Does anyone have tips for the American Red Cross First Aid Test? I am taking a course in First Aid by the American Red Cross and I need to pass the test on First Aid with a 80%. My teacher said it is 15 questions and I am worried because there is a lot of information. I read the manual but I am not sure if I will remember all of it after all I can only get 4 wrong. Does any one have any tips that has already taken it? What should I focus on? Should I memorize numbers?
Is the Red Cross pet first aid class worth it? I'm interested in taking the pet first aid class that it offered by the Red Cross. I'm curious to know if it is worth it or if is just like a how to wrap your pet in a towel before you rush him off to the vet kinda thing. I don't know a ton about pet first aid, but I also don't want to spend $32 and 4 hours for nothing.
Requirements for Red Cross First Aid - AED/CPR - Adult Class? Hello, I was wondering if there is a age limit for the class I listed above. I am 13 years old , and was in a red cross GuardStart class (a class that teaches basic first aid / CPR skills and lifeguard skills.) However the class doesn't certify me. And for people that took the class, any tips? Thanks :)
Red Cross; First Aid and CPR? I have a project due for my First Aid / CPR class and need your help. Here is the assignment; Research events or times when the Red Cross or someone using Red Cross techniques have assisted someone in an emergency situation. Include the Date, location, situation, and outcome of said event. Write a brief 1 page write-up of the event. Last paragraph should be a summary of how you felt about the incident. Would you have acted in the same manner, or any different? What obstacles might have been in the way, like checking for safety, was 911 called? Give me as much detail as possible pertaining to what happened and the outcome Thanks to all who can help me
Does the Red Cross offer pet first aid classes in your town? They just started to here and I thought it was a great idea. They offer rescue breathing and CPR and how to look for signs of stomach distention. It's only a 4 hour class. I think it's important for all pet owners to know. Do they offer it where you live?
CPR and First Aid clases at the American Red Cross? So how does the whole CPR and First Aid classes at the American Red Cross thing work? Like what kinds of things do they teach you? And what does First Aid and CPR certification allow you to do that people without certification cannot?

What is the "Driver Frist Aid" certificate certified by Red Cross? There seem to be various certifications provided by Red Cross and I am quite confused! Coz they all seem similar. My mom, however, obtained the so-called "Driver First Aid" certificate (but she doesn't do driving as her job or career, but a yoga teacher)! I am just wondering is it the right certification for her, or does this certificate provide general knowledge of emergency handling? If so, why is it called "Driver"????
CPR - First Aid Certification, where can I go to get them other than Red Cross? A few years ago when I taught Pre School we always had a slip of paper that had a long list of classes for CPR and First Aid. Now that I'm no longer teaching I'm wondering how I get that same list of classes offered (many more than just at the RedCross). Does anyone know how I can find a list of classes in the Cleveland area?
Anyone else upset that the Red Cross was there to aid with Jena March in Louisiana? I dont believe it was a "disaster" situation that needed Red Cross funds, do you? Please email them and tell them you will not tolerate a miss-use of funds that way! To: dat251flava. Anyone that has "flava" in their avatar is obviously stupid to begin with...enough said. I wont waste my time on anything more with you. How was the march?
Has anyone here been certified in CPR or Basic First Aid by the Red Cross? I'm one of two "First Responders" on my shift at work, and we recently had to be re-certified by the Red Cross. My only duty in that position so far? I got to clean out blood from one of our mixing machines at work (and off the floor!) after some tool sliced his finger on it. Of course, I also had to sanitize the thing as we are a pharmaceutical industry. Anyone else here in the same position of First Responder at their workplace? Thanks for adding to my poll's sampling.
Why is Israel attacking red cross and UN aid? I don't believe whats happening and the whole world is watching Israel which is one of the strongest military forces kill over 700 Palestinians and wounding 3000. Today they attacked UN aid trucks and killed the drivers. Also red cross members came across children staying next to their dead mothers after their apartment building was destroyed. Dont watch CNN or FOX, you will not hear anything about this. Just read yahoo news about the catastrophe that is happening. Israel is saying they are defending themselves from Hamas which is a militant group fighting for the occupation. It actually looks like Israel is on the offensive by just reading whats in the news. And the US is not only allowing this top happen but also resisting the cease fire rule. Is the whole world blind and deaf about the terrorism that is going on?
i have just seen the news and the red cross is taking aid to kenya? why cant their goverment feed them after all it was the goverment that started the trouble out there its not that i,m against it but i think the goverment out there should help its people bruce m well said kenya has money but the people are in need and the goverment dont care
Is the Red Cross Wrong in the Advice they Give on Diabetic Emergencies? I just got a new job in a gym and part of my training was to become Red Cross certified in First Aid. My instructor said if a person is a known diabetic, giving them more sugar water won't hurt them. I come from a diabetic family (mom, dad, grandma, and 3 sisters) so I know a little about the disease. Couldn't you potentially kill someone by giving them more sugar and their level is too high already? I tried to make this point to my instructor and she just ignored me and kept going with the lesson. Am I wrong to be upset that the Red Cross is potentially training people in the wrong info on how to treat a diabetic? I would appreciate any and all help with this matter.
Has anyone taught classes though the Red Cross or similiar organizaiton? I would like to teach first aid, CPR and possibly other classes through the Red Cross or another organization. Has anybody done this? Is it difficult to get accepted into the instructor position? Do you get paid anything? I don't expect to make much because it's something I believe is important for people to know, but I'm just curious. Any other comments or advice would be nice. Thanks in advance.
Why did the canadian red cross give out AIDS?? Why would the canadian red cross give out tainted blood in the 1980's when they KNEW it was tainted with HIV AIDS?? You don't believe me? I truly hope that is a joke, or you lack serious knowledge.. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/taintedblood/bloodscandal_timeline.html
CPR and First aid course? I signed up for a Red Cross first aid, cpr, and aed course. The whole course is 8 hours. Does anybody know if those 8 hours include taking the certification tests? or will i have to take the certification tests on my own?
Is it hard to get certified in first aid and CPR by the American Heart Association? I was certified in CPR by the American Red Cross but it expired and am certified in first aid by the same organization, but that's due to expire in May and it wasn't too hard to pass the tests for that. Now I'm in a first aid and CPR class and the teacher says that we will be getting certified by the American Heart Association. I just was curious.
Where can I get certification for CPR and First Aid? I want to take a CPR Course with my brother (who wants to be a cop) and get my CPR/First Aid Card. However, I'm not sure where to go to find this sort of training. I have talked to the Red Cross, but the only one in town is sort of run down so I'm looking for other ideas? Do you have CPR/First Aid Certification? Can I get this from a local fire department? Thanks for your knowledge! We are in the Vancouver, Washington area. (sort of near Portland, Oregon)
Where can I find a First Aid At Work Course run over weekend? St. John Ambulance don't do them over weekends anymore, nor do British Red Cross. I live in Manchester but would be willing to travel a little bit. By the way its the 4 day First Aid At Work Course not the refresher. Thanks Also, I am looking to do this by myself so please don't suggest an organisation who do it for companies only...
Why did Israel prevent Red Cross ambulances going to the aid of Palestinian babies... ? ...who were still clinging to their dead and dying mothers after Israeli shelling ? 'The group said the Israeli army refused rescuers permission to reach the site in the Zaytun neighbourhood for four days. Once Red Cross teams reached the area yesterday, they found four small children next to their dead mothers at one home. They were too weak to stand up on their own. One man was also found alive, too weak to stand up. In all, there were at least 12 corpses lying on mattresses. In another house, a rescue team found 15 survivors, including several wounded. In yet another home, rescuers found three bodies. Israeli soldiers posted at a military position nearby ordered the rescue team to leave the area, which it refused to do' Source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/08/gaza-israel-palestinian-territories
Has anyone taken an Online First Aid Course? I was noticing that basic first aid is offered online. I usually take this through the Red Cross, but wondered about how the online course would compare. Any commets are appreciated.
The quote below is from the Red Cross/Crescent website-Your Opinion Please? Our mission and role "The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is the world's largest humanitarian organization, providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. " Since there are countries that will only accept the Red Crescent branch and not the Red Cross in for aid assistance-should money contributed to the Red Cross be used to support the Red Crescent? The organization claims not to discriminate against religion.
AIDS & The American Red Cross? Does anyone have information about The American Red Cross secretly blocking legislations years ago on the interference of testing of AIDS.

I'd love to learn first aid and cpr before the trip just in case. However, I look up the Red Cross, and they want something like $72. I have... $2 in my bank account. My father cut himself about 3 hours ago and will not stop bleeding. Should I take him to the ER? I am Red Cross first aid certified and have bandaged it up snugly with my first aid kit. The cut doesn't look deep enough for stitches to me but he takes plavix and aspirin every day due to heart problems so I'm supposed to expect a delay for bleeding to stop, but how long? I should have mentioned that my father refuses to go to the ER. Seeking medical attention will entail calling an ambulance and the police when he refuses to go. I try only to put him, my 2 young children, my husband and myself through this emotional trauma when absolutely necessary. You can only help someone so much when they don't want help.

first aid/CRP/babysitting classes-red cross or internet? I signed up on a babysitting site and they say you are more likely to get job offers if you are first aid and CPR certified. So I would like to get certified for adult, child AND infant CPR and first aid but there are so many options!! Many websites offer CPR classes now in addition to the red cross. Which is better and/or cheaper? Does one offer more? (like adding infant CPR?) Also, I'm 19 but I've never taken a child care or babysitting class. I would like to learn how to care for children under 3. How do I go about doing that?

Thanks for the feedback.

Red Cross vs American Heart Association for First Aid CPR Infant Child Cert? I need to be certified in First Aid and CPR for Infant and Children. I'm torn between Red Cross and American Heart Association. Anyone with opinions? I've learned that where ever you get your certificate from when using the AHA, you must recertify with them, these offices are privately owned. AHA doesn't have record of your certification. I didn't like that. AHA only provides certificate cards but no fullsize certificate. AHA classes seem shorter and they aren't required to give you a test. I know less about the Red Cross practices and would like to more.

What is your thoughts on The Red Cross gives first aid lessons to Taliban? The Red Cross in Afghanistan has been teaching the Taliban basic first aid and giving insurgents medical equipment so that fighters wounded during battles with Nato and Afghan government forces can be treated in the field, it was revealed today. More than 70 members of the "armed opposition" received training in April, the Red Cross said – a move likely to anger the government of Hamid Karzai, which is losing large numbers of police and soldiers in insurgent attacks. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it had introduced the classes because pitched battles, landmines and roadblocks stopped people in the most volatile areas from getting to hospital. The Red Cross, which aims to remain neutral in the conflict, has trained more than 100 Afghan soldiers and policemen, as well as a network of taxi drivers who operate an unofficial ambulance service in Helmand and Kandahar provinces. Today, a leading figure in Kandahar's local government, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the Taliban did "not deserve to be treated like humans". He said: "They are like animals, and they treat the people they capture worse than animals. They kidnapped and killed an American lady and then wouldn't even return her body. These people don't deserve this help." The Afghan ministries of defence and the interior said they were unable to comment on what they described as a highly controversial issue. A Nato spokesman in Kabul said: "Nato has tremendous respect for the humanitarian work carried out by the ICRC and we recognise the need for this work to be carried out impartially. "Isaf [Nato] forces also provide treatment to any case caught up in this conflict, including our opponents, in line with our own obligation to respect the rules of armed conflict." One of the ICRC-trained drivers, who transports sick and wounded people from Sangin district in Helmand, where some of the most fierce fighting is taking place, to Mirwais hospital in Kandahar city, told the ICRC that roadblocks and insecurity had lengthened the journey to six or seven hours, rather than the normal two. The extraordinary measure highlights how badly security has declined in southern Afghanistan, undermining this summer's effort by US-led forces to protect the population from violence. The ICRC said its volunteers in Kandahar and staff at Mirwais hospital had seen a "substantial increase" in the number of patients injured by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other weapons. Critics of the Nato push in southern Afghanistan, which is aimed at seizing full control of Kandahar city and central Helmand from the Taliban by the end of the year, said that coalition commanders had made the situation worse by publicising where they were going to launch assaults. By discussing publicly their plans in February for clearing the largely rural area of Marja in Helmand and then their desire to "clear" districts surrounding Kandahar city, Nato hoped many insurgents would simply choose not to fight. But in many cases, the move gave the Taliban time to dig in and plant IEDS in the areas. For years the beds at Mirwais hospital have been regularly filled with men with gunshot wounds, many of whom are insurgents. But ICRC staff, who support the work of the hospital, have learned not to ask questions about how they sustained their injuries. In general the government has been happy to allow fighters to come to the hospital, receive treatment and leave again. But in Helmand in April, the tacit approval for such humanitarian medical support appeared to break down when Afghan security services raided a hospital in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital, run by an Italian NGO called Emergency, which also has a strict policy of providing surgical help to anyone who needs it. Nine staff were arrested and accused of plotting to murder the provincial governor after weapons and suicide bomb vests were found in the compound. The International Committee of the Red Cross runs hospitals in Afghanistan, visits prisoners on both sides of the conflict and co-operates on various projects with the Afghan Red Crescent Society, a separate organisation, on various projects.
Red cross teaching taliban fighters first aid, should we shut them down? The Red Cross in Afghanistan has been teaching the Taliban basic first aid and giving them medical equipment to help fighters wounded in battles with NATO and Afghani forces. More than 70 members of the ''armed opposition'' received training in April, the Red Cross has said. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it had offered its medical expertise because it was difficult for the wounded to get to hospitals because of battles, landmines and roadblocks, aid and comfort to the enemy. I will never donate to them again. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/breaking-news/red-cross-teaches-first-aid-to-taliban/story-fn3dxity-1225871357493 Almost forgot the link
I recently found out that the red cross has been providing first aid training & kits to the Taliban.......? I have been a red cross blood donor for 11 years donating 3 times per year. I am also a US Army veteran. I have notified the red cross that I will no longer be supporting them through any type of donation. If one us soldier dies from a bullet fired by a red cross saved Taliban soldier it will be one too many. I ask you to set partisan politics aside most of us love America & know someone who has served. maybe a friend or a family member. show them you support them. show them you care by not supporting the red cross. Tell the red cross you will not support treason. will you join me? I have picked a side though and most Americans have as well. we do not side with terrorist nor will we help those who aid terrorist. The red cross can call what they are doing anything they want. I'll call it by it's true name. treason.
