first aid medical supplies Knowledge Base
Is there any way I can get free first aid supplies? I self harm and can't afford the medical/ first aid supplies I need. I do not want to go to the doctors or A&E because it is pointless, but I really need to get regular supplies because I have to change the dressings very regularly, and I almost always have something that definitely needs to be dressed and covered. Please don't lecture me on stopping, I have tried and am now trying to cut down. Does anyone know anywhere in the UK that could send anything, or any charities that offer them? Thank you for your answers.
Israel targeting aid supplies considered targeting civilians? A UN building where food and medical supplies were being stored was hit today and set on fire with phosphorus fires which only generate toxic fumes when water is put on them to put them out. How much longer can they hide behind their already weak excuse that they aren't targeting civilians, only Hamas? Is destroying relief supplies in this manner a direct violation of UN resolutions?
Is there a website of NATO Members audit of Civilian Food, Medical and Vital aid that has been sent to AFGHANI I AM respectful that NATO commits VAST amounts of troops to the war on terror in AFGHANISTAN... and that some country's committments are in placing thier troops in less-threatening situations, but, they are STILL THERE contributing to the job at hand. A Factory needs many workers on the line before the final product comes off it. Is there a website where I could possibly gather an audit of the CIVILAIN food aid, medical supplies and vital shelter that's contributed by EACH NATO Member group, because it seems to me, that the only people getting credit for giving food aid and vital supplies is the USA, UK and well known Charities, although I know other countries send food and other emergency aid. It is THIS information I am searching for in my research..
Why does my first aid kit include chalk? I bought a ready-made first aid kit. The kit includes lots of sensible medical supplies such as bandages, iodine, antibiotics etc. But what's with the sticks of chalk, why is chalk in a first aid kit?
What was a first aid kit like during World War 2? Question: As medical supplies were quickly exausted, nurses had to make do with what they had on hand. Make a list of some of the substitutes they devises for bandages, stretchers, and blood supplies. *Best Answer gets 10 points
where can i find a little first aid kit box or bag? I need a box, tin, or bag that looks like it would be used for first aid, meaining its red and white with the little medical cross on it? i need to put some supplies in it for a get well soon present, and I cant find anything.
Horse first aid kit? For all you horse owners, im going through my barn first aid kit, seems im missing somethings. What medical supplies, medications and whatnots do you keep on hand for your horse/horses? My human one is well stocked. Thanks in advance Also a really dumb question...sorry... but the mare i just bought is named Buttercup, i somehow can get that cutzie name to come out of my mouth when i look at this massive draftX, great pony name, but it doesnt seem to fit her persona. Told ya stupid question. We have been staring at her trying to come up with something. She is a trailhorse i wont be showing her, so something simple my mother can say with her heavy Italian accent LOL Thanks again ")
Want to help send medical supplies into Gaza? A wonderful group of Jewish, Muslim & Christian doctors and health care workers in Israel are sending aid into Gaza almost daily. http://www.phr.org.il/phr/article.asp?articleid=686&catid=55&pcat=-1&lang=ENG They are asking for donations to help buy more hospital and surgical supplies as well as medicines. Please see their website for details or email me. They have now sent 4 convoys of medical supplies to hospitals in Gaza. Physicians for Human Rights - Israel Chapter http://www.phr.org.il/phr/pics/articlepic_1231934139937.jpg LOL, that's exactly what I said reaching for my credit card. There is a way to do it online but they ask that you understand that the CC company takes 6% or you can add 6% to the amount you want to send. You're very welcome. If you go the NIF route, be sure to specify that its for the PHR-I Gaza fund. Thank YOU for responding. Interesting how few people have....
Why would Israel attack medical aid coming on boats from foreign unrelated to Palestinian nations? "In the Mediterranean Sea, an Israeli patrol boat struck a boat carrying medical volunteers and supplies to Gaza early Tuesday as it attempted to intercept the vessel, witnesses and Israeli officials said.", CNN To those of you who doesn't know, the fact that the boat is coming Mediterranean Sea means that it is not coming from an Arab nation. Why is Israel making new enemies. Is it possible that they don't give a dam about anyone but themselves ? So many good answers. I'll try to pick the best one . Boomerang - living proof of the blind belief of media, lol, what did you expect Israelis to say other than that, they have to come up with something so naive people give them an excuse, and whoa, it worked. c'mon, open your eyes :)
Should the US stop offering aid to Africa? To me it seems like we've been doing this for decades, and the problems of AIDS, violence, and starvation have only gotten worse. If you think about it the more people we save the more the countries become overpopulated and the scarcity of water, food, and medical supplies only gets worse. Africa already has the fastest growing population of any continent, and if we stop the spread of AIDS it is going to explode. From a scientific point of view, for the process of natural selection to take place the weaker part of a species or society must die out. Not only from a genetic perspective, but also so the amount of material resources is not exceeded by the population of a species. And were obviously inter-fearing with the process of nature by giving aid. Economically, we also cause countries to become dependent on aid by bailing them out of hard situations. Lastly, I also wonder why were giving billions away to other countries every year when we have a 7 trillion dollar debt, our currency is failing, and our economy is on the verge of recession. Can anyone explain to me why we are still doing this?
Why is Israel blocking medical supplies to Gaza? Murdering women and children and then blocking humanitarian aid, what is next? Is it time for the US to step in and force Israel to back down? http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/12/30/gaza.aid.boat/index.html
How do I afford my diabetes supplies with no insurance? There has GOT to be some kind of program for students who have diabetes and go to school full time. I am not going to a regular university so they dont have medical aid. Theres no way in hell I can afford $150 a month for insulin and $200 a month for test strips or any of that. I was thinking about the everyone benefits program but that only pays a small percentage of the cost. Are poor diabetics just meant to fall over and die or what? I do not think so! What do all you other no insurance diabetics do out there to afford your supplies, any one know of anything at ALL that would help me?
who would i write to regarding public aid medical card? I am a type one diabetic and I cannot afford all of the medications and syringes and testing supplies. I am on programs for the meds but testing strips are very expensive and then there is the cost of the syringes. I went to apply for the medical card and they said I don't qualify because I am not pregnant and I have no children. I did not ask for this disease and I don't think it is fare that I cannot get medical assistance when this is a disease that can kill me if I do not have the proper testing supplies. Do I write to the state govner or..???? Thanks for your help!
Why do people think we care that other countries hate America? I've read about 50 million questions here about why this country or that country hates America. So what? Other countries have never loved us -- except, of course, when we were smashing the dictators and madmen that Europe seems to embrace with maddening regularity. Yeah, we *do* meddle in affairs overseas, because when we don't, we wind up getting pulled into even *bigger* messes (like World Wars I and II)). But with all the hate coming from around the world, I'm beginning to think that we should have never involved ourselves in WWII -- we should have let the Nazis and the Communists destroy Europe and then Asia, fortified ourselves over here, and let the rest of the world go to pot. In fact, I'm sort of getting to the point where I'd like to see us call all troops home, cut off all foreign aid and medical supplies, call in all debts, roll up the welcome mat, and stay home for the next century and let France and Canada pay the bills for a while. I'm becoming more and more isolationist. We should stop sending other countries ANYTHING -- stop meddling COMPLETELY -- and send NOTHING overseas -- no food, no medicine, no technology, no jobs, no foreign aid, NOTHING. Let's keep it all here at home and build our own stockpiles of resources and supplies and to Hell with the rest of the world. xemicangirl: Well, World War II wasn't OUR mess -- it was the result of hundreds of years of European greed, ignorance, brutality and bigotry. We could have just let them drown in it, and I'm beginning to think we should have.
Is the Burma Dictatorship's Refusal of Aid Similar to the Bush Regime's Refusal to Accept Aid for Katrina? When Hurricane Katrina ripped through the southern United States in August 2005, the authorities were overwhelmed and the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, appealed to the international community for emergency medical aid. The Cuban government immediately offered assistance to New Orleans and to the states of Mississippi and Alabama, also affected by the storm, and promised that within 48 hours 1,600 doctors, trained to deal with such catastrophes, would arrive with all the necessary equipment plus 36 tonnes of medical supplies. This offer, and another made directly to President George Bush, went unanswered. In the catastrophe at least 1,800 people, most of them poor, died for lack of aid and treatment.
Egyptians stoned Galloway and sent him to hell, togther with the "aid to poor gazans"? Egyptians stoned a humanitarian convoy at Rafiah that was led by anti-Israel British Member of Parliament George Galloway on Sunday. The incident occurred at El Arish, approximately 28 miles from the Rafiah border at Gaza. The Egyptian protesters also wrote dirty words and anti-Hamas slogans on the packs with humanitarian aid, and several people in the convoy were injured in the attack, according to convoy organizer Yvonne Ridley, quoted by French news agency AFP. The convoy included 110 vehicles carrying nearing $2 million worth of goods. Egyptian officials delayed the convoy because it was carrying non-medical supplies that officials said must pass through Israeli crossings. Ridley said that MP Galloway is negotiating with officials and that its non-medical aid might be forwarded to Gaza through the Egyptian Red Crescent agency. The convoy left Britain under police surveillance following MP Galloway’s attempt to include three terrorists in a convoy. A bit more-and I shall believe there are reasonable people even among Egyptians, lol
What are your sentiments on a forced entrance in Myanmar to deliver aid? Having a fleet of US ships off the Myanmar coast readied to deliver supplies and medical aid to the over 1 million people affected, how do you feel about a joint UN and US forced entry to assist those affected by the latest cyclone? There is a medical and humanitarian disaster looming and not much can be done unless there is direct action. How would you respond if this was to happen? Thats exactly my feeling Janet I think its necessary because they have a million people that are homeless, a hundred thousand dead of which several thousands are decaying in and near water close to where people reside and it's drawing a potential setting for endemic diseases that will potentially kill more people. I dont think the argument stating "our government can't even help people here in the US that are starving or need medical attention" is a plausible argument. Yes we have our own problems but that doesnt mean we should turn our back on other people who need our assistance. In the post WWII and post Cold War era we became the sole superpower with the ability to care for those who are less fortunate. Since we took on that responsibility, it's immoral to discontinue that responsibility. And I don't "think" they need us, the death toll and the number of which are displaced (1,000,000+ people) says enough as does the lack of support from their own government say they need us.
Is there any goods which US governemnt can't give to foreign country as humanitarian aid? As I've heard, US government helps so many poor and underdeveloped countries through its sub-agency(USAID etc) and food, medical supply, emergency relief are being delivered to the recipient country. But what I've heard recently is that, despite of humanitarian purpose, some items is barred to deliver to the needed country, I mean, EXCEPT miliatary supply and dual purpose items. Could you give some example for such 'barred-to-give' item? And which law is applied to that case?
What is a good name for a store for seniors? Most stores for seniors (or the elderly) have names like "Medical supplies". I want a more fun name that still says it's for the elderly age group. The store will still have medical aids, vision aids etc. but does it have to sound so hospital like?
Why are the Somali pirates saying that they are tired of the way the rest of the world treats them? And this is why they are taking ships and hostages? What is it that those idiots are saying that the world is doing to them that is causing harm? Is bringing medical supplies, aid, food and clothing from around the entire globe what they consider harsh and mean treatment? TOFFEE!! Since I don't live there and have no idea what it is like to live there, this is the reason why I am asking why? Apparently you don't know either, but the question still remains, WHY are they doing this, what is the reason? or Drea whatever your name is......
National pride and Katrina? I was shocked, Shocked to hear how much international aid that the Bush administration TURNED DOWN FLAT, like doctors from Pakistan, electrical generators and oil, shelter aid, medical supplies etc. after Katrina. My question is how do you feel? The US has never accepted aid, wanting to appear proud and strong, but then, they did not adequately help their own. Was this move justified for the sake of national pride, or should they have swallowed their pride? Is the gov't representing the will of the people, there? And now, aid didn't go to Kansas due to lack of proper hoop-jumping in the request? Aargh! P.S - I'm Canadian; outside looking in.
What is your opinion on the current slaughter of 280 citizens of Gaza by Israel? I don't understand how they can say the democratically elected government of Gaza brought it upon themselves, when Israel is the one who keeps pushing them to respond by expanding their settlements, leaving Israeli settlers to attack palestinians, surrounding them by a wall and stop or hinder the passage of food, aid, medical supplies and gasolin into Gaza. They have pushed the people of Gaza to the edge. Yet, I must say that the government of Gaza must also stop attacking the Israeli's as only diplomacy works. Boomeran..Sorry you were right about settlements being halted in Gaza, but i do disagree on everything else you said. A life is a life, whether israeli or palestinian and no one should have the power to kill someone else.
Isn't illegal immigration really Third World Colonization of America? Let's face it, this isn't about Pedro sneaking across the border to work a weedeater, this is about third world colonization of the United States. Since time began, groups of people have always attacked others to get their goods. But instead of using weapons, Mexico and latin America along with traitors in the US are using our charity and compassion against us to facilitate a take over of large swaths of the US. In time, the US will undoubtedly break up and be no more. History proves this. Some may say that Europe and the US colonized other lands. However, the fact is, that they gave those "colonized lands" running water, helped develop food and crops, supplied medical aid, facilitated economic prosperity for the indigenous and so on. Third world colonization brings once-eradicated disease, street gangs, lawlessness, breakdown in order, corruption, etc.
Why did Mexico's military aid, help, and assist Americans after Katrina hurricane in New Orleans, USA ? On August 30, 2005, Mexican President Vicente Fox sent his condolences to President George W. Bush: "In the name of the people and of the government of Mexico, I assure you of my deepest and most sincere condolences for the devastating effects caused by Hurricane Katrina". He also mentioned his instructions to the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs; that the United States would be provided with any kind of help that was needed. On September 1, Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas received almost 196 Mexican troops, 14 truckloads of water, a mobile surgical unit, 45 military vehicles, 3 tons of purified water, and more than 250 tons of food, bottled water, canned food, disposable diapers and medical supplies. The Mexican Government sent $1 million through the Mexican Red Cross which collected an additional million, as well as 200 tons of food delivered in five airplanes from the Mexican Air Force by another Mexican Government body. The Mexican Navy sent two ships, eight all-terrain vehicles, seven amphibious vehicles, two tankers, two helicopters, radio communication equipment, medical personnel Mexican aid workers set up temporary headquarters in the Houston Astrodome to assist relief workers and hurricane victims were very grateful for the aid that the Mexicans provided. The Mexicans provided hot meals to evacuees and relief workers, and Mexican medical teams also deployed into local area hospitals to tend to the influx of evacuees who flooded San Antonio area hospitals. The medical team was three doctors, three dentists, three nurses and three paramedics, conducted 134 medical evaluations, performed 526 medical consultations, provided 363 ambulatory nursing procedures, and medically evacuated 83 personnel during their hurricane relief mission. affected by Katrina, and also offered to cover the costs of returning mexican nationals back to Mexico. Also offered was teams of epidemiologists, to reduce the risks of infections caused by mosquitoes. The Mexican Red Cross sent four rescue experts from the state of Jalisco to assist in rescue efforts in New Orleans. The government of the Mexican Federal District also pledged to help with relief efforts. On September 4 the Mexican Navy offered ships, buses and helicopters to assist in rescue missions. The offer was accepted and the Mexican ship Papaloapan departed from Tampico, with two Mi-17 helicopters, eight all-terrain vehicles, seven amphibious vehicles, two tankers, radio communication equipment, medical personnel and 250 tons of food. Thank you Mexico !

Can you help me find a good charity to support? Recently, I've had a slight excess of money, and I would love to find a charity to support. I'm interested in a charity which distributes medical supplies or personnel to countries in need of aid. But if you have any charities to suggest instead, I would love to hear.
Did we send aid to Italy? I know Italy sent aid after Katrina in the form of medical supplies. I haven't heard if we returned the favor after the quake. I know it would just be a gesture on our part as it was on theirs. I was just curious I haven't seen anything on the news about it. Halo, I agree that most charities chip in but the Italian government sent aid to Katrina. Berlusconi may accept US aid to rebuild quake-hit churches Source: Agence France-Presse (AFP) Date: 07 Apr 2009 F L'AQUILA, Italy, April 7, 2009 (AFP) - Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has declined foreign humanitarian aid following Italy's earthquake, said Tuesday he may accept US aid to restore cultural sites damaged in the disaster. "If the United States wanted to make a concrete gesture of solidarity" it could help in the "reconstruction of cultural heritage and churches," Berlusconi told reporters during a visit to the earthquake zone. The Italian leader said he had made the suggestion in a telephone conversation Tuesday with US President Barack Obama. "He told me it was an excellent idea, and we will talk about it when I see him in Washington," Berlusconi told reporters, referring to a planned visit to the White House on a date yet to be set. In turning down foreign aid offers, the prime minister said earlier: "We are a proud people and we have mea
Why do people say that America is selfish? When America is there for many countries when others aren't. When a natural disaster hits America is there and gives money. When the tsunami hit average american citizens gave money. For poor countries who suffer poverty America gives them money. For countries who have AIDS problems, America gives support and medical supplies. America gives Paslistine money to run their government since they say we are so one sided towards Israel. Who knows who else we give money to. I'm sure that even those of you who accuse american and americans of being selfish have seen first hand the generosity of the american people.
I need advice on expansion...? I run and own a small First Aid and Medical Supply company in Australia. Presently, we sell kits and supplies, but we haven't yet moved into selling into industry or business. Seeing as every workplace is different (and in Australia every workplace is required to have a maintained kit) what would be the best way to advertise my company to them. My fears are these: With the influx of telemarketers and Hawkers, I do not want my company to be categorized with those types. Because each business is so different, it is hard to advertise in industry specific publications. I just need ideas... We are only a small company and I want to start off in corporate sales with out seeming like a desperate used car salesman. Thanks in advance.
add commas where they are needed in the following paragraph.? hiking is a sport that can be enjoyed by almost anyone. Its is healthy inexpensive and fun. what are some basic rules of hiking? well safe hiking demands that you do the following: first build up your endurance before you begin a long difficult hike; second take along necessary first aid and medical supplies; third never hike alone in the wilderness no matter how confident you feel. of course just walking around your neighborhood is a good way to get into shape.a related sport that hikers enjoy is mountaineering mountain treks which should be attempted by only the most experienced of hikers can be difficult and dangerous. even taking the danger into account it is clear that hiking is a sport you should consider trying.
If you were president, would you use this tragedy as an opportunity ? Kids in Pakistan quake zone beg for food http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081030/ap_on_re_as/as_pakistan_quake#full Now I know....these are the children of terrorists right ?...they hate America right ?.... WRONG.... children don't know how to hate.....and you can't hate someone you don't know...(adults on this planet are the only ones with this problem) If I were President, I would send food AID and medical supplies, and a delegation to negotiate with the factions that control these provinces in order to get the releif efforts moving unconditionally. I would use this as an opportunity to improve our image, and reduce the hatred of the US in Pakistan tribal regions. It would be an act of good will.... no strings attached. Imagine your sworn enemy helps you and your family in your most desperate hour of need....when your families lives are at stake. It would be a lot harder to reinforce the misconception of the American "devil" in light of a show of human decency in the wake of a tragedy.. Some will say...."why is it our responsibility"..... and the answer is... It's not our responsiblity.... but it is in our nature to be compassionate and lead by example. No matter what our political and strategic interest might be in the middle east...our first and foremost priority should be peace on earth and good will toward mankind.... this is the best facilitator of Democracy.... Sending food is a lot cheaper, and works much better than sending bombs. snoochie....who's bitching ?...i'm just asking a question dude... The US DOES provide a lot of aid to other nations..all of the time... I just think this could be an opportunity..."to win hearts and minds"...without the use of tanks and missles...BEFORE an all out conflict becomes inevitable.
Any volunteers in the US interested in helping Kenya? I am Board member of a wonderful organization that does humanitarian work in Kenya- American Friends of Kenya. We focus on listening to what Kenyans need to help themselves. Usually a lot of NFP want to tackle AIDS or Malaria or one disease when really the overall Public Health system needs to improve. We send medical supplies and training materials for doctors and nurses. We do one trip a year where volunteer nurses and doctors train and work "hands on" at clinics and hospitals in rural Kenya. We also ship thousands of books, fund uniforms and shoes for children to be able to get an education. Some of our goals now are: creating programs for orphanages to empower these kids and give them love, confidence and courage, creating a library that would serve over 900,000 people, expanding our organization across the US, and more. Our next volunteer trip is July 2008. Interested in helping? Please contact me or for more information go to www.afkinc.org. Thanks!
How to spend $452,000,000,000 ??? If you divide the war budget ($452,000,000,000) by the number of people living in Iraq (26,000.000), we've spent $17,000 on the "liberation" of every man woman and child in the country.....most of whom oppose our "support" The Feed the Children program can provide food, school supplies, and medical aid to one child in Africa for about 20 dollars a month...thats 240 dollars per year....which means we could have provided support to every man woman and child in Africa for 2.7 years. Other ways to spend $452,000,000,000 22,000,000 Hybrid Cars (@ 20,000 each) 75,333 years worth of research at the National Cancer Institute 90 years worth of AIDS research (based on what was approved for the 2006 budget) Could re-build New Orleans and the gulf coast 2260 times. Anybody else feeling sick yet ? J- Ipsydoodle - After serving in Iraq, I understand your point on leaving the Iraqi people to defend for themselves, but isn't that what we've been doing to the people in Africa for years now... Matt - I understand that national defense is a key part of the nation budget, but we've got to ask ourselves what helps us more in the long run, supporting the countries who really need it, or giving ourselves a black eye. What Americans don't realize is that when kill a terrorist, you don't get rid of one, you create five more. The middle east has been a violent society for years...they fight for their families, their land and their religion the same way we would if they or anyone else invaded us. Why not spend the money on the people who need our help, and then if the Iraqis finally realize they can't do it on their own, then we can give them help on our terms. I'd also like to point out the lack of pro-bush / repub who answered this...truth hurts i guess
Mozambique Medical Donations...? I am part of a missionary group and I am currently seeking information as to how I would procure medicines and first aid supplies on a donation basis. I would need the names of the companies willing to do so and contact information. Thank you.
what are Top 5 Lies About Israel’s Assault on Gaza ? Lie #1) Israel is only targeting legitimate military sites and is seeking to protect innocent lives. Israel never targets civilians. The Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated pieces of property in the world. The presence of militants within a civilian population does not, under international law, deprive that population of their protected status, and hence any assault upon that population under the guise of targeting militants is, in fact, a war crime. Moreover, the people Israel claims are legitimate targets are members of Hamas, which Israel says is a terrorist organization. Hamas has been responsible for firing rockets into Israel. These rockets are extremely inaccurate and thus, even if Hamas intended to hit military targets within Israel, are indiscriminate by nature. When rockets from Gaza kill Israeli civilians, it is a war crime. Hamas has a military wing. However, it is not entirely a military organization, but a political one. Members of Hamas are the democratically elected representatives of the Palestinian people. Dozens of these elected leaders have been kidnapped and held in Israeli prisons without charge. Others have been targeted for assassination, such as Nizar Rayan, a top Hamas official. To kill Rayan, Israel targeted a residential apartment building. The strike not only killed Rayan but two of his wives and four of his children, along with six others. There is no justification for such an attack under international law. This was a war crime. Other of Israel’s bombardment with protected status under international law have included a mosque, a prison, police stations, and a university, in addition to residential buildings. Moreover, Israel has long held Gaza under siege, allowing only the most minimal amounts of humanitarian supplies to enter. Israel is bombing and killing Palestinian civilians. Countless more have been wounded, and cannot receive medical attention. Hospitals running on generators have little or no fuel. Doctors have no proper equipment or medical supplies to treat the injured. These people, too, are the victims of Israeli policies targeted not at Hamas or legitimate military targets, but directly designed to punish the civilian population. Lie #2) Hamas violated the cease-fire. The Israeli bombardment is a response to Palestinian rocket fire and is designed to end such rocket attacks. Israel never observed the cease-fire to begin with. From the beginning, it announced a “special security zone” within the Gaza Strip and announced that Palestinians who enter this zone will be fired upon. In other words, Israel announced its intention that Israeli soldiers would shoot at farmers and other individuals attempting to reach their own land in direct violation of not only the cease-fire but international law. Despite shooting incidents, including ones resulting in Palestinians getting injured, Hamas still held to the cease-fire from the time it went into effect on June 19 until Israel effectively ended the truce on November 4 by launching an airstrike into Gaza that killed five and injured several others. Israel’s violation of the cease-fire predictably resulted in retaliation from militants in Gaza who fired rockets into Israel in response. The increased barrage of rocket fire at the end of December is being used as justification for the continued Israeli bombardment, but is a direct response by militants to the Israeli attacks. Israel’s actions, including its violation of the cease-fire, predictably resulted in an escalation of rocket attacks against its own population. Lie #3) Hamas is using human shields, a war crime. There has been no evidence that Hamas has used human shields. The fact is, as previously noted, Gaza is a small piece of property that is densely populated. Israel engages in indiscriminate warfare such as the assassination of Nizar Rayan, in which members of his family were also murdered. It is victims like his dead children that Israel defines as “human shields” in its propaganda. There is no legitimacy for this interpretation under international law. In circumstances such as these, Hamas is not using human shields, Israel is committing war crimes in violation of the Geneva Conventions and other applicable international law. Lie #4) Arab nations have not condemned Israel’s actions because they understand Israel’s justification for its assault. The populations of those Arab countries are outraged at Israel’s actions and at their own governments for not condemning Israel’s assault and acting to end the violence. Simply stated, the Arab governments do not represent their respective Arab populations. The populations of the Arab nations have staged mass protests in opposition to not only Israel’s actions but also the inaction of their own governments and what they view as either complacency or complicity in Israel’s crimes. Moreover, the refusal of Arab nations to take action to come to the aid of the Palestinians is not beca Lie #4) Arab nations have not condemned Israel’s actions because they understand Israel’s justification for its assault. Moreover, the refusal of Arab nations to take action to come to the aid of the Palestinians is not because they agree with Israel’s actions, but because they are submissive to the will of the US, which fully supports Israel. Egypt, for instance, which refused to open the border to allow Palestinians wounded in the attacks to get medical treatment in Egyptian hospitals, is heavily dependent up dependent upon US aid, and is being widely criticized within the population of the Arab countries for what is viewed as an absolute betrayal of the Gaza Palestinians. Even Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been regarded as a traitor to his own people for blaming Hamas for the suffering of the people of Gaza. Palestinians are also well aware of Abbas’ past perceived betrayals in conniving with Israel and the US to sideline the democratically elected Hamas government, culminating in a counter-coup by Hamas in which it expelled Fatah (the military wing of Abbas’ Palestine Authority) from the Gaza Strip. While his apparent goal was to weaken Hamas and strengthen his own position, the Palestinians and other Arabs in the Middle East are so outraged at Abbas that it is unlikely he will be able to govern effectively . Lie #5) Israel is not responsible for civilian deaths because it warned the Palestinians of Gaza to flee areas that might be targeted. Israel claims it sent radio and telephone text messages to residents of Gaza warning them to flee from the coming bombardment. But the people of Gaza have nowhere to flee to. They are trapped within the Gaza Strip. It is by Israeli design that they cannot escape across the border. It is by Israeli design that they have no food, water, or fuel by which to survive. It is by Israeli design that hospitals in Gaza have no electricity and few medical supplies with which to treat the injured and save lives. And Israel has bombed vast areas of Gaza, targeting civilian infrastructure and other sites with protected status under international law. No place is safe within the Gaza Strip
How shall I finish off this "essay"?? A tsunami is a series of waves created when a large mass of water is moved by an earthquake, volcanic eruption or underwater explosion ect. The movement of the water is similar to the effect created when you throw a stone into a pond, ripples are created all around and they travel outwards, the force of the ripple depending on the force of the disturbance which created the ripple. They have a very low height offshore and are often hundreds of miles long. Formation of a tsunami. http://science.howstuffworks.com/tsunami2.htm The short term effects of a tsunami are obvious to see. There is the immediate destruction caused by the wave (buildings, bridges, roads smashed to pieces). Livestock could be killed/maimed, crops destroyed and people killed/maimed. There is also the mental suffering of people seeing their family and livelihood destroyed. Destruction caused by a Tsunami. http://www.worldaccord.org/images/tsunami-damage.jpg The most prominent long term effect is disease. Immediately the wave will kill people and these people are generally buried as soon as possible. If they are not, bacteria and animals will take advantage of the situation and feed off the bodies, spreading disease as they go. The disease spreads and affects food and water and so it spreads very quickly. Because of this some people may be forced to go hungry because of diseased food. As well as a short term lack of food, crops could be destroyed and land made infertile by disease causing not only hunger in the future but also economic losses to the farmers. Business’ can be destroyed causing economic losses to owners and workers. Because of the desperation for food, water and medical supplies, crime also becomes rife; a black market can develop using food, water, medical supplies and aid as a currency. Because of the panic that happens after a natural disaster of a large scale people can be easily misplaced, meaning families are split up and there are large amounts of orphaned children to be cared for.
..what do u think?? hehe? PS IM NOT RACIEST A major earthquake, measuring 9.1 on the Richter Scale, has hit New Zealand this morning. 350,000 New Zealanders are missing, and over 100,000 have been reported injured. The country is totally ruined and the government is so overwhelmed that it doesn't know where to start with providing assistance. The rest of the world is in shock. Canada is sending troops to assist the country. The USA is sending food, medical aid and money. France is sending doctors, nurses and medical supplies. Russia is sending tents and warm clothing. Australia is sending 350,000 replacement Kiwis.
My friends were captured? I have retreated to northern Thailand, living a solitary and peaceful life in the mountains and jungles. A group of human rights missionaries searched me out and asked me to guide them into Burma to deliver medical supplies. When the aid workers were captured by the Burmese army, I decided to venture alone into the war zone to rescue them?
Why was the piracy of an aid ship by Israeli navy kept out of most of the worlds press and TV? Considering that there was an American congress woman on board and it was only carrying medical supplies and some building materials. ? What legal right does Israel have to commit piracy in international waters. They even attacked the USS Liberty killing 34 American sailors and blamed it on "just a tragic mistake" Was this another one ? or should it be added to Israels endless lists of war crimes.? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/29/AR2009062900785.html http://www.rense.com/general39/pilot.htm http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article906.shtml http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Liberty_incident
Now that we are sending aid after the tsunami, how long before they start hating the U.S. again? http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gCeFe6qrUA2J6TpqBUjMoyp8nthAD9B2A8S81 Isn't it a continuous cycle? A major event takes place across the world and the US sends military aid, food and medical supplies. I believe I have read many articles highlighting terrorist activities in these areas along with a high level of contempt for America yet here we go. More aid. How long before these same people that we are currently helping start to protest in the streets that "America is evil"? If you had looked at the link you would have realized I wasn't talking about American Samoa. -it just goes to show how inept most Americans are at open thought, keep believing the programming they send you.
Is it legal for college bookstores to overcharge students on required supplies? Is this just business or is it illegal? In the course I am taking, we are required to purchase certain supplies for the course, uniforms, medical supplies, etc. We are required to have these items. The vendor, a medical supply store, is one mile from the campus. The medical supply store is open to the public and these exact same supplies or 40-50% cheaper in the store than on campus. The college bookstore handles all financial aid transactions and also all cash transactions for the books, supplies, uniforms, etc for the campus. The bookstore officials sent out an email saying that if the medical supply store allowed cash paying students to purchase their supplies at the store, the medical supply store would be dropped as an approved vendor. How can this be legal? No contract was signed between the store and the bookstore/college. All students are required to purchase these required items from the bookstore. This purchase is made at a 40-50% increase. Does this not fall under some type of monopoly law or price discrimination law? Next thing, they will say that I cannot go to Walmart to purchase my pen and paper. Is this legal or just business?
Practically speaking: How much use is the "Aid" sent by a US Faith based group to starving & injured Haitians? who have no access to food, water, medical supplies or shelter? If you are a Christian answering this...could you tell me if you approve of the donation? Did your church group send Aid to Haiti...and what type of Aid did they send? http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2010/01/us-faith-group-sends-hundreds-of-solar-powered-bibles-to-haiti/1 (((Bopped))) (((Cricket))) Why is it always the usual suspects who have both reason and compassion mixed with their faith?
How come Mexico is not making any offers of help or sending any aid to Haiti but they did to Texas when it was? How come Mexico is not making any offers of help or sending any aid to Haiti but they did to Texas when it was their people any reason why no help to the country of Haiti? In Texas Mexico sent food, water, medical dr's, nurses, medical supplies, clothes, after the hurricane hit Texas and the areas had a high population of illegals but so far Mexico has not made any public offers to help out that country, Mexico has enough money to help out ? One drug cartel suitcase full of money would help out Haiti, would Mexico make a sincere effort to help out if their people were over there ?

What kind of medicine will Seventh Day Adventists use? I have a Neighbor that's a Seventh Day Adventist. Nice lady. One day my kids were playing at here house and one cut her foot really bad by accident. The neighbor did not own first aid supplies! She wasn't comfortable with me using mine in her kitchen! Also, when her kid has a medical problem, she puts charcoal on it. My neighbor doesn't like to talk about her beliefs, or I'd ask her. Does anyone know why SDA's won't use meds? Are they obeying a bible verse? Or are my neighbors unique in this way? I mean, there are SDA hospitals, for goodness' sake. So, maybe it's just her. But William, meds are necessary. My daughter and I have seizures that would actually kill us without our meds. Do you know if this aversion to meds is from the bible, or from a founder of SDA, or what? Also, I know that lots of SDA are vegetarians. Are all of them?
Gifts to ask as a future Medical Doctor? Ideas welcome!? I have recently been asked to create a list for the in-laws that I wish to get for christmas, and seeing as I will be pursuing a future as a medical doctor, I would love supplies that would prepare or even accompany me throughout my education. Here are a couple of examples of what I mean: Stethoscope Blood pressure cuff Thermometer A nice First Aid Kit So, overall I just would like to know some ideas for simple, yet very useful items I should ask for Christmas. I've even found some cheap items that would seem pricey. Otoscopes that was one that was recommended as they actually are pretty cheap and durable. I think there are bargains anywhere, but I would love ideas! Thanks in advance
Why does Israel mess with my palestinian brothers? because the palestinians are suffering here are some facts fo zionists following numbers are numbers from septmeber 2000 to march 2004 Palestinians killed-2,859 deaths including 527, or 19% children (below 18 years). These and road blocks divide West Bank into 300 separate clusters and the Gaza Strip into 3 separate clusters. Severe internal closure: West Bank: 66% of days, Partial internal closure: West Bank: 34%, Gaza 94% of days24 Closure causes humanitarian problems such as water and gas shortages (ed Beit Furik & Beit Dajan). Other examples: Residents of Al Mawasi ‘tagged’ with identity numbers, so that Israeli army can permit them minimum movement in and out of area. Israel erected electric gate at entrance to al Sifa, residents permitted movement in/out only from 7-9am and 3-5pm. May 2002: Israeli government introduces new personal permit regime and makes movement between Palestinian towns in the West Bank impossible. The Bantustanization of the Palestinian territories is complete. Construction of “separation” fence between the West Bank and Israel started. External closures: West Bank and Gaza Strip sealed off from the rest of the world. Gaza International airport been closed since February 2001; “safe passage” between Gaza Strip & West Bank closed since Oct. 2000 (Oslo accords forbid its closure); frequent lengthy closure of bridge to Jordan, border with Egypt (Rafah entrance), entrances to Israel (Al-Mintar and Beit Hanoun crossings). Since the beginning of March 2002 the Israeli army has repeatedly invaded areas under Palestinian control and placed towns and villages under prolonged curfew. Palestinian arrests and detention by Israeli authorities-It is estimated that since the 29th of March 2002, 15,000 Palestinians have been detained, 6,000 of who remain in prison. Of these, 1,700 Palestinians are under administrative detention25 meaning they have not had a trial, and are imprisoned without charges being brought against them. 350 Palestinian children currently held in Israeli prisons and detention centers inside Israel and in the West Bank. The World Bank estimates that in case of a solution to the conflict and lifting of the closure it will take at least 2 years for the Palestinian economy to restore to a pre-Intifada per capita income level42 UN Resolutions/ Reports: Condemning Israel for disproportionate and excessive use of force against Palestinian civilians and failure to adhere to international laws.-7 May 2002: UN General Assembly, 10th Emergency Special Session resumed. What do you keep in your "emergency, end of the world" supplies, are you prepared "just in case"? I put this hear because an implosion of government is the only thing I can think of that would force one to be completely self reliant for a year, natural disaster would only leave people cut off for a few hours or days at the most This is a real question so don't put, "an ounce of P91 and a case of Coors" What do you have as your emergency back up as in the way of food, water, self defence, shelter... I live in a gated community on a golf course in So Cal, everyone I know keeps an "Earth quake kit" with food, water, communication, hygiene.... I keep on hand at all times enough food for 4 people for 1 year at 1800-2200 calories a day, every year I donate my food supply to a homeless shelter and restock so nothing I have is more than a year old I also keep 100 gallons of water, water purification systems, bleach, first aid including all the basic meds, also keep 100+ gallons of gasoline which the gardener uses for the lawn mower then I replace with new fuel so I always have a fresh supply, a few grand in cash a few ounces of gold and silver, CB and AM/FM radios with batteries, flashlights, I have a generator that I run for an hour or so every month, dog food for my English Bulldog and most any type of medication he might need, I shoot for recreation and collect every type of weapon so I have 30+ firearms with a few set aside for self defence purposes each with 1K+ rounds of ammo, survival and medical books, rope, GPS's signaling devices, fire starting sticks matches....and just about everything else I could every think anyone would need if society fell apart and everyone where left to their own means without any outside help and people became desperate...like to the point that they will kill you for your food So I am just curious how well supplied those outside of my neighborhood paradise are, I know that in my area most people have taken the time to be prepared, we had massive fires in our area a few years back and the local Churches and schools were literally overflowing with donated supplies that people had on hand but I also know that there are people who don't plan ahead and/or think the government should take care all their needs "Katrina-New Orleans" is a great example of the dangers of ignorance and lack of planning ahead its not like all this stuff just sits around, I use some of it for camping, power outages etc. total I doubt I have more than $25K invested, heck I have $75K in tools just to fill up my tool chest and work shop I really doubt the implosion of government will cause 90%+ of people to die guess no one can give an answer so I guess I will be defending myself and family against you folks when your starving...don't worry I am a competitive shooter so it will be a clean shot as long as you hold still
Funding for HIV/AIDS, is this smart of stupid? First off, providing medical supplies to African citizens suffering from HIV/AIDS, is this a smart of stupid thing to do. Basically, giving treatments to HIV/AIDS sufferer prolongs there life. Common sense. right? I'm sure many can agree with this. Knowing there is no cure. However, the HIV/AIDS sufferer most indefinitely, due to the medical treatments, was able to live longer and spread his/her disease to x amount of people before dying. Where as if he/she did not have the medical treatment he/she would have died a x amount of years before, nulling out the spread of infection the x amount of people. This theoretical situation could occur on multiple levels involving millions of people and I think it does. So with treatments but not cures people are able to live longer and are able to spread more of the disease opposed to not living and not spreading the disease. As much as I care about the infected, I care about the non-infected too, maybe a little more. So what do we do?
Where can I buy sterile water or 0.9% saline solution for irrigation.? It is my understanding that sterile water or 0.9% saline solution for irrigation (The Baxter 250 500 1000 ml bottles) need a physician authorization to be pruchased form medical supply. I want to buy a small quantity for my first aid jump bag in the cars. I have some fairly fancy stuff and can handle major traumas with my gear. If I had an AED, oxygen, and a portable suction I would be an ambulance :) Anyway, I just like to go overboard and be prepared for anything. Can anyone point me in a direction or to a supplier that will sell it without a hassle - I tried all the big guys such as Moore Medical and they are a no-go.
Alternative to Anatomy dissection kit? My Anatomy course requires an anatomy kit, but the professor said we could "piece" the kit apart since the school store kit is expensive. Of course, this isn't an easy task when they don't have regular medical/surgical supplies at regular stores. The professor isn't so picky, but I was wondering what kinds of alternatives there are for certain things. The three things that we need are: Tissue Forceps Dissecting scissors Mall (blunt) probe. -As strange as it might seem, I've been told that stainless steel tweezers and scissors from the cosmetic section might be fine for dissection (we're dissecting cat), and I also have tweezers (not metal) from a first aid kit I have. It also comes with a finger splint, and I was wondering if it would ok to use to in place of the mall blunt probe? Any suggestions or feedback?
Is there anything I can do? Anything? I beg people not to live in ignorance. Know what's going on in the world today. The violence, the brutality, the utter lack of humanity. Horror doesn't even begin to describe my feelings watching Israel massacre Palestinians. They ARE trying to basically wipe out the entire group of opposition through violence. In just 20 days, the number of people killed has matched the number of American military deaths in two years of the War in Iraq, and a third of those casualties were children. The number of people injured (50% women and children) is 1,000 more than the number of American deaths in the entire six year span of the War in Iraq. At this rate, how long will it take for the death toll to rival the Holocaust's? You'd think Jews knew something about genocide from the Holocaust. Instead, their actions are entirely hypocritical. They're being no better than the Nazis. Take one minute to open your eyes: An NBC news reporter reports, "As horrific as the Hamas rockets had been, the violence here [in Gaza] was much worse. [....] I knew it was impossible to give any equivalency between the situation in the Israeli towns in the south with the tragedy that was unfolding in Gaza." Civilian casualty is a part of their strategy. Their excuse that they're protecting their people from Hamas attacks does NOT justify their actions. It's hundreds of tanks and jellyfish bombs (missiles that explode in the air and release even more missiles) vs. suicide bombers and low grade rockets. They won't allow medical supplies, food rations, relief groups, or even foreign media to enter the Gaza strip. Not only is Israel depriving civilians basic survival needs, but they are also depriving them of the right to let the world know what they're goign through. When they cry out, their screams are locked in the prison Israel has trapped them in. Israel has even bombed a UN building in Gaza where 700 civilians were sheltered and burned thousands of pounds of food and aid for the civilians in desperate need of those supplies (Source). They first claimed that they were targeting Hamas in the building but then retracted their statement saying it was only a missed target. Does that make any sense to you? What is their goal anyway? To stop the violence? Violence is NEVER stopped with violence like this. Outrage and indignity spurred Hamas to attack Israel in the first place. Now, with thousands and thousands of innocent civilians scattering the streets, how does anybody in their right mind expect peace to come out of this? Even if Hamas is entirely wiped out, what about the rest of the Middle East? What about the rest of the world? The UN does not approve, but Israel throughout history has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. Israel is acting on the support of the US only. Even though everyone says they want a cease fire, the US is passively supporting Israel, and the American people continue living in ignorance, harboring more emotion for the season premier of American Idol than for the Holocaust of 2009. Is there ANYTHING I can do to make a difference? http://www.xanga.com/jzrocker/688199015/questions-for-people/

maximizing or minimizing a function? The international red cross is making plans to airlift emergency food and medical supplies into a large South American city which has recently suffered from extensive flooding. Four items will be air lifted in containers to aid in the recovery from flooding. The four items and their respective volumes per container are shown in the table. The first plane to be sent into the area that has the volume capacity 6000 cubic feet. Determine an equation whose solution set contain all possible combinations of the four items which will fill the plane to its volume capacity. Items cubic feet,: Volume per container Blood: 20 Medical supply kits: 30 Food: 8 water: 6 In a realistic sense what are maximum and minimum possible quantities of each item. I am able to the first part: 20x+30y+8z+6h=6000, where x=blood.y=medical supplies, z=food and h= water can any one help me how to maximize or minimize this equation.
How can I prepare after being recommended for expulsion? Okay, I'm tired of looking for help and ONLY finding advice on what to do if your child is expelled. I'm the child, and I want to know what I can do, not what my mother can, to attempt to make my situation better. This is my side- I was walking outside with a friend during lunch, which in itself is nothing new. We do this allot, but this time we got caught. A teacher saw us and reported it, and the officer was sent out to get us. When we saw the officer, we started to walk the other direction, but he called so we went to him and walked with him back to the school. Then they took me into the conference room in one of the sub schools, after being searched. They found a blade on me, which I had forgotten to take out of my pocket that day. Along with that, they found medical supplies in my bag. I was treating a burn I got that had become infected cause I kept scratching it by dabbing the area with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it ; and then I would soak it in hydrogen peroxide and cover it up with a band-aid. I was borrowing these two bottles from a friend of mine, and since the burn is as healed as it is going to get, I was returning it to her and had left it in my bag. So the school has three things against me, walking away from an officer, having the knife, and the medical supplies. The law has one issue, since the knife was over 3 inches (It wasn't exactly a kitchen knife, I have it for protection- I do allot of walking at night to get around). Hopefully I can get off okay with the law, since this is my first offense. If I'm lucky, I'll end up with community service and a form of counseling. The school has to take it more seriously though, being zero tolerance. So they have suspended me until they investigate further, and know whether I am being expelled or not. As of right now, I am suspended and cannot be on any of our county public school property (bus stops, etc). If they recommend me for expulsion, there will be a court trial which will determine whether I am expelled or not, and the details of the expulsion(if it is all county schools, just this school, if I can come back, etc). I have to admit that the administrators handled it very well. My grade's principle was a bit rash, but he has to be; its his job. Most of them actually treated me like a person, especially the Officer, and I respect them greatly for that. When you are dealing with someone who is doing something illegal or caught with something illegal, it is extremely easy to consider them beneath you and treat them like crap- and nobody will think twice about it. I understand that there is probably nothing I can do, but can someone tell me how this process works, or at least a place to go to so that I can find out? At this point I've been recommended, and I want to at least know the process more thoroughly before the hearing.
Someone gave me their newborn baby boy and ask me to take care of them for a few days? ? I was at a children's party with my nieces and nephews, their parents, my husband and a host of other children and their parents. This particular group of families are all politically independent and prefers to live outside of politics and legal stuff as much as possible. A pretty wholesome group of people. Very natural, free-flowing people so it is not weird or interesting that this person ask me to take care of their baby boy for a few days. No, we did not know each other or anything. Generally, we exchange contact information and they give me the baby supplies. My husband and I and our family took the baby home later realizing that the person who gave us the child did not give us a contact number or any supplies. My husband and I went to the store and bought diapers and allergy free formula for the baby plus other minor things to get us through a few days. He immediately became attached to us. We began to think how we would love to have a child of our own. A few days past and we had to go back to the location of where the baby was given to us because my husband left something there. We saw the couple who gave us the baby. We greeted each other and they seemed very happy. They asked us if we would like to keep the baby and raise him as our own. They explained that they were in no position to raise him, they do not love him and he deserve to be with a family who would love him. They further expressed how they did not want to turn him over to the courts or sign away their parental rights and have him go in the system. They explained how they have been observing us (my husband and I) for a while and observed that we would be a wonderful set of parents for their child. They shared with us some things they did such as neglect him and felt really really guilty about it which is why they decided to look for someone else who would like a child. That moment was very interesting for us. Both my husband and I agreed but then we asked if we needed to go through a social worker or the courts to have everything switched over. The baby was only 5 weeks old. The parents did not want that because they knew that the social worker would take the baby from both families and put him in a foster home. They feared that tremendously. They were really adamant about the baby staying with us. It was like an adoption without legal authorities being involved. Is there a name for that???? We set up a meeting at our home to have the parents sign papers and agreements that we came up with together. At that meeting the parents gave us everything that belonged to the baby including his birth certificate with OUR names on it, his medical records, his pediatrician, name change forms and a bunch of other papers, brand new breast pump, sooooooooooo many clothes from size 0-3 months up to toddler clothes all organic and mostly new. The only used clothes were the newborn clothes. So many shoes, hats, outdoor wear, crib, bassinet, swing, bouncy chair, 7 different carriers, 57 huge bags of diapers size ranging from newborn to pull-ups, about 100 containers of organic wipes, 12 diaper bags, a play pin, bedroom decorations, baby first aid kits, medications, 4 different strollers, 4 different carseats, and so many things that you need for a baby. They were set and my husband and I did not have to purchase anything. I had my lawyer present and they had their lawyer present. Though we did not go through the court, we agreed to have our lawyers. I figured we would do this openly where their child will still know them and visit but they wanted to cut all strings. They signed away their rights of that child to my husband and I. They made it clear that if somehow the courts became involved, the whole agreement between us would mean that they gave us permission to babysit. They refuse to sign their child to the courts. They heard so much about the system and it would kill them if they did that to their child. They would rather take him back than to have him in the system. Anyways, the mother requested that I breastfeed. I do not have any children so I was wondering if that is possible? If I start pumping and stimulating, how long will it take for the milk to come down? The only concern we had was the cultural difference. We are African American and the baby is mixed hispanic and white. He will one day begin to see that he is a different color from my husband and I. We asked the parents what we should tell him. They said to tell him that he is a special baby. Anyway, these are my questions: 1. We are are the type of family that prefers not to be involved with legals and courts and the system as well but never thought this would come up. I posted what happened and how we basically took on parenthood. Is that enough? 2. How long does it take for the milk to come down once I start pumping? 3. Should I change pediatricians or continue taking him to the same? By the way, his pe Only intelligent answers will receive a good rating. By the way, for the people who do not read in between the lines, Baby Showers is the perfect time to receive gifts. They have so much stuff because of baby showers.
Airmen/Sailors..do you feel understated sometimes? I remember when I was in the desert, this Army major came up to me when I was dealing with this unit and apparently the fact that I yawned eirked him off. He then proceeded to tell me that the Air Force shouldn't be considered a military branch, and all we do is sat in our %#@. This struck me as a surprised. I figured the major would have more common sense, you know, seeing as the fact that I was IN A WAR ZONE. Unbeknown to him, I had already live a few months with rocket and mortar attacks, some 20-30 attacks daily sometimes. I had been shot at while offloading supplies. I have even worked with the Army, I had gone out on a convoy with the Army to deliver needed supplies to a town of farmers who needed medical aid and fresh water. I remember when leaving the wire, eyes as wide as they have ever been in my life examining every piece of ground for possible IED's. I went through all of that, had some Army major tell me I am sitting on my %@! and am not apart of the military? Of course I had to bite my tongue and say nothing since he was a superior office, but that isn't the first time I've had an encounter like that. Blue are you a 2T2? Don't get me wrong, we have our shots at the Army too. I can't count how many times in basic our T.I. would say this is so easy its Army proof.

What you won't hear on your mainstream Western media about Cuba, still under US embargo? Cuba much poorer then the US (because of US embargo) is doing more real aid for Haiti then American's who are just sending guns and soldiers to watch the black people you all hate so much (just like after Katrina). There is no violence among the citizens of Haiti its just more white racism just like after Hurrican Katrina (in which Cuba offered its Henry Reeve Medical Brigade of around 1000 doctors and medical staff to treat the poor blacks affected by Katrina, that Bush turned down and said "your doing a heck of a job Brownie" and sent in the Blackwater mercenaries to kill Black Americans). http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/01/15-6 Quote- As for the rest of the US media, they have simply ignored Cuba's role and actions. In fact, left unmentioned is the reality that Cuba already had over 400 doctors posted to Haiti to help with the day-to-day health needs of this poorest nation in the Americas, and that those doctors were the first to respond to the disaster, setting up a hospital right next to the main hospital in Port-au-Prince which collapsed in the earthquake. Far from “doing nothing” about the disaster as the right-wing propagandists at Fox-TV were claiming, Cuba has been one of the most effective and critical responders to the crisis, because it had set up a medical infrastructure before the quake, which was able to mobilize quickly and start treating the victims. The American emergency response, predictably, has focussed primarily, at least in terms of personnel and money, on sending the hugely costly and inefficient US military--a fleet of aircraft and an aircraft carrier--a factor that should be considered when examining that $100 million figure the Obama administration claims is being allocated to emergency aid to Haiti. Considering that the cost of operating an aircraft carrier, including crew, is roughly $2 million a day, just sending a carrier to Port-au-Prince for two weeks accounts for a quarter of the announced American aid effort, and while many of the military personnel sent there will certainly be doing actual aid work, delivering supplies and guarding supplies, many, given America’s long history of brutal military/colonial control of Haiti, will inevitably be spending their time ensuring continued survival and control of the parasitic pro-US political elite in Haiti. Otherwise, the US has basically ignored the ongoing day-to-day human crisis in Haiti, while Cuba has been doing the yeoman work of providing basic health care. But that’s not a story that the American corporate media want to tell. end quote. And again Cuba does this all while still under a 50 year US embargo, all for overthrowing the corrupt, US backed tyrant dictator Fulgencio Batista back in the 1959 Cuban Revolution. Guns are not aid.
Should religion be banned? My parents were Christian missionaries. I spent the first seven years of my life in Zimbabwe where I grew up among people who sacrificed easy comfortable lives in their home country in order to help the poor in Africa: doctors, nurses, teachers and ministers who dedicated their lives to building hospitals and schools and supplying medical help and education to the people of Zimbabwe. You can imagine how it annoys me when I see questions posted by people in this forum pointing fingers to Christianity as the source of all evil and pleading for religion to be banned. To me they seem to believe a lie. That is why I did a search on the internet to find some proof of what Christians are doing worldwide. I found this and saved it on my laptop, but I know for certain that it is only the tip of an iceberg: 1. Last year alone, CBN Partners: ?provided medical treatment to over 785,000 people; ?drilled clean, fresh water wells and cisterns for over 425,000 thirsty people; ?ended the suffering of over 625 children through cleft palate surgery; ?provided hundreds of thousands of meals; ?paid the school tuition and gave supplies to thousands of young students. 2. Emmanuel Activity Centre (EAC) COH runs a day activity centre called Emmanuel Activity Centre (EAC), serving people who have: Down’s syndrome Intellectual disabilities Autism spectrum disorder Cerebral palsy Multiple disabilities 3.We operate across the spectrum of violent conflict: from displacement to repatriation, from rehabilitation to the re-development of conflict-damaged communities. CORD’s key sectors are education and livelihoods. Our work also addresses cross-cutting issues: child protection, gender violence, trauma, HIV/AIDS, environmental issues and forgiveness and reconciliation. And if you feel you could help instead of criticizing other people, here’s a useful website: http://www.tearfund.org/ Now tell me: Do you honestly believe that religion should be banned? My intention wasn't to discuss the pro's and cons of missionary work, but to point out how unfair people's comments about religion are. However, Sharmel has brought up a valid point. I agree that there is the danger of Christians coming across as arrogant when they try to convert people from other religions. On the other hand, a lot of missionaries don't force their faith onto people but simply offer their services and invite people to church. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with that. The missionaries who worked with my parents were humble, loving, non-judgmental people who were there to serve. They were greatly loved and respected by the Wakaranga, the group they befriended: people who were previously severely suppressed by another tribe in Zimababwe.
where can I get help? I need financial help. I prepared for one thing and it has been a snowball effect. First child support stops, then sick child, medical expenses, over 200 in medication, private school, windshield cracked from one side to another. I have raised my credit record from 505 to 585 in only a year of being divorced. I can't see all that work go to pot. How am I going to fix my windshield? how am I going to go to mayo for my son at the end of the month? Do you know any organizations to help? I am nonstate aid and the last thing done by child support recovery was Sept. 9 and that was only a try to locate. I gave them a number and an address!! My son fell ill when public school was constantly feeding him stuff he could not have. He's allergies where on the prescreening. I also sent all his food. That is why he is in private (which is going great!!!) now. THat meant new supplies, uniforms and tuition. Can anyone help? I am full time student with a 3.5 gpa and work about 30hrs a week. Welfare wants me to do seminars which I would basically have to dropp out of school. I have insurance just not glass coverage. It froze last night and cracked all the way from one side to another. To answer some concerns; I do not have a T.V. to sell and I need my computer for school. I have recieved scolarships for school however that covers tuition and gas I drive a total of 40 miles a day M-F. I do not feel that my problems are others responsiblity, remember I stuck with school instead of going on DHS. I want us to have a good life not on assistance. THe school I had spoken to on several occasions and they still did not listen. When my child ended up with severe respritory ditress and went to the ER from public school not adhering I couldn't not with a mothers heart send him back. I am not out there just for money as a matter of fact I give when I am at church and also given 5 or 10 here or there to people in need. I have been through stillbirth, abuse, sick child, divorce and much more. I am just asking for suggestion for help. It is my responsibility to provide for my son however I am doing the best I can. I don't think it is fair dad gets away w/o helping!! THankyou so much to everyone who has been kind in giving information!!
Isn't THIS just one MORE reason to deport illegals???They are using money meant for LEGAL citizens!!!? Hospitals: Aid to offset costs of immigrants is necessary September 24, 2006 Jennifer C. Smith Monitor Staff Writer MISSION — Between 20 and 25 undocumented immigrants arrive each week for kidney dialysis at Mission Regional Medical Center’s emergency room. “They have no way of paying for it, and in six months they rack up $750,000,” said Mitch Ladyman, the hospital’s trauma coordinator. “That’s just a number we’ll never get reimbursed.” And while the federal government has a $1 billion federal program intended to help with unpaid hospital emergency care, a recent Associated Press report shows a large chunk of that money has gone uncollected by cash-strapped hospitals. Federal officials can’t explain why overburdened communities have not grabbed the cash. Nationally, only 15 percent of the money has been handed out three-quarters of the way through the program’s first year, according to the AP. Texas as a whole is slated to receive almost $25 million for the 2006 fiscal year. Rio Grande Valley hospital officials say they take whatever disbursement they can or risk cutting hospital services essential to the community. “We’ve definitely applied for and have definitely gotten some of it,” said Dan McLean, CEO at South Texas Health Systems in McAllen, which includes McAllen Medical Center and Edinburg Regional Medical Center. The health group has collected about $2.41 million since it filed its first claim for its five facilities in February 2006. That may seem large, but in the last eight months alone, the hospitals have provided more than $118 million in uncompensated care, said hospital group spokeswoman Dalinda Guillen. The $1 billion financial dispensation is through September 2008 and authorized under the 2003 Medicare law. Hospitals are paid a percentage of the ER costs on quarterly cycles, so they receive money six to nine months after the actual procedures. Some hospitals are reluctant to apply for funds because they don’t want to do the paperwork, say hospital and public health officials. The government also trims submitted hospital bills and returns money based on costs, not on services provided. Hospitals feel uncomfortable asking patients about their citizenship status. “A lot of undocumented patients already don’t access care,” said Sonal Ambegaokar, a health policy attorney at the National Immigration Law Center, a non-partisan policy center that works with low-income immigrants based in Los Angeles. “The few that go in, if they hear they are being asked about their immigration status, they’ll assume they’ll not be able to get care … that will affect the public health.” Local hospitals dismiss the objections, noting the required paperwork is only two pages long and their employees are trained to sensitively ask questions. “I understand the reluctance of a hospital that doesn’t see that many undocumented patients,” said Mission hospital Chief Financial Officer Randy Slack. “But when you’re treating a number of undocumented patients, it’s worth your while to go through all the hoops and troubles to get partial reimbursements.” Mission’s hospital has also received a “six-figure amount,” he said. “It covers cost of supplies and labor, operations to treat those patients who are undocumented,” Slack said. “If money went away, we might have to find other areas to cut to keep bottom line balanced.” For South Texas Health Systems, the trauma room or pediatric ICU unit could become financial casualties if it continues to lose money through uncollected ER care, McLean said. "tristanrobbins" The ONLY thing that MATTERS here,is that as ILLEGALS,they should have NO DAMN RIGHT to even be treated in THIS country, using OUR tax dollars!!!! And to "munyacarr", actually YES, my family are part native American, and i STILL do NOT like our tax dollars being WASTED on NONcitizens!!!
Hey guys, I Need advice on adderall xr and xanax xr combinations.. PLZ!!!? First of all before i get to my question, Id like to add why I myself use these meds in the first place and maybe my vew will help others get more knowledgeable : ) As most of us know, I in this case and many others with similar disorders are screwed unless they get too the psychological/emotional root of the problem and work on themselves towards complete recovery through cognitive therapy.. keep in mind LONG TERM* But as of now, I and I'm sure many others don't have the time or the resources to get to the correct therapy and truly assess the roots of problem through releasing their repressed emotions. At this point, I can easily say that alot of us only have the ability to numb the effects chemically and make the best of it while it lasts and while they still can.(insurance or buying for the drugs) We all know success in any environment requires self assertiveness, but I think that what too many people fail to understand the difficulties involved in getting through such disorders without aid. Many times this is impossible without short term use of medication to jump start their success and hopefully after that get the true cure though harmless drug free cognitive therapy, they wont need the meds ever again. I think people really need to become more understanding and educated about why people with mental disorders such as mine (or worse) would resort to destroying their brain chemistry's and bodies by using such dangerous med's which are pretty much more or less illegal street drugs such as cocaine(adderall) and pretty much prescription alcohol(xanax). Only an idiot would ingest and sooner or later abuse these poisons if they didnt have any medical basis for the drug. It feels so great to live a normal life, Disordered people take them to simply function like normal people and to live up to their true potentials. Its a trade off. disordered and debilitating unproductive natural life or chemically induced life of productivity with risks of lifelong health consequences and addiction. BTW, sorry I went a bit off topic... however im sure it was worth the reading either way xD Hey, I'm experimenting on prescription medication for my ADHD combined type coexisting with an anxiety disorder called social phobia(fear of social interaction with others for no logical reason, in response the body triggers its fight or flight defence mechanism and thinks your being attacked. so it prepares you for self defence and attack), and deficits with verbal expression but above average and possibly a generalized anxiety disorder as well. I was prescribed a one month supply of Generic Adderall IR at first and my doc let me experiment up to 40mg. I have a 60 day supply of Adderall XR(10mg) and 30 day supply of Adderall IR (10mg), and 30 day supply of recently prescribed Xanax XR(1mg). I have the adderall in my closet for over half a year and finished only half of the XR and used only 10 IR pills. So that says something... I didn't like IR because I didn't like the sudden pick me up, it felt very unnatural and and that isnt the reason I take these meds So he switched me too Adderall XR(brand) which is supposedly smoother and better for the crash when the med wears off He also prescribed me Xanax XR(brand)(30 x 1mg) to try for my social anxiety. The adderall gives me high blood pressure, high pulse, and a form of anxiety(it improves my social anxiety by a little and either way i can still talk to people normally, i just feel very tense and stiff, I become disrespectful to others because I interrupt and blurt what others would say before they finish their points, and sometimes paranoid) ive been commented... , it was very hard to urinate and sometimes it was impossible until an hour or so later (this was on 30mg Adderal XR), and muscle tension(crack my knuckles very very often), jitters at first, very dry dry mouth, some appetite loss, extremely cold hands and feet, and finally i sometimes I get motor ticks on my thighs, arms, and feet. I'd like too reduce/eliminate all or at least majority of the overstimulation of the bodies nervous system and organs caused by the stimulant medication Adderall; by taking it in conjunction with Xanax to level out the effects and hopefully greatly minimize the possible long term heart, blood pressure/circulation problems, and all other problems associated with the use of Adderall or any other strong stimulant. Id like to feel the benefits of the adderall without the physical stimulation and anxiety it manifests. I was thinking adderall XR(brand) 70mg(7*10mg pills)(which really is 35mg at first then 35 more later) with 2mg of Xanax XR(brand). I want too know if I chose too much Xanax or too much of the adderall.. Does anyone have any experience with this? Anyone try the same thing? Can anyone recommend me a good combination? Any better medication combinations? Do you think a Beta-Blocker like Inderall would be a good idea as opposed too Xanax X
Can someone revise my Essay Please ! ? Africa (South of the Sahara Desert and North of the equator) By: Laura Pinheiro Henrique Africa has many serious development problems, education is one of them. The biggest problems with education in many African nations are: a lack of funding and a lack of qualified teachers. Most of the educated Africans look to Europe, The United States and other better developed areas of the world to move to, so that they can make more money and live comfortably. In Africa, millions of children don't have the opportunity to receive any education because of the massive poverty and diseases. Pushing education would greatly help Africa in each of the other problematic areas like gathering food, protecting their health, and other necessary parts of survival.43% of 35 African countries have an adult literacy rate of less than 60%! On the Global Literacy map it shows that very few countries in Africa get a literacy rate of 70% and higher. An education provides you with opportunities. Opportunities to get a job to make money, opportunities to find things that you enjoy, and opportunities to make connections to other people. Another very serious development problem would be AIDS and HIV and the lack of medicine to cure it. Africa is home to 70% of adults and 80% of children living with HIV in the world. It is estimated that in 2003 close to 2.3 million people died of HIV- related illness in Africa. Since the beginning of this epidemic more than15 million Africans have died from Aids. Aids have lowered the life expectancy rate to 40 or less in many countries! Although there is no cure for AIDS, drug cocktails and improved medical care in developing countries is significantly extending the lives of people living with HIV. Very few Africans can afford the drugs needed to fight AIDS, which can cost between $500 and $1,000 a month; also many African governments do not have funds to import these drugs. The average African nation spends less than $10 per person each year on health care. Of 24 million people or so with HIV, a large number of them don't even know that they are infected. To fight this lack of funds, the United Nations are urging developed countries to fund the war on HIV. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words “Clean Water”? I think of all the people in Africa who don't have access to clean water. We take its abundance for granted, but in much of the world, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, access to clean water is a luxury. According to the United Nations, more than half of Africa's population lacks access to clean water. That’s about three hundred sixty million people. Two of every five Africans lack access to an improved water supply. In rural Africa, women commonly walk 3.75 miles each day to the nearest water source to fetch water to drink. In some parts of Africa, women use up as much as 85% of their daily energy intake on getting water, increasing incidences of anemia which occurs when the level of healthy red blood cells in the body becomes too low and other health problems also occur do to lack of clean water. Having unclean water can result to bad sanitation which also impacts hygiene. The best way, so far, that this problem has been dealt with is by community effort. Community organizations donate and/or grant to help fix this problem. Unclean water contains bacteria, viruses, etc. In result many diseases are caught. Millions of people are stricken by diseases that could have been prevented if safe drinking water existed on the African continent. An example is Mozambique who has 42% of clean water! A really good solution that people came up with is the Play Pump system: while children have fun spinning on the Play Pump, water is being pumped from underground and it can produce up to 1400 liters of clean water each hour. The Human Development Index is used to distinguish whether a country is a developed, a developing, or an under-developed country, and also to measure the impact of economic policies on quality of life. The different scores for each country are added and averaged as one final number. On the Human Development index it shows that Nigeria and other African countries have a score from 0-0.49 and is in the category of “low”, which means that they don't have a good education, health and wealth system. This affects the popularity of the country and the population, making many people not wanting to live in that certain area because of that country's average score. Africa's living standard is extremely low, the average African has scarce access to safe drinking water and most commonly lacks plumbing. Sub-Saharan Africa in particular is one the world's poorest regions. According to the World Bank 74.9% of the population lived on less than $2 a day in 2003; 44% lived on less than $1 a day. Most of the foreign aid that is pledged rarely gets to Africa, foreign aid is needed, but they need us to teach them how to f
Baby booner generation was the anti-establishment generation. What Happened? Eliminate insurance because it is the main cause of health care being so expensive. When government regulates and guarantees profitable prices through plans as Medicaid, Medicare and AIDS Drug Assistance Program non medical politicians create plans that limit eligibility for citizens who need the plan and eligibility for medical caregivers to be reimbursed while assuring the bulk of our designated federal funds goes to those who own for profit institutions (who make large political donations for these eligibility rules that prevent paying out money for intended causes). This plans guarantee prices (ie. AIDS drug that costs $40 a month’s supply to produce may be sold to Africa for $80 a month supply, sold to Canada for $350, and because ADAP secured the price of $950 per infected person per month any one not eligible for ADAP must pay the high price because pharmaceutical Co’s is in business to make money and will not sell for less than what insurance plans will pay.) Health insurance ruins supply and demand. Since 1988 many hospitals are for-profit now, originally they had to turn a profit for the owners to earn money. In 1994, during the Clinton administration, for profit hospitals were given the approval to receive federal funding, so now 20 - 60 million dollars goes to any given for profit institution in the US that show debt= owners pay themselves and non-medical CEO’s 4 million annually plus 20% tax free bonus plus unlimited healthcare and other benefit packages and they are 20 – 60 million dollars in debt and eligible for our federal tax funding while many middle class tax paying citizens must go without basic health care and prevention intervention. The Clinton-Bush administrations, first baby boomers to be Presidents have led administrations that give government the power to redistribute working class earnings through taxes that means this class supports the rich and the poor, the administrations that made congress and our president above common FICA taxes, Medicare and Social Security by deeming tax payers will just pay all their unlimited health care out of pocket; there are rules for everything (Remember the song "Signs"? There is a freakin rule and sign for everything. Our infrastructure/highways is falling apart and the geniuses in office giving themselves annual raises (that will become their pension at our expense) far exceeding the working class increases want to sell our highways to our enemies in other nations and/or ticket every driver for what ever reason they feel like (Va. A speeding ticket is $3000. a sum that will ruin many families- but if a politician gets caught he/she will most like get off Scot-free- couldn’t congress stop giving themselves raises and maybe let our tax money be used in a better way such as repairing our highways?) Congressmen salaries begin at 162,000. a year plus unlimited healthcare 2/3rs their pay for the rest of their life. Considering just the base pay (not raises or previous benefits such as first ladies salary for rest of their life- double dipping if one held both positions) $162,000 x 2/3rd pension plan only = $107,989.00 x 506 reps in office = $54,642,535.20 annually for reps no longer working part-time as public servants. Add this to the ones actively in office and this number more than triples to annuals costs to the American people. Personal greed of those in office does impact working class people unable to pay for their own healthcare because of legislation made by these representatives. This dies not include the salary of the President that raised to $400,000 annually/$300,000 retirement during Clintons term. 54,642,535.20 x 3 (current active rep salaries) = 163,927,605.60 annually (controlled by cutting it in half- $81,963,803.) would be a good start to fix health care of the working class or to fix our highways. If nothing else, at least freeze their current benefits and stop selling our land and jobs to other nations until America’s own problems are resolved.
Hi, I have a question for fellow bottle-feeding mums? Hi, I'm fairly new to this forum, but smart enough to know the drama that goes on in here, from just mentioning the word 'formula'. I promise I am not trying to start drama, this is a genuine question aimed at mother who bottle feed, but if you breastfeed and are also willing to offer advice, that would be great! First of all, I'll start of by saying I'm a young mum of 20, I have a son who has been bottle fed from day 5. Why? I guess I can't give a genuine medical reason, I didn't have cancer, I didn't need strong medicines, my son was not born with any problems, there was no supply issues, I just was not coping. Having a baby was extremely overwhelming, much to the point I was diagnosed with PPD. I went into the whole process thinking it would be as easy as placing the baby on the breast, no pain, no tears, just a happy breast fed baby with a happy mummy! Boy was I wrong. Anyway, I do have a point, it's just taking me a long to to get therei. So, my son is formula fed, but my question is 'Formula feeding mummies, does it hurt you when some (Certainly not all, only a VERY small minority) say that you do not have a proper bond with your child, simply because you did not breastfeed?' I just don't understand how you could not be as bonded, this isn't a rant, this is my genuine question. I've read a few things on here, some very hurtful! But I just feel so close to my son even though he is bottle fed, I don't get how feeding him from a bottle would change that! I understand the closeness aspect of breastfeeding, But it's not as if I am giving my son a bottle from 6 feet away I was told the skin to skin contact played a major part, could someone please help me understand? I mean that in the most civil of ways, it was not supposed to sound rant-y. Anyway, to finish, I really hope this doesn't start problems, I don't want any debates or nasty comments, I guess I just want to see if other mothers are in the same boat. If I am able to have another child, I will do everything in my power to breastfeed successfully, until my child weans itself. I have already begun to research it further and order materials to aid me, something I should have done for my first child.

ok obama supporters what has he done? don't say he is for "change" whatever that means here is some of what hillary has done She serves on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee; the Environment and Public Works Committee; the Special Committee on Aging; and she is the first New Yorker ever to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee. - After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Senator Clinton worked with her colleagues to secure the funds New York needed to rebuild. - In 2004, Senator Clinton was asked by the Department of Defense to serve as the only Senate member of the Transformation Advisory Group to the Joint Forces Command. She has visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; at Fort Drum in New York, home of the 10th Mountain Division; and at Walter Reed Military Hospital to learn first hand the challenges facing American combat forces. She is an original sponsor of legislation that expanded health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves. - In the Senate, she has continued her work for children and families by leading efforts to ensure the safety of prescription drugs for children, with legislation now included in the Pediatric Research Equity Act; working to strengthen the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which increased coverage for children in low income working families; and helping schools address environmental hazards. - Senator Clinton continues to work to increase access to health care. She authored legislation that has been enacted to improve recruitment and retention of nurses, to improve quality and lower the cost of prescription drugs, and to protect our food supply from bioterrorism. She sponsored legislation to increase America’s commitment against Global AIDS, and is now leading the fight for expanded use of information technology in the health care system to decrease administrative costs and reduce medical errors. - To encourage business expansion, Senator Clinton co-sponsored legislation enacted in 2004 to extend tax credits to communities in regions designated as Renewal Communities. - Senator Clinton has spoken clearly about the importance of protecting our constitutional rights, respecting such landmark Supreme Court decisions as Roe v. Wade. - Strongly committed to making sure that every American has the right to vote in fair, accessible and credible elections – and that every vote must be counted, Senator Clinton introduced the Count Every Vote Act of 2005, to provide a verified paper ballot for every vote cast in electronic voting machines; set a uniform standard for provisional ballots, and require the Federal Election Assistance Commission to issue standards that ensure uniform access to voting machines and election personnel in every community. -She voted for what she felt was right at the time; she did not vote "present" 136 times. just as i thought nothing great speaker

How much should I charge for summer babysitting? I have recently been offered a summer babysitting job for 2 children, ages 8 and 11. The parents want to know what I would charge, and I suggested $8 an hour or a flat $50 a day (eg. for an 8 hour work day). I am a university student, am highly trained in first aid/medical response and have a lot of experience with children. The price would be be for both children and I would pay for craft supplies, treats and outings with my wages. The family has a pool so there would be a lot of heavy supervision of the children. Do these rates seem like too much considering how old the children are? (This is for the Greater Toronto Area). Please let me know if these rates are reasonable, I've never done full-time babysitting before!

pregnancy gift - how to respond? i'm 10 weeks pregnant and i just got a package and card from my mother in law: 'congrats on your first pregnancy, this is the best gift i can offer you and the baby. if you decide to take them, i will supply them to you for the entire pregnancy' the package contained probiotic supplements. clearly on the box it said "not FDA approved, ask your doctor before taking if you are pregnant or nursing" so, first of all, i already take probiotics and prenatal vitamins, which have all been inspected and okay'd by my doctor. i don't want to switch brands, nor do i want to bother my doctor to ask him about these supplements. (my next appointment is a month away) on top of all this, i'm in nursing school right now and my MIL has absolutely no medical background (she's an elementary school teacher). honestly i'm rather insulted by this gift. money is tight right now and there are so many other things she could have bought me (and offer to supply for the entire pregnancy). this isn't the first time she gave us something wacky - she gave my husband several diet books that she was suggesting we use. and also something called a 'zapper' - it sends mild electric currents through your body to kill parasites (which, according to the zapper's inventor, are the cause of ever physical ailment known to man, including AIDS and cancer). but this is the first thing she's given directly to me. i do NOT want to encourage these gifts, but i also don't want to be rude because i'm sure in her eyes, she means well. how should i respond? TIA
First aid or buy it all seperate? I'm looking in to buying medical supplies that would go in a first aid kit and I need the prices for all of it to compare prices but I can't seem to find the prices. Would I just be better off getting a first aid kit?
too old for something like work experience? I have a disability, spina bifida, and use a wheelchair, and ive basically never had a job. due to various things. some my fault, some out of my control. but now, im looking for something, ive basically had enough of not getting something out of life and not feeling a sense of purpose. like many people with disabilities, but due to the disability and never having worked i feel like i need to sort of prove to employers, and myself, that im capable of doing the kind of thing id like to try to get into. I recently decided a good area to work in would be something to do with medical/disability products/equipment/supplies/aids etc as, like i said im disabled myself, but obviosuly not on the medical side of things, it would be in a non degree requiring role. im thinking more on the sales, or storage and supplies side at my local hospital or something. and when i say medical supplies i dont just mean medical, i mean anything and everything you might find in a hospital. i found myself, last time i was on a hospital visit, looking at all the different things in the hospital, its a huge range of stuff, and i think it would be an interesting, varied job to work in that area. but as i i said because ive not had a job i feel the need to first show employers and myself that im capable, but the thing is, im 35 now, i just cant help thinking its a bit late for voluntary or work experience. would the NHS or anything like that be prepared to allow me to do something like voluntary or work experience as a way in? im more than prepared to to prove myself.
Does Dr. Phil understand that none the things he states were accomplished via free market? Dr Phil defended the free market system in an earlier question with this statement. "You mean the free market that saw this nation through two world wars and produced enough arms and supplies to take an army to victory you mean the free market that survived the great depression and still lives you mean the one that feeds and sends medical aid and humanitarian aid the world over the one that is first and foremost in almost every singe disaster area the planet has happen that free market yea I can hang with my countrymen on this one over the government bent on standing on our heads." Does he realize that none of the things he cites were accomplished via free market strategies? football it is you who are mistaken sock monkey i'm referring to the poster; not the actual guy. He goes by the handle 'Dr. Phile of ****"

Massive Israeli Aid to Gaza - Is It For Real? And if it is why is Al-Jazeerah not reporting it? According to The Canada-Israel Committee did a fascinating analysis of the humanitarian aid to delivered to Gaza - and what it means in real terms for Gazans. Here's what the CIC concluded: Over one million tons of humanitarian supplies were delivered by Israel to the people of Gaza in the past 18 months – that’s equal to nearly one ton of aid for every man, woman and child in Gaza. In the first quarter of 2010 alone (January-March), Israel delivered 94,500 tons of supplies to Gaza. It’s very easy to miss what that actually means for the people of Gaza. The breakdown includes: * 40,000 tons of wheat – which is equal to 53 million loaves of bread; * 2,760 tons of rice – which equals 69 million servings; * 1,987 tons of clothes and footwear – the equivalent weight of 3.6 million pairs of jeans; and * 553 tons of milk powder and baby food – equivalent to over 3.1 million days of formula for an average six-month-old baby. This reflects a long-term effort on the part of Israel to deliver a massive and comprehensive supply of aid to Gaza’s civilians * During the Muslim holy days of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, Israel shipped some 11,000 head of cattle into Gaza – enough to provide 8.8 million meals of beef; * More than 3,000 tons of hypochlorite were delivered by Israel to Gaza for water purification purposes – that’s 60 billion gallons of purified water; and * Israel brought some 4,883 tons of medical equipment and medicine into Gaza – a weight equivalent to over 360,000 260-piece mobile trauma first aid kits. You can read more about this in the link below. http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/About+the+Ministry/Behind+the+Headlines/Israeli_humanitarian_lifeline_Gaza_25-May-2010.htm Here are my questions: 1. Is this a total fabrication? 2. If it is not a fabrication, why is the international press not acknowledging it? 3. Would it be in the interest of the Arab media, such as Al-Jazeerah, media in Muslim countries, and the anti-zionist leftist world press not to acknowledge it? Or do media sources such as this have a stellar track record in fair and honest reporting? 4. If there is Aid does this fly in the face of the charges of some people in this section, and the governments of countries like Turkey, that Israel is engaged in active genocide against the Palestinian people , and the people of Gaza? 5, Would it be fair to cut off all Aid to Gaza unless the government of Hamas agrees to release Gilad Shalit who was kidnapped in Israel proper four years ago? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilad_Shalit It is difficult to find independent verification of the aid. However, I do think it is out there or can be had. The international press, in my opinion, is more interested in promoting a very negative perception of Israel. It wold be wise for Israel to verify this aid, and then as it has been mentioned call an inquiry into why the international media is so biased against it.

Femoral artery nicked by a knife...? I'm writing a story, and need some medical advice. The character is attacked and stabbed in the thigh with a knife. The blade nicks the femoral artery. As there is no hospital nearby, and they only have access to basic first aid supplies and little medical knowledge, do you think cauterising the bleeding artery would work to save the victims life? Thanks for any advice you can give.
Is "humanitarian aid" doing just the opposite? We send billions in food and medical aid to third world nations. This has had the effect of populations in those areas exploding. Fact still remains though these people live in areas that cannot support the base populations we helped in the first place and our help has only caused them to breed more and more dependent people. In the end when the supplies begin to dwindle won't the inevitable losses of people be far larger. I am not referring to short term disaster aid just the ongoing long term feeding and health care for areas that can't support the populations. Lothringer....seems your second point is failing miserably.

General Student Aid and Loan Questions? So I'm in my second year of undergraduate studies and I've realized I need more money then I'm currently generating. Since my father was the one who initially signed me up for FAFSA I never really got the full breakdown of what was going on/what it is. I know he took out a loan in my name to help, but I dont know much or anything about it other then the letters I get in the mail saying its been bought and sold. Im at a cross roads where I was hoping to get some more help financially for school supplies since my monthly budget at the moment barely makes rent and bills. My confusion: I have a subsidized loan. Im not sure what "Stafford" is but it doesnt appear to be anywhere on the papers I have regarding the loan. If its true that my loan cannot exceed x amount per school year, where can I go to get more then just 3-5k? _A direct loan from a bank? _Are there other types? _Is it possible to have more then just this one loan and would it be considered a "student loan" (ie: can I have 2 at once)? _I thought of walking into Bank of America since I've the vague memory of the loan my father taking out being from BoA; but upon asking the associate informed me BoA doesnt do student loans... if this is true why does one of my bought-and-sold notifications say it was bought/sold from BoA? The way FAFSA works and what it does?: Does FAFSA examine my parent(s) income and decide how much of this subsidized loan I can have? So in essence, my current loan is my financial aid from the government? _If I have to pay it back, and if it truly was a student loan from BoA, where does the aid from the government come in: their covering of the 4-year interest while Im at school? What I'm looking to get is about $20-24k to help with supplies, tuition, and anything else I might need for the next two years. My credit is more or less at 0 since I've never had a credit card and the only mark against it is a medical bill. I've tried applying for a student card from BoA but was declined so I'm looking into a Secure card... which I would need the loan to put the payment into in the first place to help with gaining some credit. My father has agreed to co-sign if (and very likely) my credit is not enough. Is what Im asking for too much for a "student" loan and I would need to seek a bank to help with a direct loan? Please help me ;__; <3

What type of equipment/supplies would you need in case of a Hurricane Katrina/Earthquake/Zombie Apocalypse? This might seem childish, but please bear with me. I live in Southern California and I have a huge concern with a mega devastation hitting here in the future. With that being said, my friends and I had debated and questioned what items we would need to survive for a week. You know, have some type of duffel bag or "emergency kit" to grab and go in case our house is literally torn into pieces or if we're required to abandoned our living quarters. The following items we came up with were... Guns (preferably revolvers), ammunition, emergency water pouches, survival knife, mag lite (flashlight), emergency blanket, MRE's, granola bars, boots, emergency fire starter, first aid kit, and medical supplies. Anything else that we're missing? We did not include canned food because their shelf life is very short and carries too much weight. Also, where do you recommend to purchase most of the supplies aside from the guns? Wal Mart? Surplus Stores? Costco? Amazon?
Who can help with this? I was taking classes at a local technical college. It has been awful from the beginning. I had hoped to start at tech and transfer to a four-year college to become a teacher. I enrolled in their program and did a bridge program after talking to an advisor. Then, after I had completed one whole semester, the same advisor told me that I was in the wrong program and taking the wrong courses. She put me in "the right program" and said that I wasted the first semester, but it was okay because I was in the correct program now. I wasn't sure, so I went on the colleges website and researched. It showed that the original program that I was in was the correct program. I was already into my second semester at this point. I talked to a different advisor this time. She said she didn't know why the first advisor had switched me but that she couldn't switch me again or my financial aid would be effected. Apparently, I was switched between programs by the first advisor more than three times and that is all that is allowed or your financial aid is cut off. I finished a total of three semesters, with a 3.75 GPA, and got nothing out of it. Because I was getting nowhere with that, I decided to do a continuing education program for CNA. I paid out-of-pocket for this. I called the school to find out if there would be any other supplies needed (I assumed some medical supplies, since it's a CNA course) but they said no. I also asked where to get my books from because I wasn't sure since it wasn't a traditional program. They said that I get them from the bookstore on campus. I went a couple days later to get the books and they then told me that the instructor would give them to me on the first day. I went the first day and the instructor told me that she did not have them and that I am supposed to get them from the bookstore. I ended up having to take a test without ever having a book. I couldn't study. Then, they also told me that I would need a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope from the bookstore. But, they also told me that, at this point, the bookstore was closed and I could not get it. Finally, I called the head of the continuing ed. dept. to ask for a refund. She told me that I could not have a refund because I did not give proper notice before the class started. I had intended on taking the class until I had all of these problems, though. She basically called me a liar and said that I didn't really have all of these problems. Who can I contact to try and get some help with this? At this point, I don't want to take the classes with them, I would just like a refund.
College won't refund my money? I was taking classes at a local technical college. It has been awful from the beginning. I signed up for my classes with the HELP of the advisor. I went into the meeting knowing what program I wanted to get into. She told me what was best for me to take, though. An advisor is there to do just that - advise. I assumed that she knew more about it than I did, since she has been doing this for quite some time, and agreed to go into the program with the bridge option. I wasn't wasting anyone's time or government money. I looked at tons of programs and tons of schools before making my final decision. You really should not be allowed to give anyone advice because it is of no help at all.
Lifeguard personal firstaid kit? Im a lifeguard at my local pool, and im not too confidant about the first aid supplies that are kept in the office. They really just have the basics, like band aids, neosporin, burn relief pads and thats about it. I also want a personal kit i can keep in a fanny pack so i dont have to go to the office to get medical supplies during an emergency. Could anyone give me a list on what might be good supplies to have in a small fanny pack sized kit?
can someone proofread my paragraph? Question: Write a supported opinion (persuasive) paragraph answering the following question: Why is it important to prepare for a disaster? Answer: You should always be prepare for a disaster at anytime because, you can never know what might happen in the future. First of all, before a disaster hits, you should be prepared to know what to do. Therefore, by creating an emergency action plan it can help reduce the stress and fear that comes from a disaster. Secondly, you should be prepared at anytime to be self-sufficient for at least three days. It’s important to have the proper essentials available. For example, food, water, and clothing to survive. Thirdly, it’s important to know where you need to go in case you and your family need to be evacuated and take refuge in a public shelter. Fourthly, before a disaster you should have the proper supplies and equipment to care for any basic medical needs. Therefore, if your loved ones are hurt you should be prepared to have the first aid kit ready. Finally, it’s important to prepare for a disaster to help others in need. Therefore, if you yourself are already fully prepared then you can help others that lack the proper essentials themselves. Clearly, preparing for a disaster will protect yourself, your family, and community in the event of a future emergency. Thanks to anyone that proofreads my paragraph.

First aid kit supplies? I was wondering if you guys knew any good websites to order equine medical supplies for my horse first aid kit? I'm looking for quality and reasonable pricing! Thanks so much! :)
What do you have in your horses first aid kit? What medical supplies do you have in a first aid kit for your horse? I'm trying to get stuff together incase I end up moving my horse to a different barn (closer to school, trainers at both barns are friends so it works out great for me getting her moved). So far I have iodine spray and vet wrap (just grabbed some small cheaper things on my last shopping trip). What else is good to have?
Is it a good idea for an EMT to have a small personal bag? I just got certified and was thinking of getting a bag together of some basic medical supplies to keep in my car or dorm room at school. Nothing fancy just some gloves, bandages, dressings, wound cleaning liquids, steth/cuff, and a penlight. In case something happens while I'm off duty, I'd like to be able to help. What is the legality of me doing BLS skills if I'm not on duty though? I wouldn't be doing much more than first aid and taking vitals. Wouldn't I be practicing without a medical director? And if I let them go, wouldn't it be abandonment?
Can someone explain tho me? I am confused about this assignment.? Rewrite the following paragraph so that the resource material flows with the remainder of the paragraph. A person considering the cost of school athletics must first consider salaries of coaches, custodians, trainers, and band directors. James Johnson said, "Equipment is another major cost." Equipment includes uniforms for athletes, marching band, pompon line, cheerleaders, and other groups whose function is tied to the athletics program. Equipment includes balls, bats, nets, clubs, laundry and cleaning costs, first-aid supplies, and medical supplies. Johnson also discusses utility costs. "Some are directly related to the sports program such as lighting and air conditioning." Water used by the team for showers should be included (26).
Has anyone heard what happened on November 8, 1965, this is kinda lengthy, sorry.? There's this really good song by Big and Rich called 8th of November. This is how I found out what happened that day. uh screw this I'll just copy and paste. On November 8, 1965 then-Specialist Five Lawrence Joel and his battalion of paratroopers were sent on a patrol for Viet Cong soldiers near Bien Hoa, warzone "D" in the heart of Vietnam, conducting Operation Hump. Joel and his battalion shortly found themselves in a Viet Cong ambush, outnumbered six to one. Under heavy gunfire, Joel did his duty as a medic, administering first aid to wounded soldiers. Joel defied orders to stay to the ground and risked his life to help the many wounded soldiers; nearly every soldier in the lead squad was either wounded or killed in the battle. Even after being shot twice (once in the right thigh and once in the right calf), Joel continued to do his job; he bandaged his wounds and continued to help the wounded in not only his unit, but in the nearby company as well. When his medical supplies were depleted, he hobbled around the battlefield for more, using a makeshift crutch. Joel attended to thirteen troops and saved the life of one soldier who suffered from a severe chest wound by improvising and placing a plastic bag over the soldier's chest in order to seal the wound until the supplies were refreshed. After the firefight which lasted over twenty four hours, Joel was hospitalized and shipped to locations including Saigon, Vietnam and Tokyo, Japan to recover. Shortly after, he received the Silver Star for his activities on November 8, 1965. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty. Sp6c. Joel demonstrated indomitable courage, determination, and professional skill when a numerically superior and well-concealed Viet Cong element launched a vicious attack which wounded or killed nearly every man in the lead squad of the company. After treating the men wounded by the initial burst of gunfire, he bravely moved forward to assist others who were wounded while proceeding to their objective. While moving from man to man, he was struck in the right leg by machine gun fire. Although painfully wounded his desire to aid his fellow soldiers transcended all personal feeling. He bandaged his own wound and self-administered morphine to deaden the pain enabling him to continue his dangerous undertaking. Through this period of time, he constantly shouted words of encouragement to all around him. Then, completely ignoring the warnings of others, and his pain, he continued his search for wounded, exposing himself to hostile fire; and, as bullets dug up the dirt around him, he held plasma bottles high while kneeling completely engrossed in his life saving mission. Then, after being struck a second time and with a bullet lodged in his thigh, he dragged himself over the battlefield and succeeded in treating 13 more men before his medical supplies ran out. Displaying resourcefulness, he saved the life of one man by placing a plastic bag over a severe chest wound to congeal the blood. As 1 of the platoons pursued the Viet Cong, an insurgent force in concealed positions opened fire on the platoon and wounded many more soldiers. With a new stock of medical supplies, Sp6c. Joel again shouted words of encouragement as he crawled through an intense hail of gunfire to the wounded men. After the 24 hour battle subsided and the Viet Cong dead numbered 410, snipers continued to harass the company. Throughout the long battle, Sp6c. Joel never lost sight of his mission as a medical aidman and continued to comfort and treat the wounded until his own evacuation was ordered. His meticulous attention to duty saved a large number of lives and his unselfish, daring example under most adverse conditions was an inspiration to all. Sp6c. Joel's profound concern for his fellow soldiers, at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty are in the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of his country. sorry this is long, but I found that very interesting but I'm a big fan on the time period of the Vietnam War, also WWII. You should look that song up even if you don't like country. Thanks :)
Virtual Mental Health Clinic....need help!? For my Medical Assistant course, we are building a virtual clinic. It's harder than it sounds. We are literally building a clinic (and getting loans, land, supples, employees etc) without actually building a clinic. There are different committees. I am on the supply committee. It wouldn't be so daunting, but the clinic is a Children's Mental Health Clinic, for youth 0-18. We have the basic supplies down: paper, soap, first aid kits, envelopes, charts and file folders, color crayons for the kids, all the administrative and janitorial supply, but the finance committee says we need more. We have only reached 1.5 million out of a $10 million quota. Any input would be great, especially from people who have worked in this kind of field. Also, there are equipment and interior committees. I am having trouble defining what is strictly supply and what is equipment and interior. Anyways, any help is appreciated!
What kind of medical supplies does the UN supply to Somalia, Africa? Hi, I've looked on a few sites but can't find the answer I'm looking for. All it says is "the UN gives medical supplies through agencies" but what kind of medical supplies?! Like first aid kits, vaccinations, doctors, antibiotics? I have to do some research for homework so your help would be appreciated
Is there a political philosophy I seem most closely aligned with? Hello everyone, In an effort to find a political group in my home country with whom I share viewpoints, I'm trying to figure out if there is an established political philosophy that seems to align best with my viewpoints. I'm looking for the names of political philosophies here, not parties, as I live in Australia and the names of American parties aren't really of any use to me. Essentially, my political viewpoints are as follows: The government should play an active role in regulating the economy, the medical system and the schooling system while not intervening in social issues. Here in Australia, the government already plays a role in the regulation of the economy and provides universal healthcare of quite a high standard, I would like to see that this is maintained. Ideally, I feel that access to doctors, dentists and appropriate pharmaceuticals should be guaranteed by the government at little if any cost to those in need (before any American Republicans get on the bandwagon about how this isn't viable, we have been doing it in Australia for a long time and currently our economy is relatively good). I believe that schooling should be handled publicly, I don't think private schools should exist, especially not religious schools. Schooling should be 100% equal opportunity with no division between quality for rich or poor. Fortunately in Australia our public system is very good, I'd like to see it kept that way and see government funds redirected from private schools into the public system. Similarly, access to Universities via our HECS and FEE-HELP systems should remain in place, or be rolled back to offer students free tertiary education as it was prior to the introduction of the current system. I would like to see all hospitals be public. As a healthcare worker myself, I know that companies with an interest in the bottom line and keeping shareholders happy, cannot put patients first. Essentially, I would like to see all organisations that provide things I would view as rights (rather than privileges) i.e. healthcare, education, road building, public transport etc. be government operated. I would then be fully supportive of a private sector that produces and sells things that are not necessities i.e. general consumer items like clothes, electronics and the like. Finally, I would like to see a system that encourages people to work. Our welfare system in Australia is somewhat slack, it allows generations of people to essentially live on the dole without working. This is ridiculous. While I fully support making sure that people can keep a roof over their heads, food on their plates, their children in school and maintain their access to first class healthcare, I do not support giving them cash that can be spent on desirable goods, alcohol or drugs. I would like to see a system that provides food, pays rent directly etc. without giving cash to those on the dole, this way they would have an incentive to go and earn it through contributing to society. Lastly, I feel that religion is something that should be left at home. There is no place for it in politics and I feel no need to give them tax exempt status. The only groups deserving of this status are charities with NO ULTERIOR MOTIVES other than to supply aid and support to those in need. What I mean by this is no "oh you need a blanket, how about we read the bible and I'll give you one". As mentioned prior, schools should certainly have no religious syllabus. If parents wish for their children to learn about these things they should do it on their own watch. So, where do I fit? Oh and I forgot, issues like gay marriage should not be up for discussion by the government, that is the choice of the individual and not government territory. For those who think my stance on religion is hypocritical with regard to this, I maintain that religion is a choice, it is just not one the government should ever have to pay for or lose tax for. I'm OK with the government drawing a simple line in the sand about who is or isn't an adult, that is necessary and there is no getting around that. Who an adult associates with, sleeps with or marries on the other hand, is really their own business.
What's this chick's deal? Alright, so the situation is my girlfriend broke up with me last week (she goes to a different school). Word got out at my school, and ever since this one chick has been acting a bit strange. I used to catch her staring at me in class, but now she's staring a lot more frequently. Not only that but her and her friend keep following me and my friends around at lunch, even when we go to the restaurants across the street for lunch. She's walked up to me a few times, like she's going to say something or something, but she ends up just walking away. Everytime I enter a room she's in, she'll look down or leave or something.I know it might sound like it, but I doubt she likes me, especially up against most of the other guys at my school. Hell, I'm 5'10", not fat, (pretty skinny actually, I weigh 145 lbs) but not much muscle on me either. I dress pretty nice, and I guess you could call me smooth with the ladies, but not to much. Most people know me in the school because my bag has more medical supplies then a first aid kit (not to mention a 3500+ page medical guide.) If somebody falls and scrapes their leg I usually get to it before the school hurse does. I know strange languages, not spanish and french like everybody else knows. I know languages like russian and japanese. I'm pretty quiet, and I'm one of those people who hate big parties and stuff. Like, I can't handle too many people. All in all, your average geek. To me I sound like a girls last resort for a date or something, so I doubt this chick likes me, especially since she's one of those girls who wears like, neon clothes, and has really brightly dyed hair all of the time. You know, like the kind of chick you'd see on the cover of a Japanese pop album or something. She's also really quiet. And when I say quiet, I mean she's so quiet I haven't even heard her voice since I've known of her existence, literally. Anyways, what's your opinion on this whole situation? I apologize for the massive length.
