Does anyone have tips for the American Red Cross First Aid Test? I am taking a course in First Aid by the American Red Cross and I need to pass the test on First Aid with a 80%. My teacher said it is 15 questions and I am worried because there is a lot of information. I read the manual but I am not sure if I will remember all of it after all I can only get 4 wrong. Does any one have any tips that has already taken it? What should I focus on? Should I memorize numbers?
Anyone know of any inexpensive first-aid courses available in Ontario? I live in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and I can only find a red cross first-aid course which costs 136 dollars .. any help is greatly appreciated.
Online CPR/First-Aid courses.. a scam? I found out my CPR/First-aid licenses are ending a month earlier than expected so I'm a little pressed for time. I did a quick google search (initially looking for Red Cross course) and online CPR/First-Aid courses popped up as one of the top results. Has anyone here taken an online course for these certs? It sounds really fishy to me, but I could be wrong. Any opinions/past experience?
Would you hire a 11 1/2 year old to babysit if she was really responsible and knows first aid? First Aid course? I'll soon be taking a 2-part First Aid course, but am really nervous! Can anyone tell me, in detail, what you have to do etc. i think it is a Red Cross course if this helps. Thanks!
CPR and First aid course? I signed up for a Red Cross first aid, cpr, and aed course. The whole course is 8 hours. Does anybody know if those 8 hours include taking the certification tests? or will i have to take the certification tests on my own?
Has anyone here been certified in CPR or Basic First Aid by the Red Cross? I'm one of two "First Responders" on my shift at work, and we recently had to be re-certified by the Red Cross. My only duty in that position so far? I got to clean out blood from one of our mixing machines at work (and off the floor!) after some tool sliced his finger on it. Of course, I also had to sanitize the thing as we are a pharmaceutical industry. Anyone else here in the same position of First Responder at their workplace? Thanks for adding to my poll's sampling.
How old do you have to be to take a american red cross course? first aid and cpr how many classes do you have to take

Has anyone taken an Online First Aid Course? I was noticing that basic first aid is offered online. I usually take this through the Red Cross, but wondered about how the online course would compare. Any commets are appreciated.
Where can I find a First Aid At Work Course run over weekend? St. John Ambulance don't do them over weekends anymore, nor do British Red Cross. I live in Manchester but would be willing to travel a little bit. By the way its the 4 day First Aid At Work Course not the refresher. Thanks Also, I am looking to do this by myself so please don't suggest an organisation who do it for companies only...
Parents, What do you look for most in a babysitter? Hi. I babysit for about 5 families who all say I am great. But, I want more cutomers. I thought that if I knew what parents liked I could improve my skills to get more families. Here are some of my qualities: mature, responsible, smart, witty, took the child/infant CPR and first aid course and the red cross and took a red cross babysitting course. Plus, I took another course on babysitting and Doctors Hospitable. Not to mention the numerous books I have read about it. Also, I have letters of recomendation. And experience with ages 6months through 9years. Anyway parents, please help me. Plus, I live in Augusta, Ga, USA. and go to private school and go to catholic church! I am 13 but I will be 14 in December!
MOMS & DADS: Would you hire me as a sitter? I'm sending this to a mom who is going to forward it to her friends: Hi, I'm Alicia. I have younger siblings. I am almost 14 years old. I am going into grade 9 in September. I also take French Immersion. I have babysitting experience with newborn babies to 12 years of age. I have taken the Red Cross Babysitting Course, Red Cross First Aid Course and Red Cross CPR Course. I have been babysitting for two and a half years, and have been a "mommy's helper" for about 4. I can clean the house, and cook too. I have experience of dealing with upset children and children who are sick. I always play with kids, and never just stick them infront of the TV. I love kids :) Any other questions, feel free to e-mail me at ********** or send me a message on Facebook. I had a bit more personal info, but nothing I wanted to broadcast over the internet. So, moms, would you hire me? What else can I include to attract attention over the other girls? THANKS Also: Should I include also that I have experience with multiple children (twins etc.) and more than 1 child at a time? I have never babysat disabled kids, but I had a friend with down syndrome, and helped autistic kids in my elementry school. How could I include that in there? Because one of the other girls has babysat an autistic boy. Also: Should I include also that I have experience with multiple children (twins etc.) and more than 1 child at a time? I Work in Essex and Need to do A First Aid Course in Essex. Other First Aid Companies want me to Travel.? I have a couple of staff in Essex that need to do a First Aid Course. Some Essex First Aid companies have offered me In-House courses but they are too expensive. I need a First Aid Company that runs open courses in Essex and is cheaper than the Red Cross and St Johns. Thanks for that! I googled Mediaid First Aid Training in Essex and they came up straight away. All the dates were on the website, I tried to book a four day course but they said I only needed to do a one day course! http://www.mediaid.co.uk/course-schedule.php
Where can I get certification for CPR and First Aid? I want to take a CPR Course with my brother (who wants to be a cop) and get my CPR/First Aid Card. However, I'm not sure where to go to find this sort of training. I have talked to the Red Cross, but the only one in town is sort of run down so I'm looking for other ideas? Do you have CPR/First Aid Certification? Can I get this from a local fire department? Thanks for your knowledge! We are in the Vancouver, Washington area. (sort of near Portland, Oregon)
Need a "dummy" for a First Aid presentation...where could I get one? Im doing a First Aid presentation for class and would like to use a dummy like they use in CPR/First Aid training courses. Is there anywhere I could get (or actually just borrow) one of these? I was thinking the Red Cross but theres not one close to my house. Any other ideas of where I could call and ask?
Do first aiders get paid more? I passed my first aid in the workplace course with Red Cross last week. Whilst there, some of the other candidates were discussing varying bonus rates for passing the course - some said they'd be receiving a little more per month in their wages, some said they'd be getting a yearly lump sum. I wasn't aware of a financial benefit for becoming a qualified first aider in the workplace - is this standard practice, or is it at the discretion of the employer?
i am looking for the website for the red cross ass? i need to do a first aid course does any-one have there address address especially in the south west of w.a
Are there exams and certificates for First Aid? I am a student and i would like to know if i studied from a book about first aid, is there an exam or a course i should do or take in order to be a trainer or be able to work for the red cross? and i would like to know what is the exam if there is.
Is there a difference between CPR "B" qualification and being certified in regular CPR? I'm applying for a summer job as a day camp counselor, and it says that I need to be qualified in basic first aid and CPR "B". If I'm planning to sign up for a first aid/CPR course with the red cross will I be getting CPR "B"? Or is that something separate?

red cross LIFEGUARDING? tomorrow is my very last day of my lifeguarding class. i am taking it in my highschool. my final written test consists of a first-aid section, and a head, neck, and back injury section. also, i will be asked to physically complete 3 life-threatening scenarios. to anyone out there who has taken this course offered by the RED CROSS, i was just curious if this test was on the harder side, or easier side? i've passed all the other tests.
Why can't this ADM figure out how to disperse Aid to the Katrina victims without red tape hang-ups? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/28/AR2007042801113.html?hpid=topnews NINETEEN month's since the tragedy occurred and only a QUARTER of the Aid that is sitting there has been doled out!! How would like to be challenged with survival for TWO YEARS without any help? Some of the funding has finally reached educational institutions and is beginning to be dispersed, yet the majority lies tied up in a beauracracy that can't figure out how to spend the money. The fact is, those agencies that have been chosen to dole out aid are doing so, but only after they take a chunk for Administrative costs. Profiting from this tragedy-inexcusable. The Bush-Clinton Foundation got their 25 million. Red Cross--25 million and of course a group of 10 Faith based organizations that have failed to achieve any of their goals received a chunk of millions too. Haliburton and Blackwater got their money--why can't the victims get theirs too?
How is it organized First Aid service in UK? I'm an italian Red Cross volonteer and here our ambulances has volonteer rescuers and a professional nurse (so 3-4 people in each rescue team, of course one is the driver). A few ambulances has a doctor in their team: these ambulances are involved only where a people has a very critic conditions. What's the organization in UK? All teams have a doctor? Are volonteer rescuers involved? Of course here in Italy ambulances are managed by public service too. Each region has a control room connected with public number "118" (free). Unfortunatly we haven't yet a universal number (like 112) for asking rescue: at the moment "112" in connected with "Carabinieri" control room, "113" with Police control room, "115" with Fire Department control room and "118" with Emercency First Aid control room.
Canine First Aid Class?? Did you know The Red Cross offers Canine & Feline First Aid Classes? I didn't until I just read my monthly issue of Pit Bull Lovers Gazette. It teaches you Pet CPR and other emergency care. http://www.redcross.org/article/0,1072,0_339_4395,00.html http://www.redcross.org/services/hss/courses/pfachapter.html#fl I'm definitely going to check on the course in my area.
Red Cross Lifeguard? I want to become a lifeguard for this summer and I understand I need to get my First Aid certificate. How much is that and the CPR certificate to just be a lifeguard in Los Angeles, CA? Is the lifeguard certificate a seperate course? Are they open on Sundays (Red Cross) so I can call?

Thanks... just curious *interacting. of course, babysitters are supposed to interact with the children :]

How much should i charge for babysitting? i'm 13 and i would like to start babysitting. i've practiced with family and i took red cross babysitting, standard first aid, and cpr child and infant courses. i was thinking about $2 per hour per kid or $2 per hour and $1 for every extra kid. Which one? Or do you have any other prices that you think would be right?

I want to start a babysitters club, how should I do it? oookkk. I want to start in my area a Babysitters Club for middle schoolers and high schoolers. It'll be also like mentoring program, and a tutoring program. We'll take trips, do fundraisers, etc., while providing a service for parents. I was initially gonna start it within the military families in my area, and my local church...Here is how I was gonna start it... - Every new member will recieve a Babysitters kit (made by me)which includes, a tell-all book, info, Kid Kit, etc -Initally membership is $10.00, which goes to CPR and First Aid certification and babysitting course by Red Cross. -We will have meetings 2 times a month, and when we have meetings we talk about new business, making of flyers, redoing Kid Kits, creating t-shirts, planning of trips, fundraisers, or more fun babysitting courses, sharing experience, etc, and eating...lol... -It is for ages 11-18, although, age 11 and 12 will not be babysitting they will be Junior babysitters, and will either accompany "Babysitters, and Senior Babysitters". Babysitters are the 13-15 and the "senior Babysitters" are "16-18" -The meetings will last 1 hour - 1/2. The last 30 minutes is when parents can contact the "Babysitters Club" to set up babysitting, or tutoring services. Prospective Parents can also sit in on the meetings and see how we run it, and at the end request services. I was wondering if this sounds good, and also how to run the money thing. I was plannign on having the babysitters KEEP the money, and MAYBE pay maybe 2-5 dollars to the club, depending on how much they made, when they come to the meetings. BUT, I dont know.... Also, I want to do something where the members can run for President, Vice President, Treasurer, etc...but should I do that? Does any of this sound good, or any one have any ideas? Would you join it? I'm preparing to call my local youth service center and ask to make one, but I wanted to know what ya'll think, and would ya'll either join or call! lol///THANKS!!

Do you think I'm mature enough to babysitt? I'm 12, I've taken rescue breathing and First Aid babysitting courses. I have a certificate from the American Red Cross. I've taken a week long babysitting course at a camp. I also babysitt my nephews and neice. What do you think. Would you let me babysitt your kid? I've baby sat plenty of times before for overnights.
How could I start a program like this? As many of you may know, I'm an RN and working on my MSN. In any case, I want to start a program within my town/state perhaps that allows teenagers the oppurtunity to get a hands-on approach at CPR, and some more advanced first-aid other than what the Red Cross offers. Such as Bag Valve Mask usage, O2 administration, and just a little more in depth stuff. They of course couldn't get an official certification since they're not of age but... a lot of kids would be interested in that! What do I need to do?
Where can I get free CPR training in Massachusetts? I am trying to find a FREE CPR course in Massachusetts, but not an on-line course. I tried the American Red Cross but they want to charge a fee. I would prefer to find one in the North Shore area, focusing on child/infant CPR and first aid.

What do you look for in a young babysitter? I am 11 years old and am very responsible. I have successfully completed the American Red Cross Babysitters Course so I know basic fist aid, and do exceptionally well in school. My report card is all A's and 4's, and I have won several awards including the P Residents Award of Excellence, the Modern Woodmen of America Speech Contest award, the Star Student:Math award, and I am in a GT (gifted and talented) class. I have participated in a WCATY (Wisconsin center of academically talented youth) class and also have taken DARE (Drug abuse resistance education) and Fire safety. I am an active member of our community church, I love reading and writing in my spare time, and love children! I have babysat before for kids aged 2-8 and enjoyed every minute of it. I am in several clubs including Site Council, AARK (amazing American resource kids) and CAW (cultures around the world). I'd normally charge around 2.00 an hour. This was not an advertisement, but a question. Would you hire me? Like, do I seem responsible enough to watch your children for short periods of time? If not, what sort of things should I accomplish before becoming a babysitter? Thank you! Liv: Sorry if I misspelled your name- I do know how to do what you said, pardon me for forgetting to mention the basics! I know how to make meals fun, such as ants on a log or smiley face pancakes, and persuade picky toddlers that beans are "body buddies" and are super delicious :)

Parents: Would you hire me as a babysitter? I'm a fourteen year old girl looking to make some extra money. I hung several babysitting fliers around my small town and told my neighbors who have children that I'm available for babysitting, but I've only had one job so far. I have five younger brothers and sisters, and one of them has Down Syndrome, so I have experience taking care of special needs children and infants. I took a babysitting course, and I'm certified in infant, child, and adult CPR. I also took a First Aid course at Red Cross. I get straight A's and I'm involved in my Church. I know I'm young, but I love children. Would you hire me as a babysitter? If not, why? I don't have a set rate, by the way. The one time I babysat I charged $7 and hour for three children. And I've been putting up fliers for 6-8 months, it's not like I decided to do this two weeks ago.
Red Cross Certification? Ok..here's the deal. I have gone to tons of classes with my youth group and school for CPR and first aid. i can do it all, tell you all about it, and i've helped little kids learn about it but i still don't have my special 'red cross certificate'. i would like to get it as it makes my knowledge a little more valid and such but i'm wondering if i can do that without having to pay the full thing and go to all the classes because i have already done all that. also--in the way of sports med or sports recuperation etc. is there some special course or certificate that might be the better option, because that is what i would mainly be using it for.
How much would you charge for babysitting for an hour? I'm 13 and i took a baby sitting course and learned CPR and first aid from the Red Cross.

Will you hire me 2 babysit in Kansas City, MO? Hi, I'm Taylor. I have younger siblings.I am almost 14 years old. I always play with kids, and never just stick them in front of the TV. I love kids :) Any other questions, feel free to e-mail me at ********** or send me a message on Face book.
Does this mean that I have to get the certificates before or after I get the job:? Upon a job offer, each Officer candidate must 11. Be able to complete and pass a psychological examination. 12. Must be able to successfully secure a Security Guard card issued by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). 13. Must be able to successfully complete the PC 832 (powers of arrest) course. 14. Must be able to successfully secure the appropriate BSIS certifications for the carry of pepper spray and baton (straight, side-handle and collapsible). 15. Must be able to successfully pass and complete an American Red Cross First aid/CPR and AED certification course. 16. Must be able to successfully pass and complete a Taser ECD certification course. 17. Each candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire. I am pretty sure that they do not work with a large security company because they are a private university that deals on a personal level. So I don't know if they give you the training, send you somewhere, refer you somewhere, go on your own, or if I have to have those certification before or if I can go ahead and try and get them once they give me the job offer or if there post on the job on their website is the job offer.

There is one down the road, and will have to renew my CPR for the year soon. Was thinking of taking the class. Is there a difference between the courses? Is one more widely accepted than the other? Thanks for the feedback.

Using a credit card online, is it safe to give out your credit card number ? i was looking to book a first aid course through the red cross but it requires me to give my credit card number to pay. Is that a safe way to pay or can they take as much as they want from the card?
What is babysitting like? I have applied to seven jobs, with no replies. I want to make extra money this summer, but it looks like I'm not going to get a real job. So, I am considering babysitting. If you have ever babysat, what is it like? How much did you get paid or how much did you charge? I have never babysat before, so I am considering taking the Red Cross Babysitting Course, Red Cross Child/Infant CPR Course, and a Red Cross First Aid Class. Also, how do you advertise that you want to babysit? I don't particularly want to post an ad on Craigslist. Thanks; I appreciate it! :)
When will my CPR, First Aid, & Lifeguard Certification come in? I took the course this weekend, and I wanted to know how long it will take until my cards come in the mail. My training was throught the American Red Cross.

If not why?
BASIC ANIMAL HEALTH COURSES? I am looking to enroll in courses on Dog and Cat health issues. I am very interested in classes that teach how to administer Injections, Zoonoses, First Aid. I am already taking a First Aid, and CPR course through The American Red Cross, so I am looking for other courses not offered by The American Cross. (Online courses are out of the question, i do not trust them.) I am living in the San Francisco Bay Area, this would be the best location for me. I am studing towards my b.s. in Veterinary Technology. So, I am looking for just experience.
