Shoulde there be compulsary first aid training for all learner drivers? Im trying to call for first aid courses to be made compulsory for all learner drivers following a series P-plater and learner drive road fatalities I believe this is essential given new research which has found that only seven percent of Australians feel very confident in administering first aid at serious road accidents where people are injured. On average five people die on Australian roads each day. As with any serious accident the first few minutes are crucial and the key to saving more lives is to ensure more bystanders and witnesses are equipped with the skills to help others. When it comes to car accidents, often the first on the scene will be another driver,” Road crashes are the biggest killer of people aged between 18 and 25 years. “It is scary to think that we can put young adults on the road equipped with the skills to drive but not with the knowledge to know what to do in an accident. Simple things like knowing how to put people in the recovery position and conducting CPR should be common knowledge for all people using our roads,” I will be trying to lobby the government to put forward this case. If i can try to get all young drivers to complete a first aid course as part of their license requirements we will effectively be saving lives,” your thoughts please???
Is giving mouth to mouth on a healthy person a bad idea...? My friend has a boyfriend has first aid skills and she's just taken a first aid course and wanted to see if she could do it, so she tried mouth to mouth resuscitation on him. He said it'd be dangerous but she told him it would only do it the once to see what it was like...? She didn't do the chest compressions as well but I'm worried about her boyfriend because I thought mouth to mouth was a really bad idea on a healthy person. She pinched his nose and everything :S
I'm wanting to be a medic in the Australian Army? I've done alot of first aid courses and used my skills in the community. Do i need a medical degree or anything before i can apply for this position?
Is there a program or place I can learn basic first aid over the summer? To be more specific I was thinking to myself today, "What if something happened when hanging around my friends? While waiting around for help I'd hate to stand around helplessly while they're mortally wounded or such." Another thing, my Grandma isn't in the best condition and she'll occasionally fall and can't get up. I try my best but more often than not I cannot get her back on her feet so she'll spend hours trying to get back up on her bed with me watching helplessly. Is there a place that will teach me basic medical aid techniques or perhaps some course? I figure that's one vital skill I'd like to have. Oh, I forgot to mention I'm 15 years old.
Parents, What do you look for most in a babysitter? Hi. I babysit for about 5 families who all say I am great. But, I want more cutomers. I thought that if I knew what parents liked I could improve my skills to get more families. Here are some of my qualities: mature, responsible, smart, witty, took the child/infant CPR and first aid course and the red cross and took a red cross babysitting course. Plus, I took another course on babysitting and Doctors Hospitable. Not to mention the numerous books I have read about it. Also, I have letters of recomendation. And experience with ages 6months through 9years. Anyway parents, please help me. Plus, I live in Augusta, Ga, USA. and go to private school and go to catholic church! I am 13 but I will be 14 in December!
Calling all first-aiders ...? I just completed my first aid course. (I'm 16). Yey! I was wondering, have you ever had to use your skills as a first aider? When? Why? I'm just interested in what kind of situiations you've had to face.
shouldn't education provide us with some basic skills? all i remember about education was the school made us take a lot of courses we were not interested in (math, english, social studies...) and everything prior to middle school was a lot of drawing shouldn't school make it mandatory for us to take courses like survival skills (like if you're stranded on an island what can you do to survive), and courses like first aid, how to deal with hazradous situations... instead we have to pay for these lessons in colleges where they offer it

developing adult writing skills using e-learning research projects? I am currently doing a Cert Ed programme and looking at how e-learning can or cannot develop adults writing skills. I am looking for other research into this for comparison together with how text messaging and chat rooms have aided the decline in adult writing skills. I am not looking for advanced graduate style writing just basic skills level up to the Adult national certificate in literacy level 1. It is only writing skills that I need to look at as speaking and listening and reading tends to be demonstrated at higher levels than writing skills. I am a skills for life tutor delivering these type of courses using e-learning and I have found that writing seems to be at a far lower level. Can e-learning actually help with developing writing skills or does it just teach basics when and how to use punctuation, grammatical use and spelling techniques but acutally miss the main point of how to write correctly. Any help on this would be gratefully received.
CV Help-preferably from recruiters but anyone welcome? I'm at Uni and have been told you need more than a degree to get a job you want. I'm not sure what I want in life ( studying Law & History)but I know I don't want be a barister/solicitor (or anything Law or History related-just studying them out of interest but I might need Law to start a business one day if all else fails.) I def want a job that will allow me to travel worldwide and with lots of cash (doesn't everyone?)But I thought, whilst I'm deciding what to do,it would be a good idea to use my free time at Uni to do things that would be useful life skills and help my CV stand out from the crowd a bit, so I am currently Learning to drive, doing a First Aid Course, Learning Languages (madarin chinese-I already speak fluent french and conversational spanish), Public Speaking course, and a Teaching English as Second Language (TESL)course. But is there anything else I can do that will help my CV? And what jobs would you suggest thats has lots of travel and decent salary?

For stay at home moms and new moms...? if you took a first aid course, what would be the most important skills you would like to learn? ie. CPR, choking, minor first aid.
What steps can I take to become a nanny? I have the basic childcare skills- younger siblings, cousins, etc. I can easily get a first aid and CPR certification, but many of the ads I see for babysitters and nannies want extensive experience. I understand the parents concern, of course, but I obviously can't get experience without a job. Are there classes or something I can go to that might help my chances? I love kids and think it's something I would be good at.
Is it more important to have coding or transcription? I think my college is ripping me off to begin with. I was told that financial aid only covers the cost of courses for my degree, any extra classes I must pay for. However, at my previous school financial aid covered the cost of classes long as you were a full time student and up to 18 credits (for any classes, degree related or not) With that said, I was wanting to get an AS in both transcription and coding. It was only 3 extra classes but I found out I would have to cover the cost of them my self. Because I'm planning a wedding, 19, and work part-time at old navy I'm a little tight on cash and don't want to pay for the extra 3 classes. (I can always go back later to get the other, but right now I need to choose which path for next semester's classes. Which is the more important skill to obtain a job in a doctor's office? I'm assuming coding would be.

Where can I find grant funding to teach stained Glass for disadvantaged & people exculed from society? I have set up workshop in Norfolk to do my own Studio Glass. However I have plenty of space and would like to start running courses for disadvantage people and people who have been excluded from society. I have seen the amazing effect stained glass can have on this sector of people.Learners do not have to be amazing artists to creatate amazing work. Working with and surrounded by coulor has it's postives, but harness this with learning a practical skill it provides the learners the perfect platform to rebuild confidence, pride, purpose and self worth, all things many people lose when isolated. I am looking for grant aid to help surport the setting up and running of these course. Some specailist equipment may also need to be sourced to make this course available to all ie. Speacilist benches and tools for people in wheel chairs. If anybody has any information that they feel would be helpful please contact me with any details you have. You could be the person to help this happen. Thanks
Can some one help me out with my financial aid appeal letter with grammar errors and puctuation please? Dear Office of Student Financial Aid, My name is Adriana Mayeli Mendoza and I am writing to ask you to appeal my suspension of financial aid. The academic year for 2007-2008 was very overwhelming and stressful because my mother was in the hospital for a few weeks, then doctors decided to take her back to the hospital for more examinations that took months, since the doctors could not figure out my mother’s sickness. I wanted to be in my moms appointments scheduled not only for translation, but my mother has been my right hand since I was born. Without my mother, I would not be where I am today, I wanted to give her my time as well and tell her that everything is going to be fine. I am thankful that my mother is still alive and I want her to live so that she can see me graduate and obtain my degree in Behavioral Science. I will get back in track, I do realize that I neglected my studies and I would like another chance to do better in them, I was not able to focus the past year and I was unable to meet the school standards for the units that are required, which led my grade point average down to a 1.91. I have compiled a list of steps I need to take in order to be successful in school. My goals for the fall quarter are to get involved with school. I will take advantage of Educational Opportunity Program for their tutoring and will be attending it for an hour in every four unit course I am taking. I will meet my department advisor and turn in mid-term progress reports. In addition, since most of my general education courses are done with I will be taking my major classes only and I will spend office hours with my professors discussing how I can improve my grades. Also, I will continue to work on my time management to balance out my family and study time. I will attend my classes and notify my professors ahead of time about what should be done in case of an emergency coming up. Another thing is to keep in touch with professors Phillis Englert and Fernando Parra to discuss internships for the upcoming year. I have determination to finish school and graduate within one to two years. I have gone through three years of college and I don’t want to stop here. I want to go on and change other people’s lives by letting them know the adventourous experience I had in Cal Poly Pomona and continue to teach other students to be successful. If I do not get help from financial aid, I will not be able to attend school and provide the resources and skills I have gained during my four to five years in Cal Poly Pomona. I can not emphasize enough how important this is to me. Please allow me the opportunity to continue receiving financial aid and carry on with my education and go on with my mission to advance within the field of public policy or other relevant public service positions, in order to reach my dream and obtain my degree financial aid is necessary. Sincerely, Adriana M. Mendoza
Can someone help me improve this paper. It's my first draft for my college prep class.? How will you achieve academic and personal success at *******? My first real experience with children was at a young age. When I was just two years old I followed my mom around the house, begging her to let me help take care of my new baby sister. A year later, I did the same thing with my other baby sister. My mom still says how unusual I acted with my baby dolls. Unlike most children, I was less interested in pretending they were my babies, but more interested in teaching them to do whatever I was learning. At age 3 it was coloring in the lines and cutting out circles. And attempting to teach them how to play baseball as my T-ball coaches taught me proved difficult for a six year old. I loved carrying my baby dolls around and telling them how to do things. As the oldest child, I matured faster than most children. I started babysitting in 5th grade for close family friends and cousins. As an 11 year old I enjoyed time with children who would listen to me (my sisters grew tired of listening to me tell them what to do). It was not long after my babysitting career began that my 5th grade class had a career day. Up until that time, I never thought much about growing up, but when my teacher asked me what I liked to do in my free time, she suggested teaching. It was the obvious suggestion of course, half the girls in the class stated they wanted to be teachers as well. Years passed and other girl’s dreams of becoming teachers turned into professional sports players or fashion designers, but my 6th grade career goal remained. When I was 15 years old I acquired my first real summer job. I became a t-ball coach; I worked with children from the ages of four to six. My parents worried I would become overwhelmed and dislike the idea of teaching, but little did they know, I loved it! The difference I noticed in the kids drove me wild! In the beginning of the year some of them could hardly throw a ball, and at the end of the season not only were they playing catch with each other, they were having fun! I helped them to obtain a new skill that they enjoyed, and I saw them grow over the weeks. It was the most sensational feeling, I felt as though I had really accomplished something. A year later I became a camp counselor as well. I spent my entire summer helping kids grow, I planned activities and made sure they were safe. I felt like a real teacher. Now, seventeen and applying to college, I hear the question a lot. “Do you know what you want to go into?” Most of my friends have no idea, but I love to be able to answer, “Yes! I want to go into education; I’m going to become a teacher!” I’ve dedicated my whole life to becoming a teacher, I’m determined. I hope ******* will be able to aid me along the way. I’m not sure what age group I want to get involved with, but I know from experience I can work well with any age group. ETC ETC (I’m terrible with endings) I know I didn’t really talk about the personal success and whatnot, but I wanted to get this down first and then I’ll add those details in. I also want to incorporate the following, do you think I should, or would that be too much? Parents never went to college; I’ll be the first in my family ******* is a beautiful place Many people I know loved it Right school for me

Please i need help reviewing my letter of intent.its my first time writing one.? Im applying to the school of architecture and environmental design (BEDs/M.Arch) at Dalhousie and I need help reviewing my letter of intent. Could any please be so kind to read through and give me their opinions/advice ? its quite lengthy (about 490 words) but the faculty site asked to include pretty much everything. I've never had reason to write a letter of intent before so this is my first. thank you. My name is Osah Russell. I am a 20 year old Nigerian male and currently a student enrolled under the Faculty of Engineering, of the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. I am a broadly minded, creative thinker whose creativity and active imagination have evolved quite interestingly over the years into the deep passion I have for my environment, its contents and how proper environmental principles and structural design conceptualization as well as implementation can aid achieve the balance sought where man and his environment can exist in a feasible, symbiotically stable equilibrium. Consequently, I intend furthering my education at the University of Dalhousie under the School of Environmental Design and Architecture so as to partake in the highly competent learning atmosphere at an Institution that is passionate about architectural education, an Institution that upholds both high national and international reputations as well as standards and presently is the only architecture program in Canada that includes integrated co-op work terms alongside a compact yet comprehensive University schedule. Thus it has become my greatest priority to further my education at such an esteemed School and in due course form part of successful alumni at the University of Dalhousie. As aforementioned, I am presently studying Petroleum Engineering at the undergraduate stage. I just commenced my third year studies at the university level. I do some work as a graphic artist and sometimes work at a young local studio within the City of Port Harcourt. During the past three years of education at the University of Port Harcourt, I have learned skills that range from everyday communication and relations, change and conflict management to social and organizational learning. The team work experience garnered from work and time spent at the studio have also enhanced my ability to understand, appreciate and effect the required organization on my surroundings as well as compose my environment to fit prevailing working conditions.I am also quite versed with design oriented computer applications, primarily, Adobe's Photoshop and Autodesk's 3d's Max. Furthermore, I believe I possess outstanding written and oral communication attributes and have excellent creative, observational, appreciatory, and analytical skills essential to meet the intense demands requisite to pursue and obtain a professional degree in architecture at such a prestigious School. I am most confident I will like and indeed find motivating the subjects offered under the architecture program at The University of Dalhousie. I will also acclimatize to my environment using all apt and necessary means not only to elevate myself as a student but also as a critically thinking, resourceful mind, for the good of my fellow students and colleagues, the University at Dalhousie and my environment as a whole. Thus it is my sole intention to apply for the architecture program (BEDs/March) offered at the University Of Dalhousie under The School of Architecture. I will be most grateful if my application is considered in favourably. Sincerely Yours, Russell Osah.

Please comment on, and help me with my personal statment....? We use our eyes in almost every activity we perform, whether reading, working, watching television, writing a letter, driving a car, and in countless other ways, in my opinion the human eyes the single most fascinating part of the human body without a doubt, vision is extremely complex and requires a lot of determination to be able to understand them to depth, I have this determination. Ever since I was studying for my GCSEs I was very interested in studying optometry, I was fascinated by the sophisticated instruments that were used, and I decided to look into the subject at depth and I came to really understand the high demands and levels of expectation that are required. I became intrigued to study optometry the more I looked into it. I think optometry is perfect for me because I have a strong science background, and I have a true passion for science, in particular biology and physics. The idea of a career that would exploit my humanity and problem-solving abilities always made optometry a natural choice. In addition I enjoy aiding those people who are in need as I participated in a first aid course provided by the local community association, I found the first aid course interesting and I gradually built on my knowledge of the human body. I take great pleasure in people and their diversity, and by combining my love of science with the interpersonal rewards gained from interacting with them, I hope to fulfill this ambition.I truly believe that optometry is the course for me because it allows me to exploit my problem solving skills obtained in my A level mathematics, and use them to diagnose the problems that are associated with vision. It has been a true aspiration of mine to one day complete a degree in optometry, and then open my own private practice to the public, and to use the skills that I will obtain from university and convert theory into practice. During my first five years at college I achieved 5 certificates and 7 trophies, some of which are; commitment award for mathematics, certificate of merit for achievement in mathematics, academic achievement (1st place in class), and a certificate of competence in information technology. I also received a PTA award for enhancement of school spirit, this demonstrates my accomplished character and determination. I also have other interests outside of school besides my work and passion for science, reading and music are important to me, as is sport. Indoor football twice weekly helps build a sense of camaraderie between my friends and I, while tennis, and snooker add a competitive element. These attributes along with a level-headed and unprejudiced outlook on life, I hope makes me an ideal candidate. My stamina, energy and commitment will equip me for a life of learning, but by applying my scientific knowledge and curiosity with compassion and empathy, I hope to become a valuable member of a profession to which I truly aspire. If you have read this far, thank you i really appreciate it. Is there any mistakes or any way that you think i can improve it?

How to finance a career change to Graphic Design? Dear readers, I am thinking of making a career change to Graphic Design. I currently work unhappily as an Office Manager and have been out of undergrad for nearly 2 years. I am not that skilled in using Graphics software- at least not to a level that I think the profession requires. I want to seek a more formal education but it will cost me an arm and a leg and find that I am not offered financial aid by most institutions because I already hold a Bachelor's degree. However, I find it difficult to pay out my own pocket for the courses as I can hardly save money every month. Please offer me your suggestions as to how I can finance this education or more economically learn the software/knowledge. (Someone suggested purchasing tutorial books, but I would also like to get classroom instruction to supplement.) Thank you for your comments. And for fun, please write what city/state/country you are located. I am in New York, New York, USA.
Can someone please edit my letter/proof my financial aid letter...thanks!!!!? To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter to appeal my spring 2007 semester grades. I would like to begin by apologizing for the lack of attention to my courses. One of the strongest contributions to the drop in my grades was the change of school environment. This was my first semester at the University of Houston and I was completely overwhelmed with everything from the school itself to my study techniques. I have attended several community colleges where the classes are much smaller than most of the classes I had here which allows students like me to not only bond with other students but professors as well. This bond opens up a communication that allows an ease to ask someone for assistance, I have yet to fully grasp this bond with either. The course content is another factor, although I have taken similar courses I have been in the Fashion Department for the past 2-3 years at the central HCC campus where our classes and assignments consisted of making things rather than sitting in a class looking at projectors and boards with notes. I was use to creating things that didn’t require a lot of time studying or reading because it was all hands on so my study skills were rather weak and I often miscalculated how much time was required to study and prepare for each class. Time was an issue because I am a single mother which therefore requires double parenting time as work time. My daughter is only four years old so she has yet to understand that I need to study and require some quiet time to focus and concentrate. The fact that she only goes every other Saturday from noon to noon on Sunday does not allow much time to study for all my classes and at the time I was also working full time while attending school full time. Now that I have familiarized myself a bit more with the university I have and will continue to improve my grades. Currently I am enrolled in three summer courses in addition to one other which I ended with a B average. Although the classes are more overwhelming in the summer I feel that this is also allowing me to improve on my study skills for the fall semester. Along with improved studying skills I will also be working part time which will allow me to focus more on school. My daughter will also be attending pre-k and enrolling in other after school extra curricular activities that will allow me more time for studying. With all sincerity I ask that I am given another opportunity and not denied any financial assistance. With out this enormous blessing I am unable to attend school. To receive my degree is extremely important to me not just because it would help me obtain a decent career to provide my daughter a better future, but it would show her what an important accomplishment this truly is. Sincerely,
Please help! Is this a good Personal Statement? Really stuck! Let me know if anything needs changing, is it ok? Thanks There are a multitude of reasons as to why I chose this degree to be the next stepping-stone in my educational life. The first of which is that although clichéd, it has been my ambition since I was younger. There were various points in my life that pointed me towards marketing and I think that the first of these was when I contributed to the Young Enterprise Scheme. The team decided to sell a selection of fair trade goods within the school and it was my job to help with advertising and market research. I found this experience to be both fulfilling and insightful because it allowed me to see how the things around us influence our behaviour or at that time the behaviour of my fellow students. Another experience that further amplified my interest in the marketing side of business was my A-level coursework. In this coursework I had to design a soft drinks business although I had to focus strongly on the marketing mix. I had to carry out a number of pieces of primary and secondary research, this included constructing a questionnaire for my target market to complete and then analysing the information gleaned from it to better my marketing mix. Another aspect of the coursework was that I had to design and execute a presentation on my product, this had to last approximately twenty minutes and I found it thoroughly enjoyable as well as giving me a larger insight into the marketing department of a business. Although Business Studies is one of the leading contributors in my choice to pursue marketing I believe that my other AS subjects handed me skills that would be useful in a marketing role. Firstly I recognise that in order to write a business report for example, a person must be able to write clearly, concisely and competently and I have construed that studying English Language has given me this ability. It is clear to me that to be able to market to any target market a person needs to understand not only individuals but also humanity as a whole. Sociology sheds light on the human condition allowing a person to measure and interpret national changes in the behaviours, attitudes and beliefs of the populace in a country, which is I think is a vital tool in any marketer’s belt. In 2006 I enjoyed working as an office assistant in a small business located within the Albert Dock. The company was called Beverages Direct who work in close association with Nestle supplying coffee machines, juicing machines as well as ingredients to many customers all over the UK. As an office assistant I had various duties including franking important documents, using data accounts such as Sage as well as collecting information for invoices. An advantage of the business being small was that I was able to see each department working cohesively to achieve the business objectives. However I believe that the extra curricular activities in a person's life are also important and this is why up until 2006 I was a member of Bebington Scouts, whilst a part of this institution I took part in a number of activities that I am still today rather proud of. The first of these is the Cheshire Hike; this is a large event that consists of a 25-mile hike spanned over two days. I walked with two other scouts over the two days and this meant that teamwork was essential. During my time in the scouts I completed a basic First Aid course and have retrained more recently within my college. I have a great enthusiasm for First Aid because I thrive under pressure and the act of helping somebody else fills me with a great sense of achievement. I also love to read and have read a variety of books relating to marketing and business as a whole; however the one that I found most interesting was "The Philosophy of Branding" by Thom Braun. It was an insightful read because it offered a new and innovative way of thinking to modern day marketing whilst relating back to the great western philosophers including Socrates, Plato and even Heraclitus.
Desert Survival Skills? You are on a holiday to Las Vegas. After arriving at Los Angeles International Airport, you boarded a small, 20-seater airplane for the short 2-hour flight to Las Vegas. It is about 10am in the middle of summer and you 20-seater airplane has just crash landed in the Sonora desert in the southwestern United States. The pilot did not survive the crash when the plane crash landed and burned. However, you and your entire tour group from Singapore survived the crasn and except for some minor bruises, everyone is safe. Your tour leader recalled that the pilot could not contact anyone on the radio just before the crash. However, the pilot did mention that you were about 150km south-southwest from an old mining camp, which is the nearest place you might seek for help. You heard the pilot said that your plane was approximately 120km off the course that was filed in your VFR (visual flight rules) Flight Plan. The area around the crash site is quite flat and, except for a few cactus plants, does not have any other trees or greenery. The last weather report you heard on the plane's radio said that the temperature would be around 40 degrees Celsius. This, the pilot said, would mean that the temperature on the ground would be about 45 degrees Celsius. You all are wearing light summer clothing with sandals or sneakers. Everyone has a handkerchief. All together, your group has US$75 in bills, US$5.80 in coins, a packet of cigarettes and a ballpoint pen. Before the plane caught fire after crashing, your group was able to save the following 14 items: Flashlight (4-battery type) Sectional air map of the area Plastic raincoat (large) Magnetic compass First aid kit with bandages 9mm pistol with 15 rounds Parachute (red & white) 1000 salt tablets 1 litre of water each Book titled "Edible Animals of the Desert" A pair of sunglasses each 2 litres of Vodka 100% proof 1 overcoat each A small mirror Rank the above 14 items according to what you think is their importance for your survival. Start with number 1 for the "Most Important" item and end with number 14 for the "Least Important" item.
Please help me with NURSES AID certification question? I took the CNA course/clinical at a hospital nursing school 6 years ago and earned my diploma. It was a pre-req for the RN program, which I began but I had to put it on hold to raise my family. 2 kids later...I worked part time at a mental health facility tutoring patients. I never actually took the certification for my CNA after I got my diploma. In the state of NJ, can I be eligible to take the CNA board exam for certification without repeating the class even though it has been 6 years? I can't find any information where it gives a time limit for this, there is only info for time limits after you are CNA certified. My cousin is a dr and I can brush up my clinical skills with him if this is a possibility that I can just take the exam... I really believe I can pass the exam. I also can't find any CNA courses around me (the hospital nursing school only offers it for pre-RN students) One day I do want to become an RN still, but this is just a first step after being a stay-at-home Mom for so long! Thank you for any help or do you know what number I can call to get this info? Thank you.
What do you think? Can volunteer directly or English classes? One of my friends' mom wants to be a volunteer at christiana hospital, Delaware. My friend told me that her mom has a nurse aid program's certificate but I think she can't communicate, in another word she needs more English skill. In my opinion, she should take English courses before doing anything. What do you think and are there any another field that she can volunteer without having enough English skill?
so what do you think of my college essay? 1. How have you taken advantage of the educational opportunities you have had to prepare for college? Over the course of my years in high school my main goal has been to excel in my academics, to get involved in activities that would aid me in understanding my classes, and to take advantage of the electives offered at my school to help my determine future career plans. To reach my full potential in my classes and tests, I took part in tutoring classes over the weekend to improve my math scores, which I must admit, is one of my weaker subjects. The extra tutelage, however, has helped me immensely in developing my skills in mathematics, which is now reflected in my test scores. This year, my government class gave me the opportunity to work at the polls in the gubernatorial elections. I gladly took the chance, and by the end of the day, left with a greater understanding of how our state government operates. The opportunity that I have gotten the most out of has been my choice of electives - namely psychology and anatomy. Through them, I have realized that my main interests lies in people and the sciences, subjects that I would definitely pursue in the future. here's the thing, i actually CAN write pretty well, but it doesn't show in my essay because i don't have very much to talk about regarding the question.. i'm stuck in a rut =\ any critiques/suggested revisions would be very helpful... thank you in advance!
important question, wtf is wrong with schools today? they go crazy to have kids go to school but where is the life skills courses they should be teaching? when i got out of high school i knew literature, music, needle point, history and mythology. which did jack when it came time to fill out my first job application, not to mention tax time the next year, banking and checkbook management. why can't schools teach useful skills like tax prep, cash register operation, basic first aid, drivers ed (remember that? i just learned they took it out), job search and application prep basic computer repair (not build from the ground up, just replace a hard drive or do a clean os install)? why is it that the highest form of life on the planet doesn't put as much effort into it's young as a duck? most animals teach basic survival skills, why not humans? I know it, MARS. i was lucky enough to have a social studies teacher who was an old school rebel and believed school was about more than daycare for teens. still there were kids in some of my classes/grades who could barely read and write, and i mean high school here. Hey tarry, I don't blame all teachers, only the bad ones. first, I have had teachers who every day came into the room, told everyone to read a few chapters from their text book and quickly got lost in reading the news paper, a novel or left the class for the next twenty minutes. last year at my little sisters high school there where gangs fighting in the halls, ambushing each other and threatening anyone caught alone. one young man was beaten half to death, going to the hospital with a broken jaw, three broken ribs and a punctured lung. the school didn't notify any parents about anything and as soon as parents heard from their kids and called the principle they were told that there was nothing going on at the school, just a little fight between two students. nothing was mentioned about the other students who were punched in the head during an assemble where they had to walk between the the standing classes, or the girl who was chased thru the building and barely made it to a class room I'm not saying school should teach everything to kids, however if they have time to teach needle point (7th gr' art), poetry and football, they could teach some basic real world skills. some parents don't know enuff on some subjects to teach it to their kids. some don't have the time because they are working 2 jobs just to make ends meet and many kids are in single parent homes where their just isn't time to teach everything a young person needs to learn, and a lot of time is wasted every day on needlessly traveling across town to go to school. for example half my sister's home room class lives in the same neighborhood as we do and every day they have to cross the entire city to go to a school that is 7.3 miles away by mapquest. while 4 blocks away is the high school i went to, when we lived 4 miles away from it. she has to leave for school over an hour before school starts and this year they announced there would be no more school buses for seniors, so it's public transportation time Alli Kat, that's it exactly. America needs a revolution. we need to take the fat cat bureaucrats and dump THEM in Boston harbor. our forefathers gave us the right to bare arms so we could defend our selves from all enemies, foreign and domestic. unfortunately our biggest enemy has WAY bigger guns... and tanks... and nuclear weapons. frankly i do not even believe in the voting process any more. sure we all line up and state our preferences then the people who count the votes decide who wins. can you say Bush whacked. just because they say it's a fair vote doesn't make it so.
I'm turning 16 in January, and I'm required by my school to submit a 'serious' job application. Help? So: a nearby medical clinic is looking for a junior secretary to work once a fortnight and public holidays, and I would like to apply for this position. Experience in the field is, obviously, not required. Could someone please help me write a cover letter? A couple of points that I would like to make: 1) I am serious about working in this field. Admin. is an integral part of the medical system; though indirectly, I would be helping people. In fact, starting July '09, I will be a student in Introduction to Medical Administration at Holmesglen TAFE (taking a night class at technical college). If offered a job at this clinic, I would be granted recognition of prior learning. 2) I study -successfully- by distance education, so I'm comfortable working independently and I have excellent time-management skills. Also, my schedule is very flexible, so I can cover for other people. 3) As my volunteering suggests, I am polite, conscientious, and socialise well with people of all ages. I can touch-type and I am familiar with Microsoft Office '03 and '07 and Apple iWork '08. Can you think of anymore points I should make? Neatly attired? Lovely phone manner? And, finally, my resume summarised: I worked for four months as a retail assistant at an up-market grocery store; I volunteer as a community visitor; I have completed an Occupational Health and Safety program developed by the State government for the purposes of work experience; I will be undertaking a course in First Aid later this month; and I have an *excellent* reference, which you may read. http://i34.tinypic.com/2v8kh78.jpg That's all, I think. Please, please, help! I have no idea where to start.
Anyone need a babysitter? I'm proud to announce my daughter just finished an American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course! she's 11 & I'm proud. I think it's a big deal. It's good to have those skills including 1st aid. What do you think?
Do any of these SHORT paragraphs NOT make sense? :)? "I feel an affinity for scientific, deductive subjects because I enjoy the intellectual workout of solving problems, whether they are mathematical equations, chemical experiments or group project work in physics. My keen interest in these subjects should translate into hard work, an inquisitive approach and ultimately, good examination results. Being an engineer has always been my career aspiration as it brings together many aspects which I admire. This includes using creative flair to solve problems, mathematical reasoning and working with people. Hopefully, my chosen courses will aid me significantly in the success I wish to hold in the future as an engineer. I have many interests and activities outside of the curriculum. This includes regularly playing table tennis and football with friends in my local leisure centre. I also have an interest in magic tricks and illusions. I once performed in my schools talent show and found the experience great fun. I have taken part in 2 work experience programs. One was compulsory and involved working in Boots. From this, I gained transferrable communication skills as I had to advise customers on products suitable for their needs. My second work placement was in Deutsche Bank. I wanted to gain an insight into the high-pressure world of such an eminent bank. Although my role was largely clerical, I came out with a sound understanding of how an efficient financial organisation works. " thanks
Extra courses I can do to make my application for Flight Attendant job stand out? I have my RSA and Senior First Aid certificates. The minimum requirements to be considered for a flight attendant position are to have both of those certificates and a valid passport. My problem is, airlines get hundreds, probably thousands of applications a day. I need something on my application that makes me stand out from all the other girls out there. What kind of short courses can I do to improve my skills for this job? I was thinking maybe Food Handling or a Barista course...I looked up Customer Service courses in the TAFE NSW website, but they aren't offering that course at the moment. I've researched for Flight Attendant courses and they all seem pretty dodgy. I've heard they're not very useful & are a waste of money so I'm not interested in those. What else can I do at TAFE to make me stand out & improve my skills? I live in the Western Suburbs of NSW.
cpr certification for ems? My cpr card is long expired, (I obviously haven't been practicing as an EMT for awhile) The course I initially took was, I swear, about 3 hours long. I think we just learned the basics without the aed.Now the choices I'm faced with include adult cpr/first aid, adult cpr w/defib. skills, adult/child/infant cpr, etc... which one do I take? My EMT cert. luckily isn't expired, but I'm in another state+don't know if they're just going to make me take the whole shebang over again. How do I find out if I'm on the national registry?

Which philosophy course is best for a law student? I have to take one of four philosophy courses as part of my criminology degree, which I plan to use to go to graduate school and study law. I do not have a specific area of law in mind yet. Which course sounds the most useful for a law student? Please tell me why you think so and if you've studied law. Thanks. Course 1- Introduction to Philosophy Students will study central topics in the major areas of philosophy. They will examine a variety of philosophical perspectives on issues such as mind-body problem, the nature of reality, the limits of human knowledge, morality and moral judgement, and the justification of religious beliefs. Course 2- Confronting Moral Issues: Introduction to Ethics Students will consider the meaning and justification of moral judgments by examining various views on whether or not morality has an objective basis. They will be introduced to leading theories of ethical conduct and will learn to apply these theories to contemporary moral problems and workaday situations. Course 3- Critical Thinking Students will study the process of argument reconstruction and evaluation. They will focus on skills necessary that will enable them to distinguish argumentative from non-argumentative writing, rationally persuasive from rhetorically persuasive arguments, and strong from weak arguments. Students will be expected to analyze arguments from a variety of contexts such as newspaper editorials, advertising and surveys. Course 4 -Introduction to Formal Logic Students will study the basic techniques of formal deductive logic. They will learn the semantics and syntax of two artificial languages—sentential logic ( SL ) and predicate logic ( PL )—with emphasis given to the former. With the aid of the formal techniques learned in this course, students will gain insight into the nature of rational argument and sound reasoning.
Financial Aid appeal for Completion Rate....? here is my letter to the fin aid appeals committe... can anyone give me any pointers on how to get my appeal granted? I was suspended for GPA and completion rate, but I have now raised my GPA. My completion rate is currently still below the 70% required by my school. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs and Appeals Committee: I am writing to request reinstatement of my financial aid for the Summer 2009 semester. I was recently readmitted to (school) during the spring 2009 semester following academic suspension. During the months leading up to my suspension, I was a full-time student and also working full-time to support myself and put myself through college. I was unaware of the consequences of attempting both school work and a full time job, and therefore my academics suffered greatly. I was academically suspended in the spring of 2008. During the semesters that I struggled academically, I often would register for courses and withdraw from many or all of the courses before the end of the term. I felt that withdrawing from the courses would benefit me more instead of receiving a failing grade. At the time, I lacked the time management and study skills that I needed in order to keep up with the demands of both school work and a career. Due to lack of adequate achievement in my courses during these troubling semesters, my satisfactory completion rate has been greatly affected and currently falls below the standards set forth by (school's) Financial Aid Policy. Upon my re-entry to (school) in the spring of 2009, my cumulative grade point average totaled 1.67 and my completion rate totaled 62%. During my first semester back at (school) after my suspension, I successfully completed 12 hours of coursework and was able to sufficiently raise my cumulative grade point average to a total of 2.43, with my spring 2009 semester grade point average totaling a 2.67. I am now in good academic standing with the university. Throughout the spring semester, I routinely met with CindyB(advisor) in the Student Success Center to adapt better time management skills as well as productive study habits. After completion of the spring 2009 semester, I have successfully raised my completion rate 4 percentage points from 62% to 66%, however, I am still below the 70% completion rate. Throughout my previous academic struggles, I have learned that effective time management in college, along with a job, is a matter of disciplining yourself to stick to your goals in order to make them all possible. It is my goal to graduate next spring, in the May of 2010, with my degree in Elementary Education. In order for me to stay on track with my academics and to graduate on time, I must complete the remainder of my coursework without withdrawing from or failing any of these courses over my last three semesters at (school). During this summer term, I am currently enrolled in 13 credit hours, and have successfully completed two courses during the four week intersession. I have been able to cut back on my work hours so that I may have more time to study, and therefore properly complete my courses in order to raise my completion rate. I have attached documentation from my professors of my academic progress during the four week intersession, as official grades for the summer semester will not be posted until August. I ask that you please consider my appeal for reinstatement of my summer financial aid. I appreciation your cooperation in this matter, and look forward to receiving a response from the committee. Any suggestions? Is it too long? To wordy? Thanks in advance!!!

can someone please proofread this for me? Sport and recreation career assignment Athletic trainers assess sports injuries, providing appropriate treatment, and educating athletes on injury-prevention programs as well as healthy lifestyles. Trainers help with rehabilitation after an injury. An athletic trainer works with school sports teams, professional sports, or in sports medicine clinics or health clubs. Trainers work in collaboration with physicians and coaches, insuring that treatment plans are followed and athletes are not returned to the game prematurely. Trainers can work full-time year round or on a seasonal basis which varies with each sport. Students should study biology, chemistry, and physics as well as basic first-aid. Some coaching or experience as a team captain is preferable. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are available in athletic training. An authorized program includes courses such as human anatomy and physiology, psychology, nutrition, and physical education plus extensive field experience. Athletic trainers also need good social and communication skills because they are constantly working with people. Athletic Trainer salaries vary depending on the location and the setting. The average salary is $18.44 per hour, which totals up to about $38,360 per year, comparing to a personal trainer, fitness trainer or aerobic instructor they make a good amount of money. Of coarse though, like every job the salary usually starts smaller and when the amount of hours and experience is increased so does the salary range. Along with this job there are many advantages and disadvantages. Being a personal trainer has its benefits, like you get a free membership to any gym you work at, and meet great people. Teaching a class is also a good workout for yourself. Some cons are it is extremely tiring, physically demanding and is lots of competition out there. You have lots of laundry all the time (being sweaty does that). There are a number of ways for athletic trainers to advance or move into related positions. Some assistant athletic trainers could become head athletic trainers and, eventually become athletic directors. Some athletic trainers may even move into sales and marketing positions, in this field they are able to use their athletic trainer expertise to sell medical and athletic equipment. The appropriateness of this field for myself is not a type of field I would be looking into for when considering what to do with my life. Being an athletic trainer would be a lot of work and would mean I would need to be extremely well fit. I am fit but teaching other people how to be fit and helping them out, is something that I simply not interested in pursuing. I would also need a lot of schooling because you need to know about muscles and first aid. thanks
Letter for financial aid, What would you add to it? I'm Jacquelyn. I'm turning fifteen this Feburary fourth and attend the 9th grade at ............. My life is dedicated to my Family, and Friends. I think family is very important in my life. Not only is it my immediate family, but the people who I meet along the way. Being dedicated to my friends, and family is really like serving others. Not only do I just serve my family but also the community. My service towards others is good, I help with the old, with the church, with my grandparents, help run school dances, and volunteer at blood drives. I have many goals in life, biggest one is getting the proper college education I need to succeed in today's world. I was looking into the Julian Kinsky camp for the past few years, and always wanted to attend it. Unfortunately, it's expensive and I have been waiting every year until my mother gave me the green light. This year I'm determined to attend this camp, so I did my research and found out that if I write a letter I could possibly get financial aid. This summer program is not just a summer program its more then that. Its a stepping stone, and a push. Julian Kinskys camp can give me the skills I need to be successful. Not only does everything about this Summer Program seem superb, but the courses they offer are like no other camps, and are perfect for me. One of my dreams, and goals are to attend this camp. Please make this a possibility for me, and I'll work my hardest so you won't regret it. I would like to thank you in advance for considering me, and taking the time to read my letter. Sincerly, ..... Should I add anything? Take anything out? Any advice? I really want to attend this summer camp. Thank you for your help.
What is financial aid about? Seems that I have to go back to the school to have a degree within the US, since my foreign degree that i did in mexico has to "meet" US educational standards, all ready i have some experience in back in mexico Xerox was my client (used to work for www.flextronics.com) I'll be attending upwarldy global sesions soon (http://www.upwardlyglobal.org), tried to do GMAT but failed since Washington state university said that my degree was valid to get a masters there, all these circus in order to get back within my professional field. Hard to get a job (plus the economy) since many american employers are unfamiliar wheter my degree or previus employers, and all I been doing is working for chipotle since i emigated lawfullt with a low wage - low skill job. Also been thinking in volunteering in order to show a potential employer that I have the knowledge and a high skill that really really worths to pay PS the target is get back on the things i like to do... Imports/Exports/Logistics. Also had some postgraduate work in china, of course i can speak some mandarin.. Well the main question is financial aid is a loan or just free money (since im not eligible for any guvernamental aid will affect financially to my susponsor), I really too apreciate some advise in carreer counseling...
can u really take a CPR/AED First Aid class in 4 1/2 hours? I was looking through this website http://cpr-etc.net/CPR-courses-all.shtml/CPR-courses-all.shtml#lifeadvanced and it says that the First Aid Combo takes 4 1/2 hours. I was wondering if this is really true. Can you learn all of these skills in 4 1/2 hours??? I want to become a lifeguard, but I don't have the money to pay for a Lifeguard Course yet, but I want to take a CPR/First aid AED class in the meanwhile. Where can I take such course...I want to learn these skills really well, so I want a reliable place. I live in Miramar, Florida. How much do this course usually cost? thanks :)
Do Cna's need to be CPR and first aid certified? Im thinking about taking a course and i see they dont offer to teach those skills with the class.
Please review my financial aid appeal? Dear Office of Student Financial Aid, My name is ________ and I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my financial aid suspension appeal. First and foremost continuing my education is a high priority for me and I’m sure after reading this you will see that the conditions that allowed me to reach the 150% maximum credit rule were really not by my choice. Between the years of 2003-2007 I served in the United States Air Force and worked as an Aerospace Maintenance Technician. Upon reviewing my transcript I realized that the Community College of the Air Force shows that I attempted 55 credit hours. Every one of those 55 hours were not taken voluntarily but were instead required for my job in the military. All of these courses were necessary to ensure that the Air Force was always deployment ready and that each of us serving in the military were highly skilled technicians. If my required military training were not included in this rule then I would fall well below the 150% maximum credit rule. Between the years of 1998-2000 I attended the University of _________ and my grades were very poor. I have a few D’s, F’s and W’s and I realize that I have to live with those grades and take full responsibility for them. I stopped attending U of _ and had a cumulative GPA of 1.88 and since then I have worked hard to increase that GPA as much as possible. I started attending ____ after leaving the military in 2007 and earned 36 credits there with a GPA of 3.87. I then transferred to ___ and hold a GPA of 3.25 after 3 semesters here. My academic performance has drastically improved since I first attended school 10 years ago and I’m proud to say that I have pulled up to a cumulative 2.86 GPA but I still have more to prove as my final goal for graduation is to have a 3.0. Thank you for your consideration on my appeal and if any other information is necessary please don’t hesitate to contact me. I have omitted personal details from the essay but please tell me if anything should be changed and what my chances for approval would be
I want to be a lifeguard, can someone make these pre-requisites clearer? So I want to be a lifeguard for a local indoor water park soon when I turn 15. I think it would be great for a first job, teach me responsibility and skills to use for life (i want to be a doctor too-first aid?) Of course to have some extra spending money. This is the pre-requisites for the class. Can you help me clarify them a bit? * Must be 15 years old (okay i get this one haha. i turn 15 in november.) * Must be able to swim 200 yards continuously using freestyle and breaststroke (how many laps is 200 yards in the pool? and do you have to do flipturns and stuff like that? haha) * Feet first surface dive to a minimum depth of 8 feet and bring a 10lb diving brick to the wall (this is the one that I am most confused on. what does it mean?) * Tread water for one minute with hands on the surface of the water (does that mean you can't move your arms? or can you move them but you have to keep them on top? Any tips, I usually tread with my arms kinda underneath the water...?) As you can see, I don't really know much about being a lifeguard. But I am determined, and really want to learn. Any info about what you do in the class is great too. Thanks for all your help :)
Can you use higher qualification first aid skills for a lower qualified job? I work as a contract occupational first aid attendant (took a one day course) and after working two contracts, I went to go become certified as an Emergency Medical Responder (entry level paramedic). The thing is, I cannot become licensed because it's been over a year since I got my certification and I'm wondering, when I go back to contract first aid, would it be okay to use the EMR skills that I learned for a first aid attendant job in which I was only hired for? Example: I did not learn how to use a hard-collar for the neck during my one-day first aid course, but in the EMR course I did; If I have to manage a spinal injury at work, am I allowed to use the hard-collar?
comment and rate my Personal Statement PLz? Hi, could someone comment and rate my personal statement please. It's a bit long so if you think a point is not necessary. Thanks Attending an education science trip in year 9 turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. We were split into three large groups and we had to be able to cooperate with our team members and make outstanding decisions. Being a very competitive person I put in hundred percent in everything that I do in order to achieve my goal. Taking part in this allowed me to gain more communication skills, team working skills and problem solving. Through this experience, I was able to achieve an A grade for my science GCSE. My interest in science increased further, particularly in physics. With theses interests combined with my interest in travelling, I started to think of a career as a pilot. In order to achieve my goal, I have decided to study a pilot training course or improve my knowledge in Mathematics and Physics at university. I chose my subjects because I enjoy them and also I believe that they will equip me with the necessary skills needed for my chosen course for university. These skills include being able to interpret data and the ability to solve problems. These subjects are similarly linked together and provide me with different challenges encouraging me to work harder. I relish the challenge of a complicated problem either in computing, physics or mathematics. Undertaking one week work experience at Eaton Green Motor Co. as a Mechanic’s Assistance gave me an insight on how working full time will be like. During this week, I gained good communication skills, listing skills and being able to work as part of a team. It gave me a little insight into the work of a pilot as a pilot needs to be able to communicate well with the passengers to reassure them of a safe and enjoyable flight. Also, they need good communication with Air traffic Control in order for a good take-off and a good landing. Having the ability to work as part of a team will ensure a good relationship amongst the co-pilot and the flight attendances. This was an interesting placement and I enjoyed every aspect of it. Being a paperboy at the age of 15 opened new challenges to me. These included having to manage time if I was to finish my news paper deliveries in time for school every morning. Up till now, I have been consistence in punctuality in everything I do. Being able to work independently is one of the skills I gained from this experience. I recently developed interest in Anime and the Japanese culture. Knowing that Japan have the 2nd largest economy in the world, I decided to pick up a few words in Japanese in addition to my three existing Languages which are: Twi (my first language), English and a little bit of French. Noticing an opportunity in this, I joined the Anime club enrichment at college and I have being receiving Japanese lessons each week expanding my vocabulary. In addition, we watch subtitled Anime which has helped improve my understanding of some Japanese keyword and also improve my listening skills. I am still currently completing my training to join St John Ambulance brigade members. I have gained new first aid skills as well as learning skills including team working, problem solving and social & medical ethics. At high school, I was appointed as a prefect. I was honoured to have been recognised and felt it was my role and responsibility to set an example to the younger students. In addition, I was awarded several awards including an African Caribbean most improved student award. Also, I received a most improved student and disciple student award from my school. This was as a result of the hard work and commitment I showed during my time at high school. Something I will apply to my university career. My research into the life of a pilot has shown me that I have all the skills and qualities required in becoming a pilot. An opportunity to broaden my knowledge along with my motivation, dedication and skills I have learnt will help make my dream a reality.
Where can I find an good online math program for free? I am a high school senior who has struggled with math since the beginning. My school does not offer any math programs for my year besides AP math course which I chose not to take. I would like to take a math course to stay on top for college and aid me in gaining more knowledge. If any of you have ideas of a nice free online program that can help me rebuild and keep building my math skills, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Teachers aid, teacher or finance career? I have just had my baby and before hand i was temping with a backround in business/administration. i'm considering my job options for when i go back to work next year. I'd really love to be a teacher but now that i am a mother i would have to consider the time and cost to do the course which i'd probably be lacking both the time and finances. So i was considering doing a course (quicker & cheaper) to be a teachers aide/education aide. What is this job like? is it as rewarding as a teacher? what is the pay like and do you get paid during school holidays? My other option is to do a short course that incoporates accounting into my existing business/admin skills and then apply for more admin jobs with finance in it hopefully giving me more joices career and money wise. Should i try out the teachers aid and work in an area that i think i'll enjoy that may lead to teaching later on? or should i be practical and stick to something i in my current job field that possibly pays more money? Any information on these careers would be appreciated - thanks.

An idealy good first job.? QUESTION; AN IDEAL FIRST JOB FOR A YOUNG PERSON. Hey. I'm going to cut right to the problem here..I want a job. I have been babysitting for many years and have volunteered everywhere from a lifeguard-aid for swim lessons to carwashes. However, here is the catch; I'm under 16. Normally this would be illgeal, atleast in my state, but I have a worker's permitt given to me by my school and city. It allows anyone from the ages 14-16 to be legally employed. Here's some things about me.. 1. I'm a 4.0 student including some honors courses, as well as I take Chinese. --- I know that you don't need tip-top academic skills for an easy job, but I hope that my challenging classes and grades will tell them indirectly about my character, as well as my work ethic. 2. I really want a job, and am a hard worker. --- I'm not saying this to sound desperate. I really want a job. I would like to show responisbility, and be semi-independent. I dance two times a week so it wouldn't be an everyday thing, as well as the worker's permitt holds some limitations when it comes to working hours. But I am a hard worker, and really would try to exell at my job..evennn if it's cleaning bathrooms. So basically I want to know what would be a good first job. I have no idea where to begin..a fast food place like McDonalds [despite the fact it's gross and fattening] or a place like an Ace Hardware or small hardware store? Please give me ideas. I DO know that it might be hard to get employed because of my age, so do you know where I'd have the best chances? Thannnksss ;D
If I do a first-aid course will it look good on my personal statement to universities? I will be going into pyschology... and i have 2 more years before i finish school and head off to uni. I havnt done much extra curriculum activities AT ALL ... so i am worried about that. Will this first aid course be a good idea? Is it even relevant to what skills they will want to see in my psychology course? Answers from people who know what they are talking about please! (I don´t want to pay for nothing/waste my time)
Do you think all education major students should be required to take a CPR and First Aid courses in order to g? graduate? Personally I think they should. A teacher is dealing with other lives and can be held responsible for a child's death. CPR and First Aid are good skills to have anyway no matter what your major but particularly if you work in a field like doctoring or teaching. I plan on taking a CPR class and I'm going to be an English major.
Developing good logic skills for the LSAT? I am thinking of taking this class called "Valid Reasoning I", in preparation for the LSAT, Valid Reasoning 1, is an introductive logic/reasoning course. I will use it as an aid in helping me study for the LSAT. Is it necessary to take Valid Reasoning 2, or should I stick with just the first one. I am also taking alot of upper division classes, to improve my writing. Also doing an independent research project on politics. Valid Reasoning 1:An introduction to formal techniques for determining the validity of deductive arguments. These techniques are adequate for dealing with complex arguments involving multiple quantification. Valid Reasoning 2:Some arguments in natural language have structural properties beyond those studied in Valid Reasoning I. Here, we investigate those structures and modify the techniques learned in Valid Reasoning I. We also present certain derivational techniques for showing step-by-step how the conclusions of valid arguments are drawn from their premises. Should I take Valid Reasoning 2, or just stick with 1?????
What can I do to gain childcare experience? I'm a 18 y.o female, with little to no childcare experience... I'd really love to get some, so that I am hire-able as a babysitter and even au pair in the future. I don't have younger siblings or a small neighborhood with younger children, and thus have never really had much opportunity. I think that I am mature, responsible yet also creative and friendly - able to make sure kids stay safe yet also have fun! I have a few employers/personal references which could be used towards my work ethic/character. I have minimum childcare experience, of helping with my church's nursery from time to time.. but not enough to really even claim experience. Do you think that if I advertised myself as a 18 y.o mature female teen, I would be able to get some local contacts? I just don't know how to throw across the fact that I have little experience but am more than willing to gain/learn.... I would be fine as even being a mother's helper for a period of time, until they feel comfortable using me as a sitter. I feel like I could explain this to a potential mother, but how would I advertise it in a flyer/ad/resume? What else could I do to gain skills? Also I plan to take a CPR/AED First Aid course for adults/children/babies - because I anyway would like to learn!
for stay at home moms and new moms....? if you took a first aid course, what would be the most important skill you would like to learn? ie. CPR, choking, first aid.

old recc. letters for interview today? the only work experince in the past that I have is lifeguarding. I have 2 recc. letters (below) to get a new lifeguarding job-they were written 2 years ago. i have a job interview today at a casino to be a busser person for their buffet. can i still use these recc. letters even though they are old? To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to you to you regarding the hire of Landon. I met Landon when he came on staff of the Georgetown Apartment Pools in July of this year. Since that time, I have been greatly impressed by his work ethic and leadership taken as a lifeguard under my supervision. One example of her initiative and proactive approach to guarding occurred just recently. Landon noticed and brought to my attention that there was a small piece missing on the backboards at both of the Georgetown pools. This was a detail that I had overlooked during my inspections prior to that. That instance stuck out to me because in my supervision of close to fifty lifeguards I have not seen that degree of initiative and attentiveness to detail. Landon is conscious of her responsibilities as a lifeguard and is meticulous in his efforts to maintain and foster a safe and sanitary pool environment. He also challenges those around him to perform up to standard. In our pools communication log, he is thorough in reporting necessary information to his fellow lifeguards. Landon attempts to help those around him become better at what they do. For these reasons I recommend Landon to you. Due to his leadership, impressive work ethic, and attention to detail, I believe that he will be a valuable asset to your staff. Sincerely, XXX XXXX Supervisor, Pro Pool Management & Service XXX XXXX Head Lifeguard SPAC XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XX XXXXX February 12th, 2008 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to recommend Landon for employment as a lifeguard. He has over two years of experience as a professional lifeguard, most recently at the Shaw Park Aquatic Center and the Center of Clayton aquatic facilities in Clayton, Missouri. I have worked as him direct supervisor in both locations. I have known Landon for nine months in my capacity as a head lifeguard at the SPAC and the Center of Clayton. In that time, he has proven extremely reliable as an employee. Landon has never missed or arrives late to an assigned shift at either Clayton pool. Furthermore, he is extremely willing and eager to assist other guards with their schedules in the event of a conflict: since working at the Clayton pools Landon has substitute-guarded for other guards more than 200 times. Landon is a dedicated and professional lifeguard: he is very skilled in CPR, first-aid, and general lifeguarding skills. He scans his area of coverage very efficiently and has never missed an assigned in-service or skills refresher course. He always arrives to work in proper lifeguard uniform. I believe Landon would make an excellent addition to your lifeguard staff. If you have any more question please speak to the Aquatics Supervisor of both Clayton pools, XXXXXXX XXX. Can I file for the life long learning credit being a full time student? Turbo tax wants to know if am a full time student so that I can receive an education credit. It also asks if i have taken post high school courses to improve or acquire job skilsl for the lifelong learning credit (aimed at those who do extended education). Although I am a full time student, not doing extended education, I have technically taken a course on first aid/CPR earning certification that qualifies me to work many jobs (such as a camp counselor). Should I go ahead and try for the lifelong learning credit as well by checking the box that asks if i have taken post high school courses to improve or acquire job skills? my cpr courses were at an accredited four year uni.
Any lifeguards out there have advice for me? I just made it into the lifeguard training academy. Its in about 3 weeks and Im curious what types of skills will I need to demonstrate to pass the course? I grew up on the beach in Hawaii, I was swimming before I was walking. I can run about 4 miles at a time, at roughly 9/10 minutes per mile, faster if its a shorter distance. I have taken first aid and cpr courses, and even a combat life saver course in the military but for some reason Im nervous about passing. Any advice? Is it really intensive or hard? Do you need to be like a gym rat or anything?
Help with a career essay please!!? okay so I have to write an essay for speech. its about a career that i am interested in.It has to be atleast 800 words mine is about a police officer. giver me your opinion please and what i should add. delete. anything. and maybe some facts abbout a police officer that i should have. thank you it would be much apprecitated: Ever since I was a little girl , I have shown interest in aspects of the law. I know that I want to attend Sam Houston StateUniversity for their Criminal Justice dapartment. Therefore, one of the careers I have thought of pursuing would be a police officer. Police Officers work in partnership with the public to reduce crime and enforce federal, state and local lawsthrough the legitimate use of force. One of the main reason I would like to be a police officer is because they help people from others and theirselves unselfishly. Police Officers have a tough job but very rewarding and it is a job that I might like someday. A police officer has many different jobs. They conduct patrol duties and investigate crimes through gathering evidence and interviewing victims, suspects and witnesses. They also maintain order by directing traffic, conducting arrests, issuing traffic tickets, preparing crime reports and responding to incidents of public disorder. They also assist when there is a vehicle accident or other road-related incidents. They may also help in criminal prosecutions and provide a testiomony in criminal cases. Police work can be dangerous, stressful, and difficult. Police officers work atleast forty hours a week alot of the times more because police work is a twenty-four hour job. Officers have to be ready to go to work at all times. If officers work overtime they do get extra pay. The average salary of a police officer varies depending on the size and location of the department and each individual officer's experience. It also depends if you are working for a local or federal agency. The lowest-paid ten percent earn an annual average of twenty-seven thousand and the highest-paid ten percent earn an annual average of seventy-two thousand dollars. Police officers often have benifit plans, uniform allowances, and pension plans. In order to become a police officer, you have to atleast have a highschool diploma but some departments also require a college degree. All federal and stateAgencies a college drgree is required. Officers must pass a civil service exam, a written test. They must be healthy, strong, and of a good character. State and local agencies encourage applicants to attend courses or training related to law enforcement. Before officers first assignments, they have to go through a period of training at a police academy, wether it is offered by the acency or they have to go to a regional or state academy. Applicants with college training in police science or with military experience will have the best opportunities. Police officers must have strong interpersonal skills including social perceptiveness and listening skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving ability are significant for analyzing a situation and deciding a course of action. Being physical and fit is a big help and so is knowledge of a foreign language. Strong investigative skills are required for this job as well as life-saving skills such as CPR and first aid. Police officers are stongly encouraged to have strong ethics, courage, and stress managment skills. The things I like about the career of a police officer would be the new challenges of each day and the benefit of helping someone elses life. I like the idea of saving people's lives and changing others. I also am fond of the uniforms they where. I think I could make a good officer, I love people and benefiting others. I believe that I would have to work hard and it would definatley be difficult but well worth it. The things that I dislike about this job would be the dangers involved with being in the line of fire. This would put alot of stress on my family and therefore me as well. But while saying this I think if I could help others make their lives better than it would be every bit worth my life for that.
Enviromental health and safety jobs? I currently work for a safety company, but I am looking to become the safety officer or EHS manager at another company. This would be a nice step up, however, I dont have a degree in EHS and I can NOT go back to school for it. What I do have, is the same training they have due to my last 3 years of work history. I also have my OSHA 30 course certification, and also my first aid/ cpr/ aed certification. I have extensive knowledge of products, and facility management. Does anyone know if I will need more certs or classes in order to qualify for one of these jobs. This is one of those careers, where on the job skills and experiance out weight schooling, and I have a lot of experiance, but not the degree? Please help!
Should I Drop Out of this course? I attend a community college and I am getting ready to transfer to major in a community college. Right now I am taking pre-algebra and a CSS course. I do not need the CSS course but I am taking it to broaden my skills. The CSS class is particularly time consuming. I have a 5 year old child who I have to put in front of the television for 2 hours just to get the assignment finished. Each week we have 66 pages to read, two quizzes, two sections of lecture notes and 10 hands on practices. I feel as though I am spending all of time in this class and no time focusing on looking for internships and searching for summer writing jobs. I harvestedd 90's and 100's in all of my assignments. But the class is a bit nerve wracking in time consuming. What should I do? Should I withdraw? This will be the second withdrawal this term. The first withdrawal shouldn't have counted since I signed up for the class late and never started the actual course. In addition to this I am basically taking composition 2 for my mother. I receive financial aid.
Medicine at university? Hey, I'm 16 and doing A-Levels in biology, chemistry, geography, philosophy & religion and general studies. I'm working at straight A's in all of them. However, in my GCSEs I got 1A*, 7A's and 3Bs. But my B's were in maths and science. My tutors at college said that my GCSEs don't matter because they can put a reference in explaining that it wasn't my fault that my grades are quite low for medicine. I run an art class weekly for children (age7-10) and I volunteer in a nursing home once weekly. I have two weeks work experience in a GP, a wekk in a hospital and a week in a medical research centre. I have a key skills qualification level 3 in Communication and next year I hope to do an EPQ. I am doing a SJA first aid course also. If I ace the UKCAT what do you think my chances are? Thinking of applying to Manchester, Liverpool, Keele and Durham. Thanks in adavance : ) The reason that I underperformed was due to stress, a week before somebody very close to me died suddenly in a car crash and I have done numerous practice questions for the UKCAT already.
Resume Question: Whats the differance between...? I'm a high school student with no former job experience, but have a lot of volunteer work under my belt and a few certifications. (Red cross babysitters training course- offers first aid ect. and Manny's Drivers Ed- self explanatory). I need to know the difference between skills/certifications on a resume, and a summary of qualifications. (Educated answers only please!) So far under the summary I've seen people put their job experience, and their strengths. Skills/certifications seems to be the same except with certifications added and experience subtracted. If you guys can figure this out, which category would be my best choice to put on the resume? I'll be adding a couple details below to help your answers. Thanks to all who can and already have helped! My past volunteering work includes- Professional house cleaning, extensive hands-on assistance for the severely mentally/physically handicapped, secretary work at a real estate office, and the basic care of stabled horses. I'm currently applying to many differant places including coffee shops, bookstores, small resturants, and corner stores.
Follow Up from Bad Driving Skills...Looking for the perfect golf grip? I know I am asking a lot of questions about my lack of performance on driving a golf ball. I am serious about becoming the best I can be in the sport. I know I will never be a PGA product; however, learning is never a bad thing. When I received my Medicus double hinged driver I also received an instructional DVD. Of course in the DVD they showed the club breaking like the wind blew it over. I know my swing is terrible; the club was not breaking on me so I loosened the hinges, did I do the right thing with this aid or should I stay within manufactures specification? I did not get hurt on the price of buying both aids. I first went to the Medicus website after I had read something about them then went to eBay and bought both for the price of one. I have also bought a grip trainer from wal- mart expected to arrive this week (considering they said it was in stock at my local store and when I went there no one knew what it was) The DVD said there are 3 different grips on a club. The grip I use know is my right hand pinky finger interlocked with my left hand forefinger. This grip feels comfortable and I like it, however, am I using the right grip? If I am not then could someone tell me (please explain like I am a 2yr. old) all 3 different grips? As far as golf clubs go, could you also explain loft and lie, (again like I am a 2yr old) I am just not grasping the concept of the 2 and I know they are important or else people would not talk about them. If it would be easier to trade this info in email, (considering the sheer volume of questions I am asking on this subject) just send me one by clicking on my Icon.
Is there a way to be a body piercer without doing an apprenticeship? Hi, I am 17 years old. I am into body piercing. Ever since i saw my friend get his tongue pierced i have wanted to become a body piercer. I have recently gotten a double labret and im trying to convince my mom to let me get 3 more piercings. My problem is that in my city there is 1 tattoo place that doesn't offer piercings and the only 2 places to get a piercing done is in a beauty salon in my local mall that is run by Chinese people that cant speak english very well(witch would make it difficult to learn from them) and the other is a good friend that pierces out of his house (he is a professional and has completed an apprenticeship himself) but he doesn't pierce full time and told me he has no time to let me apprentice under him. I really wanna become a body piercer and im taking an online Blood-borne pathogens, CPR, and first aid course (the first aid and CPR i will do a skills test in person). I would like to know if there is a way to become a body piercer without an apprenticeship. I have thought about taking the course offered here http://www.universalclass.com/i/crn/12776.htm If i complete this course could i start piercing? I would start off with simple piercings and my friend will be able to give me advise and tips and can show me more advanced piercings in his spare time.
I am about to graduate as a CNA. Why is the skills test almost impossible to pass? I have almost straight 'A's in class and written tests, a high 'B' in First Aid/CPR, a separate class but they will ding you and fail you for the slightest mis-step in the skills test. It is 24 procedures to be learned line by line, in order. If you so much as let your shirt touch the sink in their 'special' wash hands procedure, you fail the entire test. I have practiced at home, studied the skill sets but cannot get all of them firmly implanted in my head in the 6 weeks that this course is offered.
my speech about the holocaust!? Hey if you are reading this... I just need someone to read my speech and help me with my presentation skills. I also have a few questions below about notecards. Thanks for anyone that helps... Propaganda was used by the Nazis in WWII as a weapon against Jews. It was so important that there was a Ministry of Propaganda, headed by Joseph Goebbels. Without their heavy use of propaganda, it is very likely the Nazis wouldn't have gained their power in Germany and the Holocaust may have never happened. To widen their audience, there was more than one media used for propaganda. Amoung these were leaflets, speeches, books, posters, and movies. The most infamous Nazi propaganda movie is Triumph of the Will by Leni Riefenstahl. This movie was a documentary of the Nazi Party congress in 1934. It was meant to be a record of how the Nazi Party began for future generations to see. It includes excerpts from speeches and cheering crowds. Some discreet messages were included, like at the beginning when Hitler's plane descended from the clouds as if from heaven. During the Nazi's power, a large number of pamphlets, newspapers, and other reading materials were published. The article "10 Responses to Jewish Supporters" addresses the Germans who didn't except anti-Semitism. The writer provides ten responses to the most common objections the Nazis faced. It shows the way the Nazis wanted people to view Jews. Argument 1: "You say that religion is a private matter, but you fight against the Jewish religion" Counterargument: "Actually, the Jewish religion is nothing other than a doctrine to preserve the Jewish race" (Adolf Hitler) Argument 2: "There are decent Jews after all" Counterargument: This little phrase "after all" proves that there are rare exceptions of no significance to our battle against Jewry as a whole. Argument 3: The JEw has a better price than a German businessman. Counterargument: It is because they force down prices form the manufacturer which means reducing worker's wages. Argument 4:" There are also Germans who are as bad as Jews" Counterargument: That speaks agains the Jews, not for them. It's proof that being a Jew implies someting bad. Argument 5/6 If a Jew is baptized or an established citizen they aren't Jewish anymore" Counterargument: "A Jew can never become a German. A Jew remains a Jew." Arguments 7/8: "The Jew is a human being too, and everything with a human face is equal" Counterargument: Of course a Jew is a human being. But they are not equal, like a fly is not equal to other animals because it is unpleasant. Argument 9: Anti-Semitism is only something for idoits! Counterargument: This is only said by Jews. Argument 10: Can you life with the uproar and accept the responsibility for the misery that the laws of the Third Reich bring to thousands of Jewish families? Counterargument: If a few hundred Jewish families go hungry, what is that against the many millions of German families Jews murdered over the course of centuries. As you can see, the Nazis were prepared for any doubts against them. The Nazis put out a booklet titled "What do I do in an Emergency?" It included survival skills and first aid tips, and several pages on how to deal with enemy propaganda. It warns citizens not to believe anything they see or hear by enemy countries, and not to listen to foreign radio. Ironically, this is an example of Nazi propaganda, because it insists to only believe the Nazis. The other countries were actually telling the truth on their radio stations, and if the German soldiers heard them, they would not stay loyal to the Nazis. One group that was targeted heavily by propaganda was children. Teachers were required to teach children about Jews, as seen in "The Jewish Question in Classroom Instruction". Children were taight made up physical characteristics of Jews. Pictures of Jewish people were hung in the classroom next to a picture of the ideal German type. The anti-Semitic propaganda was even used in math problems: "The Jews are aliens in Germany- in 1993 there were 66,060,000 inhabitants in the German Reich, of whom 499,682 were Jews. What is the percent of aliens?" Two picture books published by Der Sturmer, the most infamous propaganda newspaper, were Don't Trust a Foz in a Green Meadow or the Word of a Jew and The Poisonous Mushroom. The Jew is represented in this first book as deceptive and sneaky like a fox. In the Poisonous Mushroom, Jews are compared to poisonous mushrooms. They are a threat to German people, and the entire world. During the Nuremberg Trial, The Jewish Question in Classroom Instruction, Don't Trust a Fox in a Green Meadow or the Word of a Jew and The Poisonous Mushroom were recieved as documents in evidence. My questions are: 1. Is there anything inn 1. is there anyting innacurate, anyting I should change or re arrange 2. How do I recognize a quote when I say a speech out loud, as well as the arguments from the article. Should I say Argument and Counter argument every time? 3. Is this speech 3-5 minutes long 4. How should I close this speech? 5. Tips on nervousness, memorizaition. PS: A written copy does not need to be turned in. I am in 8th grade. Anything dealing with an actual book/movie/article is legit...

PARENTS: Would you hire me as your babysitter? I am a 13 year old and I took a babysitting course. I've been babysitting my younger sister who's now 7 years old for the past 3 years for about 6-7 hours a day. I've also babysat my friend's sister who's 4 years old and the youngest I've babysat was an 18 month old. I am volunteering for a Day Camp this summer to help make sure the kids there are safe and having fun. It's supposed to teach you leadership and child care skills. I gain a lot experience from this because I actually get to see how professional child care providers deal with the kids and because it runs from 9:30 in the morning to 4:30 three times a weeks, it's pretty long so I learn a lot. I may take a first aid and CPR course this summer but for the most part, I know all the basics about emergency first aid and CPR. My family bought the CPR Anytime Boxed Kit, it teaches you CPR. I know all the basic things about child care like handling emergencies and safety and things like entertaining a child, preparing a meal or getting a child to bed. You could be able to invite me for an interview or a free babysitting session to see how me and your kids get along. Would you hire me as your babysitter?
What First Aid courses offer useful training in my area? I live in the Lincoln area (Lincolnshire, UK) and i am looking for First Aid Courses that I can work my way up through from level to level which could offer me eventually physical experience if I volunteered somewhere. I am 16 years old and in the future I am looking in to going to university as a student nurse and joining the T.A's medical services. You ofcourse need experience to join the T.A and they do consider student nurses but I am looking for (if possible because of my age) to do some physical volunteer work whilst I am at college before I apply for uni, if you get where I am coming from? lol I have just started college and I am studying Health and Social care level 3 which cover core units of effective communication in Health and Social Care, equality, diversity and rights, health, safety and security in care, lifespan development, anatomy and physiology, sociology and psychology and a number of hours on work placement, there are also optional units like supporting adults and counselling skills. The level its at is A-Level and I have a current basic first aid certificate which runs out next year. Anyway, is there any ideas on what I could do? lol sorry for babbling :) xx
How to resuscitate someone with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator? I've been looking into taking a first aid course, it would be a useful skill to have. My dad has an ICD - an implanted defibrillator - and I was wondering what the steps would be to resuscitate someone with one fitted. I know that obviously the defibrillator is meant to do that, but if for some reason it failed what would you do? Can you perform standard CPR on someone with one fitted? Do you run the risk of being shocked if you are touching someone with an ICD that is defibrillating them or is it localised? Obviously I'd seek medical aid at this point also. Thanks!
Can anyone give me an opinion on my personal statement? I live in Portugal and i'm applying for medicine in the UK. I'm just about to send my application form but i'd just like to have an opinion on my personal statement, please: I will always have vivid memories of the two events in my life that made me realise that I wanted to be doctor. They both occurred in the same year, and although I was only eight at the time, I was able to understand the greatness of medicine and the fragility of life. Firstly, I remember being hit by a wave of relief when the doctor walked into the waiting room and told my mother and I that my father's life-threatening ear surgery had gone better than expected. This was when I fully grasped the power of medicine: the ability to save a person is one of the greatest things known to mankind. Nevertheless, I am also familiar with that gut-wrenching feeling of waking up to a phone call from the hospital informing my mother that my great-grandmother had just passed away. This experience made me realise just how fragile life is: in a second, it can all be over. After these two events, I wanted to know more about medicine and the ways it can be used to save lives. So, I started a collection of books, videos and figures of the human body then being advertised on television. Every two weeks I would receive a book, a video and a plastic replica of an organ, things that I immediately read, watched and placed in the correct spot in my human body replica. I could never wait for the next ones to arrive: the intricacy of the human body intrigued me and ever since I have been curious to learn as much about it as I can. Therefore, I chose Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at secondary school, subjects I not only knew would be important for medicine, but was also sure I would enjoy. Along with Philosophy, these have been my four favourite subjects throughout my schooling. I have just begun my last year, and will be taking, amongst others, Biology, Special Project, PE, Mathematics and English. I strongly believe that knowing how to work in a group as well as individually is an invaluable life skill, all the more for a medical career, and these classes, especially PE and Special Project allow me to develop in this area. Moreover, in Year Five, I was elected Deputy Class Representative, which means that I have known responsibility since a young age, and this year I have once again been elected Class Rep. I am also very eager to be envolved in my schools decisions and day-to-day life, so this year a group of collegues and I will be running for Student Council. My desire to help others has led me to volunteer at a nursing home, and I must say assisting the elderly with their everyday activities, helping them to have fun or just sitting down and talking to them is extremely rewarding. Volunteering further helps me improve my communication skills, sense of responsibility and autonomy, all of which I think are important in a physician. In the coming Christmas holidays I will be taking a First Aid course and shadowing a doctor at my local hospital, where I hope to observe an operation and come into contact with a variety of patients. Apart from my interest in my studies, I also enjoy going to the gym and going out with my friends and family, especially to the beach. Indeed, doing physical activities, especially swimming has always been a great passion. When I was five, I started lessons, and right from the start, I knew I would love it. I went on to win various certificates and badges, but I had to stop when I was eight, because at that age I moved to Madeira. I want to study in the UK not only because of its international reputation, graduate prospects and considerable student satisfaction, but also because I was born and raised there until I was eight: it is my country of origin. I also have close relatives living there whom I can contact at any time, which I feel is very important when you are making such a change as leaving secondary school and starting university. Ultimately, my goal is to become as successful a professional as I can, and I know that by studying in the UK I will have the opportunity to do so. Thanks :)

Teachers and TA's- Help!? Hi everyone :) I've been looking at going into teaching for a little while now and I'm really confused about how I actually get the qualifications! I already have ALL A-C in my GCSE subjects, all B's at A-Level (including English) and I have a degree in Sociology (2:1.) Ideally I want to get on to do a SCITT course but it doesn't appear there are any in my local area and I really can't move away from my partner, family and job (even if I wanted to I couldn't afford it!) I am working voluntarily in my local primary school which I also attended but the Headteacher has hinted that if I do well I might be taken on as a paid employee. I really want to get onto a SCITT course but have no idea HOW to do it OR where I would go because there seem to be no providers near me. I'm attending a TDA open day in March but I'd really like to be more prepared before I go. I have a CRB check and I'm considering taking a First Aid course to enrich my CV and general skills. Can any teachers/teaching assistants tell me how they got their QTS? I just can't seem to find a way in! Help! Primary School is what I want. The TDA website is VERY unhelpful about HOW to get into these courses!
Being a St John Ambulance member? Is the course hard i got my letter today it involves first aid, ,care skills, manual handling , and health and safety , but now im really scared i wont be able to do it but its what i want to do, does anyone have any experience ?Thanks
Babysitting Course Should i attend it? 60.00 for 1 day to learn.? In the course it talks bout;his course teaches skills that will help a student to be more confident as a mother's helper, staying at home alone and to begin babysitting. Choking skills (breathing emergencies) and rescue breathing is checked with each student. Many other topics are worked on as mentioned on our flyer including simple first aid etc., dealing with strangers, answering the door and telephone, creating a safe environment, the Canada food guide, nutrition, healthy meals and snacks, fun games for different age groups, coping with problems, information parents need to provide to a babysitter (creating a babysitter binder) as well as many other topics. i just dont know if i should,i do need some money and there are ALOT of people who need babysitters for saturday nights. So is the 60.00 worth it?
Short qualifications to boost cv? I'm taking a basic first aid course and a food hygiene course on the top of a chemistry degree to not only improve my cv but to gain life skills as well. They're short and cheap (£25-30). I was just wondering if anyone could suggest anything else?
Are online CPR and first aid course legitimate? I'm trying to gain as many skills as possible and was wondering if the online courses were legitimate alternatives for the instructor led classes. Are some courses better?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how confident are you in your abilities to deal with a zombie apocalypse? Now of course, knowing how to use a riffle or, my personal favourite, a katana... are all useful skills. But it'll probably take more than that. We'll also need people who can ensure food and water supplies stay clean... knowledge in first aid is certainly a plus. Actually, the ability to stay awake when you are needed to stay awake is quite a useful survival skill in such situations. How ready are you?

Would it be worth it to take a class on Emergency Management in high school? I have to choose an elective next year, and I'm thinking about taking a class on Emergency Management. The course teaches: First Aid and CPR skills Using an AED Personal Safety Natural Disaster Preparedness Violence Prevention Sexual Assault Prevention Driver Education It is also taught by a certified instructor and I will get a chance to receive a Red Cross certification in First Aid. Is it worth it to take this class? Even if I might not plan to get a job relating to health?
