really want to do a first aid course because i'm interested in doing medicine. I thought that doing a first aid course would be different to anything i'm already doing, such as volunteering in an old peoples home. Where do you do courses, and is there any age restrictions on them? Thank you.

Do they have the Mental Health First Aid course in England? I have an online friend in England. I was telling her about this great training course I went on last year called Mental Health First Aid, or MHFA for short. It taught me how to spot someone developing a mental health problem and what to do to help. My friend is interested in going on the course in England. Do they have it over there?
What are some questions you get in First Aid Courses? I'm doing a First Aid Instructor course and I need to have 3-5 questions for one of my homework assignments. What are some commonly asked questions you are asked in Standard First Aid or Emergency First Aid courses by the candidates? Answers too!

My employer does not provide this for anyone except medication training; which is what l have done. l am looking into first aid and they're all around £200 for a 3 day course! ls it worth paying this price at all? ls there a chance of going to a service that provides it cheaper or maybe free? Thank you in advance.
