What's the difference between Padi's Emergency First Response Course and a regular First Aid Course? I want to take the rescue diver course, but Padi requires you to take a First Aid course beforehand. They have their own course available, but what's the difference between their course and other first aid courses?

Parents: Have you done a first aid course? I've just completed mine. It was done through my NHS run Mum and Baby group. Alot of it is common sense but there was also alot of stuff I didn't know what to do. Do you feel that you could cope with any accident that might happen to your child? He is really good with kids. CPR and First aid course? I signed up for a Red Cross first aid, cpr, and aed course. The whole course is 8 hours. Does anybody know if those 8 hours include taking the certification tests? or will i have to take the certification tests on my own?

First Aid course: part two? As in the earlier question, i've done a first aid course before, in CPR about 3 years ago, but now i'm looking for a part time job, am 18. I'm leaning towards either Emergency First Aid, which seems good enough for what i would need - to be a good citizen and all - or Advanced First Aid, on the advice of another Answerer, but the latter is a LOT of information to grasp, having just finished high school, and uni (hopefully) next, i don't think i'd be able to grasp or even retain most of that info.

Why is it so darn difficult to find a first aid course in the UK? I'm really desperate to do a first aid course for parents. My son's at that age where he's constantly getting into scrapes and situations and I'm panicking that one day he's going to come to some real harm, and I wouldn't know how to do the Heimlich manouvre or CPR if you paid me. I've read plenty of instructions on the internet but I still don't feel comfortable that I'd know how to do it all. I've been back and forth looking at courses. Emailed my local colleges - all their courses are discontinued. Emailed St. John's Ambulance - no reply, and I've searched in all manner of ways for the parent first aid courses they *say* they offer, and it brings up no results, the only thing I can find is a paediatric first aid course for training professionals and that costs about £100 which I cannot afford and probably couldn't get on to anyway considering I don't work with children, I just, God forbid, raise one! I've also tried contacting local hospitals and they told me to try St. John's Ambulance argh. Don't you think it should be something that's more easily accessible to parents!? I don't feel like I should have to hunt around, let alone come to dead ends, for something so basic. Considering the amount of useless pamphlets we parents get through the post for nothing and everything, surely this should be something we are offered. Has anyone else had this trouble, and did you find a solution?!
I was told i could use ADF to apply for a first aid at work course at dudley college? I made an appointment with the job centre and they told me no. I ave been signing on for more than six months to say the least and the job centre refereed me to a course at college which i am currently attending and i was hoping to add the first aid course into that schedule but now i cant. Can a company you work for legally force you to take a EFAW first aid training course? I've worked in a petrol station for the last 8 years and just recently they've told us that we've got to go on an EFAW first aid course. The sight of blood makes me pass out. If we refuse they've said we should consider our position in the petrol station. Can they actually force us do it?

Why is it they say Never move a casualty with a spinal injury unless it's a must, but in my first aid course? a MUST, such as drowning or a burning house, but in my first aid course they showed us how to move a casualty with a spinal injury , putting them into the recovery position such as unconscious breathing casualty, they told us (and showed us how)to MOVE them into the recovery position (so they dont choke on their tongue), keeping the head,neck and spine all aligned. My question is then why do they always say Dont move them??

just did a first aid course at school, am i a first aider ? ok so today was the start of yr 11 for me and we had a first aid course thing that lasted about 4 hours , we did the primary survey e.g. checking if there conscious or not , lifthing thier chin up so the airway is open and clear , we aslo did CPR , and how to put the bandage thing on and learnt about other things . anyway when i get my certificate does that make me a first aider ?
