cpr and first aid certification Knowledge Base
Where can I get certification for CPR and First Aid? I want to take a CPR Course with my brother (who wants to be a cop) and get my CPR/First Aid Card. However, I'm not sure where to go to find this sort of training. I have talked to the Red Cross, but the only one in town is sort of run down so I'm looking for other ideas? Do you have CPR/First Aid Certification? Can I get this from a local fire department? Thanks for your knowledge! We are in the Vancouver, Washington area. (sort of near Portland, Oregon)
CPR - First Aid Certification, where can I go to get them other than Red Cross? A few years ago when I taught Pre School we always had a slip of paper that had a long list of classes for CPR and First Aid. Now that I'm no longer teaching I'm wondering how I get that same list of classes offered (many more than just at the RedCross). Does anyone know how I can find a list of classes in the Cleveland area?
How to get CPR and or first aid certification, etc? I live in NJ and am in High School. I would like to be certified in CPR and First Aid and ANYTHING ELSE I CAN. How would I go about doing this? Again, beside first aid and CPR is there anything else that I can be certified in? Lastly, I do NOT want to be an EMT at all, I want to become a surgeon, but that is beside the point so just answer my question please.
First Aid, CPR and AED certification question? I got training in first aid, CPR and AED in the state of Florida,i just wanted to know if those certification is valid to be used in other states, or do i have to get re certified in New York, that's the state i live in now.
is this for real, cpr and first aid certification? http://www.firstaidweb.com/first_aid.php I would like to babysit.. could I hang this certificates on my wall.. or better question should I? I thought the only way to be CPR certified was in the Red Cross, thanks!
CPR & First aid certification...? Did you get certified in 1st Aid and CPR before the birth of your child? I definitely recommend it now if not. I got certified, coincidentally, while I was at Academy to be a police dispatcher when I was about 4 months pregnant. I have to be honest that I kind of forgot everything lol but I had to get re-certified this week and it's amazing the things you wish you knew! I made my husband come to work and take it wish us and he's pretty glad he did. He didn't even have the slightest clue how to perform basic life-saving functions on our daughter if she ever needed it. 'WITH' us, not 'wish' us hehe.
CPR and First Aid Certification-10 pts!? I was cpr and first aid certified and I just realized that my certifaction has expired... is there anyone who can tell me exactly how to get recertified in the austin texas area?? thanks!
CPR/ First Aid Certification (10 points)? I'm 14, and I'm hoping to make a few bucks babysitting. I live in New Jersey, and there is no hospital, college, or Red Cross around so there goes that idea. I already missed the classes at my school so it's too late. I really need this. Please, and ideas would be great! Thank you!
CPR and First Aid clases at the American Red Cross? So how does the whole CPR and First Aid classes at the American Red Cross thing work? Like what kinds of things do they teach you? And what does First Aid and CPR certification allow you to do that people without certification cannot?
CPR/First Aid/AED Certification Online? Is there an online course that will legally and legitimately get you qualified for CPR, First Aid and AED? And I'm looking for like a beginner course, not a renewal course.
First aid and CPR certifications online? I ran into a few websites that offer free first aid and CPR certifications online, do people really honor these? They say their standards are the same as the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association, except for the fact that you do all the training online.
Where should a Wanna-Be Cop get certified for CPR/First Aid? I want to take a class on CPR and First Aid with my brother. My brother is wanting to be a cop within the next year. So, I am wondering where is the best place to go to get certification in CPR and First Aid? We are in the Vancouver, Washington area. Any additional certifications you would recommend for a police force hopeful?
Where can I go for a free First Aid and CPR course (online)? I am about 15 years old and am trying to get a certification for CPR and First Aid, but everywhere I go, I can take the test free and the certificate is what costs. I would like to know where I can go for a free certificate along with a free course. Thanks!
CPR and First aid course? I signed up for a Red Cross first aid, cpr, and aed course. The whole course is 8 hours. Does anybody know if those 8 hours include taking the certification tests? or will i have to take the certification tests on my own?
where can i get first aid/cpr training? I live in Woonsocket, RI. I can't seem to find out where I can get certified. Local hospitals? The YMCA might have it available in September but I'm looking to babysit a few children and it seems a lot of child care providers have this certification. Where are they getting it?
cpr certification for ems? My cpr card is long expired, (I obviously haven't been practicing as an EMT for awhile) The course I initially took was, I swear, about 3 hours long. I think we just learned the basics without the aed.Now the choices I'm faced with include adult cpr/first aid, adult cpr w/defib. skills, adult/child/infant cpr, etc... which one do I take? My EMT cert. luckily isn't expired, but I'm in another state+don't know if they're just going to make me take the whole shebang over again. How do I find out if I'm on the national registry?
I have cna, patient care tech, home health aid, cpr, and phlebotomy certifications will it b easy to get a job? Lady just because the girl you know cannot find a job that is her. That does not mean that will happen to me. For your information CNA really in demand. I refuse to let your negative opinion dissuade me from chosing this field as a career. So your opinion does not really even matter to me. And lady you do not know me. i have no infractions on my license. I have never stolen anything from anyone in my life or commited any crimes. You do not know me from a hole in the wall. So you cannot say whether i will get employed in this field or not.
First aid training questions? I've got a couple question relating to first aid training. 1. I've got CPR certification and in the course, we went over AED stuff, not for certification though. If AEDs are so easy to use, why are there certification courses for them? What do they cover in the course, its really straight forward, isn't it? You do what the machine says, right? 2. How long/much $ are AED courses? 3. What more do BLS courses cover than CPR/AED courses? Don't CPR/AED pretty much cover basic life support? 4. How long are BLS courses, how much $, and is there an age requirment? 5. Just curious, how comprehensive are EMT-B (Basic/1st level etc) courses, how long, and how much? I'm in New York.
What do I need to do to get Certification I and II for working in childcare...? And where do I go to get started on this? I have over two years experience as a nanny, as well as many years as a babysitter, but I am thinking of working in a childcare center. Most I have come across require Certification I and II, and some require first aid/cpr (which I know I can get recertified through Red Cross). I can't find a site that talks about the required certifications, though. Any help appreciated!
What steps can I take to become a nanny? I have the basic childcare skills- younger siblings, cousins, etc. I can easily get a first aid and CPR certification, but many of the ads I see for babysitters and nannies want extensive experience. I understand the parents concern, of course, but I obviously can't get experience without a job. Are there classes or something I can go to that might help my chances? I love kids and think it's something I would be good at.

What training/visa requirements do i need to become an au-pair? Im a 22 yr old college graduate, and I really hate my office job. I have a passion for taking care of kids, and Im thinking about becoming an au-pair in Europe. As an American, I know that there are certain things I need to do before that can happen, but I really dont know where I should start. I have CPR and first Aid Certification, but I know that I gotta have more knowledge in order to be accepted by a family. Do au-pair classes exist? I bought a book entitled "An Aupair & Nannies Guide To Working Abroad", but I would like to know if there's a class thats offered before presenting myself to any agency. Any suggestions? Please help.
How can I become certified in CPR and First Aid? I need my certification in CPR and First Aid before I can start my new job. I have looked some Red Cross centers in my area, but there are no classes available in the next two weeks. Where else can I get a valid certification? (I'm from NJ if that helps!)
Is it the same to get your CPR/First Aid certification online? I am thinking about getting CPR and First Aid certified online, but I am not sure if it is the same as if I took a class in person. Has anyone taken one of these classes? If so, and you recommend it, where is a good place to do it? I was previously a lifeguard so I have been certified twice before this, so I am very familiar with how things work.

Is the website CPR PROFESSOR legit? I need to get cpr, first aid, and aed certification. I don't have time to make it into a classroom, so I must do it online. I just want to make sure I don't spend my money on something that isn't legit.
In home daycare? I'm starting an in home daycare in a very wealthy area. I have many years experience in child care and now have a child of my own. I love to teach but can't bear to leave my child so I decided to do an in-home. I'm wondering if there's any advice anyone can give me when it comes to rates. I was planning on charging MORE than the local daycare facilities because of my low ratios, credentials, curriculum, cpr/first aid certification and fingerprint clearance card. Any suggestions?

Do US police officers get a good lifetime pension and good lifetime health benefits after 20 years of service? Hi all! I'm 29 years old, never been married, no kids, and I'm college educated. I really want to pick a professional work career very soon. I have an Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I live in Baltimore, MD. One of my major goals in life is to financially retire at age 50. I plan to work until my last day on Earth but I want to have a steady pension and annuity lifetime income always coming into me every month after I hit 50 years old. With the bad economy, I can't count on Social Security or even a 401k plan. Other than working for the US federal government, I know I can retire as a police officer after 20 years of service. I already have 11 years of commercial security experience under my belt. I'm at a point in my life to where I know I have to make up my mind within the end of next year to figure out what I want to do as a career so I can start out my life and plan for my own retirement. The one thing that keeps me from being a police officer is the danger attached to it, such as getting shot or even killed chasing after losers and criminals. I'm in great health, have CPR/First Aid certification and like to work with others. Here's my question. Do US police officers get a good lifetime pension and good lifetime health benefits after 20 years of service? Any answers would be appreciated! Thanks!

first aid question? I am state certified in CPR and First Aid, I don't know how to look for this so, would anyone happen to know what kind of jobs i could get with this certification? If you know could you please list a few jobs that require it. thanks
can I get some help!? I am supposed to write a paragraph about an important event that has a large impact on me, that happened to me in high school. this is what I wrote: An important learning even for me would be in Sports Medicine, when I got my First aid/CPR certification. The knowledge I got from taking First aid and CPR classes will stick with me forever. I will continue to take classes after high school. I feel that it is so important to know First aid and CPR. You never know when you might find the knowledge useful. It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry! THIS is the example(I'd like mine to sound more better, like this one): As a student, I would describe myself today as an independent and practical individual. For math and the area of doing equations, repetition works well for me. It also helps me to read and article or piece over a couple of times, to comprehend the content fully. There are exceptions, though, and oftentimes I catch on to a concept or idea the first time through. If I am forced to really think about something, repetition helps me understand it more quickly. A perfect example of this would be reading Walker Percy’s “The Loss of the Creature.” Percy’s writing almost requires you to employ repetition to comprehend it; since Percy’s abstract thoughts are way more advanced than most readers are used to. After reading through Percy’s essay numerous times, along with some outside help from teacher and student alike, I slowly began to understand his elusive theories. This event, like many others, has influenced my ways of thinking and has solidified my route of learning through repetition and mimicry more. my event was becoming certified. do you think that would work? or should I change it?
What would you pay a nanny? I'll be working 45-50 hours per week: Monday & Friday all day and Tuesday-Thursday evenings, plus 2 Sundays a month (just to get the kids out of the house and give mom and dad some "me" time). One family I'm interviewing with has a 5 year old and a 6 year old (both girls), the other a 15 month old girl. The job would continue through the holidays and summer, with no pay change. I would also be grocery shopping, cooking dinner, etc. Less than $800/month would be a pay cut from my job now, but is that too much? Other friends working as nannies make $600-$1100/month. I've babysat for 10 years, worked in a state-of-the-art day care for 2 years, and I know CPR & first aid (although my certification ran out a few months ago, willing to get re-certified). Oh, and a little background info: I am a 22 year old UTSA student majoring in ECE. I used to be a CPR instructor, and I've had blood borne pathogens and SIDS training also, along with other day care required trainings.
Summer job for college student? I am home for the summer and trying to find a childcare position f/t or p/t but am failing miserably because I don't have cpr or first aid certification. What should I do? Online job sites are not helping... I need to get a job before highschool lets out because they'll take everything!!!!
doing daycare out of home, how to? Thinking about doing daycare out of my home, just a few children a month, not too young probably 1-4 years old, and quiting my part time job. I have a 6 month old daughter and thought i could have a better income, less gas, etc. if I did this. I haven't ever taken care of children since I was 15 and now I'm 27. Should I get my CPR and First Aid certification and just post adds? Do I have to be licensed with the state to do this? Have any of you done this or do this currently?
I failed Lifeguard Training? I went through 4 days of lifeguard training, passing all the written test (CPR, AED, and First Aid). I ended up failing my water rescue scenarios. I asked if I could still get my CPR/AED/First Aid certification, just not the lifeguarding one and the instructor said no, should I contact the management?
I want to start a Babysitters Club much like the books, how do I go about it? oookkk. I want to start in my area a Babysitters Club for middle schoolers and high schoolers. It'll be also like mentoring program, and a tutoring program. We'll take trips, do fundraisers, etc., while providing a service for parents. I was initially gonna start it within the military families in my area, and my local church...Here is how I was gonna start it... - Every new member will recieve a Babysitters kit (made by me)which includes, a tell-all book, info, Kid Kit, etc -Initally membership is $10.00, which goes to CPR and First Aid certification and babysitting course by Red Cross. -We will have meetings 2 times a month, and when we have meetings we talk about new business, making of flyers, redoing Kid Kits, creating t-shirts, planning of trips, fundraisers, or more fun babysitting courses, sharing experience, etc, and eating...lol... -It is for ages 11-18, although, age 11 and 12 will not be babysitting they will be Junior babysitters, and will either accompany "Babysitters, and Senior Babysitters". Babysitters are the 13-15 and the "senior Babysitters" are "16-18" -The meetings will last 1 hour - 1/2. The last 30 minutes is when parents can contact the "Babysitters Club" to set up babysitting, or tutoring services. Prospective Parents can also sit in on the meetings and see how we run it, and at the end request services. I was wondering if this sounds good, and also how to run the money thing. I was plannign on having the babysitters KEEP the money, and MAYBE pay maybe 2-5 dollars to the club, depending on how much they made, when they come to the meetings. BUT, I dont know.... Also, I want to do something where the members can run for President, Vice President, Treasurer, etc...but should I do that? Does any of this sound good, or any one have any ideas? Would you join it? I'm preparing to call my local youth service center and ask to make one, but I wanted to know what ya'll think, and would ya'll either join or call! lol///THANKS!! thanks girls...I was wondering, if everythiing sounded about right...lol...anyone else?

Do you need a CPR/AED first aid certification for your massage therapy license? I already have my license, but is it required to renew it every year to keep it? I can't find that specific answer anywhere. I live in Arizona, so it would be nice if therapists from Arizona answer. I graduated in '07 and then decided not to do it, but things changed in my life and now I want to start doing it again. But I don't have any information anymore.

Higher levels of first aid? I have basic CPR and first aid certification and I was wondering if there are higher levels of training. I don't want nursing training or some thing like that but training that could be used in the woods or just on the street. I live near Waltham MA in case anyone knows a program in that area.
cpr certification camp lejeune? i was wondering if anyone knew if the Camp Lejeune base in NC offers CPR, first aid, and fire safety certification. or in the surrounding area of Jacksonville where they offer it. any info is appreciated thanks!
Can I take an EMT-B course with no CPR certification? I'm a high school junior in NJ and I'm interested in joining my town's First Aid Squad. I have to take an EMT course before I can join, though, but every course I come upon throughout NJ requires CPR certification and I've never taken a CPR course before. What should I do? Would certain EMT-B training programs make exceptions for a situation like this? Does anyone know any EMT-B training programs in NJ that do not require CPR certification?
Is my CPR/First Aid Certification Void? I took a CPR/First Aid class to become certified. (I did it for personal reasons, nothing work related). Well, they send you a card in the mail to flash people incase you do end up having to use your skills, and on the card they spelt my name wrong. It was only a letter off, but still, does this make the certification void? This may sound silly, but people are sue happy these days, and if its void, and I'm not protected under Good Submaritan (which comes with the certification) I could be in trouble.
CPR certification question?!?!? I want to be a lifeguard during the summer and I need certain qualifications such as Cpr certified, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, bloodborne pathogens training. How long will it take for all of this a week or so? All of these are available in the classes I will be starting in a couple days so how long will all of this take? Also I'm seventeen years old and I live in the state of illinois how old do I have to be to work as a lifeguard on the beach?

I've learned that where ever you get your certificate from when using the AHA, you must recertify with them, these offices are privately owned. AHA doesn't have record of your certification. I didn't like that. AHA only provides certificate cards but no fullsize certificate. AHA classes seem shorter and they aren't required to give you a test. I know less about the Red Cross practices and would like to more.
how can i get certified first responder training in NYS? I have my CPR, choking and basic first aid certifications from the american heart association, and I heard about an intermediate level First Aid training (CFR), but I was wondering how to get it. Does the AHA or the red cross administer the Certified First Responder training program? How would I get this certification? If it helps I live in NYS.

CPR and First Aid certification? I got certified last year in a class at school, but this year they aren't offering it and my twin brother decided he wants to get certified now. Can you do it online without paying A LOT of money? If so, can you take the tests online too, or do you have to go somewhere for that? Any info would be great. Well, I looked it up and there was something about the Red Cross offering online courses, but I didn't think it seemed right either. Which... is WHY I asked. I'm not an idiot.

where can I find either free or decently price courses for First Aid CPR/Communicable diseases for ECD? Hello, I was recently laid off from the company I was working for and prior to that I have over five years of experience working with children/education. However, the state I relocated to (which is Ohio) apparently requires one to have CPR certification (which I have just need to renew) and communicable disease course. I was wondering if anyone knew any resources online that possibly offers one or both for free or decently priced [because I am strapped for cash and can't really afford any extra courses at the moment] because I need a job and most schools/daycares will reimburse one typically for taking these courses, but I am unable to find a job because need certifications. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Online class for CPR/AED and First Aid certification? I want to get CPR/AED and First Aid Certified, but all the training courses for my state are pretty far away. Should I have to pay for first aid/ CPR if my boss is suddenly requiring it? When I was hired as a gymnastics instructor, the gym did not require the instructors to be CPR/ first aid certified. A year ago the gym was purchased by someone new who knows squat about gymnastics. This year he is requiring us to have these certifications and stated that we are financially responsible for the course. Is this legal? He also is requiring us to sign a release so I we get hurt we cannot collect workers comp. That has got to be illegal!!
is the red cross the only place to get CPR & first aid certified? I was looking online for a fast way to get certified for a new job. All the classes are weeks away. I found some websites offering the training but I'm not sure if they are legit and will be excepted in Wa. They say they are issuing these certifications in partnership with the national health and safety foundation. Does anyone have the 411 on this?

Places to get a CPR and First Aid Certification? I use to be certified from the Red Cross for CPR and First Aid but both of them expired so I got to get recertified. My question are their ANY other places that offer the certificate? I know American Heart Society does it. And I found some other classes that offer First Aid and CPR certification classes. Does it really matter where you take the class? Or is the Red Cross the most reliable one? Theirs so many out where I live, I just want to know if its the same as Red Cross or if its different? Will it matter? I just like to be certified to have the skill. Its a good skill that everyone should learn. Its not a hard certification to obtain and it looks good on a resume. Thats the only reason why I have it. I dont need it for work or anything. Im not planning on going into the medical field or anything either. I just want it for the skill thats all and I would like to keep it up to date.
Where can I become CPR and First Aid certified that is not ARC? I am needing to become CPR and First Aid certified within two weeks for a childcare internship at my college. I have checked everywhere with the college and cannot find any classes offered for certification. The American Red Cross is only offering the First Aid/CPR/AED class in a city over two hours away for the outrageous price of $500. I have checked with the local hospitals and cannot find any programs or community classes for CPR and First Aid certification either. Does anyone have any idea where I could get this done at within my city (Evansville, IN) and in the two weeks that it is required?
CPR/ First Aid Certification-- Same as Professional License or Certificates? I am currently working on an application to graduate school, and it asks for professional licenses as certificates. I am both CPR and First Aid certified, but I don't think that is the type of certification they are looking for. However before disregarding it, I figured I would ask and see if anybody knew if it counted or not. Thanks!

When can I expect my CPR/First Aid certification in the mail? I took a CPR/First Aid class at my college last semester, and I filled out something with my address so that my certification card will be sent to me. I finished the class in December, and I still haven't gotten anything in the mail yet. I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of how long it might take to get here before I ask my instructor about it. Thanks! Dan- Yeah, I would think that since I passed the class then I would have passed the test. But I'll ask my teacher to see what's up.
