Emergency Preparedness? I have been doing emergency storage for 3 years now. It saved me when I was out of work, sick ect. Not just for terrioisum which I am very prepard for but for anytime. A person who laughs at someone like me is not going to make it in todays world. Stores do now have more then a 2 week supply of items. Then what ? I stock up on food to last about 6 months or more but its stuff I use everyday so Im not out anything. I just have a little more then normal is all. At least my family will not starve if and when anything happens. I would like to hear from others who are into the emergency preparedness stuff . Is anyone else into this
Phone # and where to get emergency preparedness kits? Can anyone tell me where to get emergency preparedness kits and Free would be even better. There use to be a 1-800 or 1-888 # annouced over the internet? I have the preparedness guide but they don't tell you where to get the pre-ready kits.
Do you have an emergency preparedness stockpile? If so, of what does it consist? No need to be too specific, just a general overview is acceptable. Furthermore, what emergencies are you anticipating? If you don't have a stockpile, what is your reason? I don't think there's anywhere in the US that doesn't potential for some sort of emergency. Don't be ridiculous, insp. They government has little to do with this topic. They don't control the weather, they don't control the tectonic plantes, they don't control volcanoes, they don't control the people. The only thing the government has to do with this is that their incompetence is another reason to make sure you're prepared, because you can't count on them. It's ironic that the same government you complain about here is the one you'll be completely dependant on if something happens. Kinda bizarre really. Most of the anti-government types I know take preparedness to the extreme because they don't want to depend on the government for anything.
Would you appreciate a gift of an emergency preparedness kit? I am thinking of putting together personalized emergency kits for several couples on my christmas list (a tidy red box with self-charging flashlite, radio, water, food, and a folder for copies of important papers, etc.) Is this a nice gift or would you prefer something more like a book or bath soap? Man. This is not really helping me. Seems like half say, "Yes, great" and half say "No, too impersonal". I'm going to go with something else, I think, and just make a good kit for my own family. Thanks everyone.
Tips for packing an emergency preparedness kit? We're repacking our 72 hour kits and trying to ensure that they will be useful to us if we do need to use them. What are some tips that we should remember? What should we make sure to include? What should we not include? My husband and I do have an 18 month old toddler, so weight and ease of carrying are essential in case we have to carry our toddler and his kit. I know this isn't really related to camping, but I'm hoping that campers will have some suggestions on what essentials to include and how to pack them.
where is the office of emergency preparedness in Merced County Ca? If we were to have an earthquake via the san andreas fault, where would someone go to volunteer their services(help) to those in need-specifically. such as a command post or disaster response team? Also,do we even have such an agency setup to serve the public-volunteers?
Emergency preparedness, whats your plan? Its been three years since The Big blackout, and I was NOT prepared. Bank machines down we had no way to add to what little we had and we were not alone. We emptied our freezer and had a big barbque inviting most of our neighbors kids for a meal of hamburgers and and what ever else was defrosting. For a few days we were equal, equally without. No batteries,no bottled water,no news,no fresh food, no power. I swore we would be better prepared next time. Did you find your self in the same boat or did you think ahead and have a few more comforts? How would you do it differently? This question is concerns any disaster not just blackouts. The connection Emergency preparedness Thanks for the answers so far but I need serious answers if you would be so kind. I have lots of towels iansand9876 I am towel prepared. I guess I can burn them when the barbque is empty, and wipe the fear based sweat off my brow. I read War of the worlds tinfoilwindexwater I will keep that in mind. Only gangsters can have guns in our country and I am not a card carrying member glock509. Thanks This is a tiebreaker I can't pick so i will put to a vote. It is between jporrero78 and mury902 who will be doing pretty good next emergency,at least you have some important items. I just wanted to get people thinking and get ideas, thanks much! ~A~
Emergency preparedness Plan? How do we convince americans to benefit from an emergency preparedness plan against terrorism, hurricanes n tornadoes?
Does your religion/Church encourage food storage/emergency preparedness? I've noticed as of late that more religions than just LDS seem to be encouraging their members to have food storage and/or emergency preparedness items. I actually think this is a great thing for Churches to do. Does your Church do this? By the way, this is NOT a flame another religion, my-religion-is-better-than-yours question. If you can't state things in a polite way, please just skip this question and move on to another one. Yes, food storage for yourself/family. I've noticed that some Churches are encouraging their members to do so. Food Storage isn't for The Rapture. Rather for things like Katrina, rising prices of gas and foods, death in the family, divorce, unemployment, war, famine, ect. I've just noticed that some Churches have decided it would be a good idea for members to be better prepared.

Boy Scout Merit Badge Question: Emergency Preparedness? Does anyone know of a specific example of an emergency service project that would meet the following requirement?? 7. Take part in an emergency service project, either a real one or a practice drill, with a Scouting unit or a community agency. Thank You
Why do people resist practicing Emergency Preparedness? IE, Katrina and any # of Disasters...? Human beings all over the world won't do preparedness. Much of the third world countries people have no resources to start or even consider it....but whatis the excuse of Americans NOT practicing preparedness? The attitude that a person cannot prepare for disasters shows not only a self-defeatest tendency toward DEPENDENCY but also a lack of self preservation. As so-called human's, who like to think themselves superior to animals, it doesn't wash that we cannot prepare as much as possible so that we can at the least, hedge our bets to survive. Do not think for one second that humankind cannot go extinct. Archeology and history proves differently..
Emergency Preparedness Planning? What can the government in your area do to help you feel more safe? Are you prepared for emergency situations? Such as stockpiling food and water in your home? For how many days? What other items are you stockpiling? What is the type of emergency that is most worrysome to you and your familiy in your area?
Emergency preparedness help!!!? I need help with the requirement about writing a mobilization plan for my troop in an emergency situation. I know my troop doesn't have one in place, so I really am starting from scratch and I could use some help. Just explaining the concept, even, would be nice...
Emergency Preparedness: What's your take? So, [even] the federal govenment recommends that you and I have emergency food & supplies set aside: http://www.ready.gov/america/getakit/ The U.S. Government is recommending ~at least~ [a] three days supply of food and water (and other things, too). Have you done this or do you think you can get 'er done after 'something' has happened? If you have prepared, what have you done? How many days worth of food do you have for each person under your roof? Have you made any provisions for other people / family [members] that might show up? What about provisions for water? Do you have water stored? If yes, how (in what-type container, etc.)? How much (per person)? What other provisions, if any, have you made? Do you think it's all for nothing, or are you taking these recommendations seriously? I notice that no where on the government's website do they talk about provisions for personal security. I find that very odd, if they truly wanted to make a list of "must have's" . It stands to reason that if something major were to happen that would cause a person to need emergency food, water, etc, that things would be chaotic....seems like the police would be rather strung-out and busy doing all kinds of things (like trying to stop people from looting food and worse). So, do you have a weapon of some sort, or will the police be there for you if you needed them? While the "weapon" question might be to most entertaining (to the cynical-type), please try to be sincere and answer all of these questions. I am genuinely interested in finding out what measures people have taken, if any, to prepare for "something". I am not trying to incite anyone. I am asking for a reasearch project that I am doing. So, you can snuggle in with your book, just after you read to gov't website link about preparation. If anyone is "inciting" it is the fed. govt
Emergency Preparedness Kit? I have been watching a lot of Google Movies lately, like: Endgame zeitgeist The Esoteric Agenda (If You Know of More PLEASE Let Me Know) I want to make a proper emergency kit for the house in case of a disaster. My problem lies in the amount of people and the brands of products to use. 6 Adults 2 Kids 1 Infant And... Next Door We Have MORE People: 3 Adults 3 Kids I am looking for not just a LIST OF ITEMS NEEDED but AMOUNTS OF ITEMS NEEDED for the people in my home and the BRANDS that will work best being that things like Fluoride are already in many bottled products. We have a location set up already that is off the grid but we need to pre stock it now. FOOD and WATER does not have to be your only suggestions. I am looking for long term items like BOOKS, MANUALS, GENERATORS, and MORE! Thanks in advance for all your help!!! No silly or meaningless answers PLEASE... Thanks!
Has anyone else started an emergency preparedness kit ? With all of the crap happening lately with flooding, local earthquakes, etc. I've started storing MRE's, dehydrated foods, etc. because it's become obvious that anything can, and has been happening. It's scary to think what would happen if food shipments stopped suddenly due to an emergency, and how many people think they can get by without any provisions !! Didn't anyone see what happened in New Orleans, or what's happening in the Midwest now ?? I've also insured a fresh water supply that is seperate from my local utility. It seems we are living in such uncertain times, and the majority of people are oblivious ! Anyone else think so too ???
self sufficiency, survivalist, emergency preparedness.? My husband, dog and bird are worried about the future. We clip coupons, drive old cars, have no debt and have a yard large enough to grow food and keep animals, however, we have two mortgages. We owe 211K in California and 144K in North Carolina (we rent this house). I am afraid this will prevent us from being self sufficient. What can we do to be ok? I do have debt, my mortgages but I owe nothing else. Sorry for the confusion.
LDS Emergency Preparedness And Heat? ? I had this thought today, what if the tribulation happens durring the winter time and there is no heat because everything is shut down. So no matter how much food and water I have, I'll eventually freeze to death, die from ammonia or cold. Now you people who have fire places will be fine but what about those of us who live in apartments and have no fire place. Where are we going to get heat? ALSO, if I live in an apartment durring the tribulation and all the banks are shut down, how am I going to pay my rent? Am I going to live on the street with my food and water storage? My manager might be screwed anyways since he can't get his money out of the bank either.
What items do I need for general emergency preparedness? I have a wife and four children. I am wondering what items to keep on hand in case (the Dow drops below 8000 and there are massive riots. That's silly right?). We have a tent, I bought a propane lantern and cook stove. I have 100 lbs of rice and I have 75lbs of beans on the way. specific questions: 1) How do I store enough water for 6 people? It has to be mostly maintenance free because it is going to be a lot of water. 2) How much food do I really need. It seems like that should do it 100lbs of everything but growing kids (8,6,3,3) can throw things off a bit. 3) I probably need more lighting, are there any other items that I could use that I might be missing? I want to keep it reasonable but useful. I am trying to buy things that will keep, and that we would use anyway. Also the only other thing that I can think of is a gun, but with 4 young kids I don't even want to think about that. Thanks for all your help.
What are some possible emergencies that would require evacuation or sheltering in place? I live in an area that is extremely unlikely to be hit by floods, hurricanes or wildfires. What are some other reasons that would require emergency preparedness or evacuation. Asking because it may influence how I prepare for the "just in case". Looking for the obvious I may have missed as well as more far-fetched-never-thought-of-that before type stuff. Possible events and stuff to stash away is helpful. Also what are some good survivalist/preparedness websites?

Putting together an Emergency SHTF Kit... sterilizer? I am making an Emergency Preparedness Kit. I have all the basics in there, some non-perishable foods, first aid kit, rain poncho, TP, pocket knives etc etc... What sterilizer should I add to it? Rubbing Alcohol? Hydro-Peroxide? Iodine? Rum or Whiskey? (Seriously, is rum or whiskey good for sterilization, as it would also be good for other things in case of SHTF)
Singapore Emergencies preparedness? Hi, i would like to ask everyone in what way do you feel that Singapore is ready for emergencies. Emergencies such as terrorism, fires, floods etc. Thank You.
Improving Emergency preparedness among California Residents? Discuss what you believe should be done from a public health perspective to improve emergency preparedness among California residents. Include an explanation of the role government and non-government agencies should have in assisting groups of individuals improve survival and reduce their risk of injury or death during a natural or man-made disaster.
I don't understand Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge requirement 6a.? The requirement says: Tell the things a group of Scouts should be prepared to do, the training they need, and the safety precautions they should take fore the following emergency services: 1. Crowd and Traffic Control 2. Messenger service and Communication 3. Collection and distribution services 4. Group feeding, shelter, and sanitation.
What would you put in a fire preparedness kit? I am preparing an assignment preparing individuals with disabilities for fire safety. We would like to propose a hypothetical emergency preparedness 'kit', including emergency numbers, a bottle of water, etc. What do you think should be in it?
What would you put in a flood preparedness kit? I am preparing an assignment preparing individuals with disabilities for flood safety. We would like to propose a hypothetical emergency preparedness 'kit', including emergency numbers, a bottle of water, etc. What do you think should be in it?
Emergency Preparedness exercise? Whether caused by sudden unemployment, natural disaster, stupid politicians or whatever, if you went outside right now and turned off your electricity and water and gas and pretended you couldn't use your car, could you survive for 2 hours? 2 days? 2 weeks? What would the answer be in winter? @Becky: With the electricity off the store cash registers (scanners tracking inventory) won't work and the dolts there can't make change without them. With no price stickers on each item, just finding the total would be chaos. Also, once the shelves are cleaned out by the unprepared, if the trucks don't come every day, they've got nothing. PS: Hospitals are in the same "just in time" supply mess. They depend on a constant flow of delivery trucks. They have no big storerooms of supplies, that ties up $ and space. If the trucks stop today, they start running out of stuff tomorrow. But yes, bicycles are allowed in this game.
Can anyone help me find a form for family preparedness? Maybe like, a form that you can list your emergency numbers and places to hide in the house. Something with good detailed info, but can be compacted down into 3 or less peices of paper. Im getting into the whole 'family preparedness' thing.
What song is being played in the readynyc.org Emergency Preparedness commercial? There is a very beautiful, gloomy sounding piano number being played in the commercial from readynyc.org where a family's house literally turns upside down. Here's a link to the commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps0bajelhM4 If anyone could tell me the name of the song, if it even is an actual song and not just a thing made for the commercial, I'd appreciate it if you let me know. Thanks!
What should be included in an Armageddon emergency preparedness kit? A friend of mine started a SHTF emergency supply kit thread on Facebook. Each day someone generally adds an item or two that should be kept on hand in case a large scale natural disaster puts us in the survival mode. What about Armageddon? What should I stock up on just in case Satan is released from the abyss and Gog and Magog start whoopin' up on us?
Why bother to have an emergency preparedness kit on hand? With the threat of radiation looming over the heads of Californians, does having any type of an emergency kit really matter? Sound like we're gonna die anyway. Potassium Iodide Tablets won't help a person if they don't know when to use them. So, would any of you bother to gather supplies in case there's some type of a disaster on the horizon? ........or would just just "WING IT" & take things as they come?
Where Can I Find An Emergency Preparedness Calculator? The Latter Day Saint religion request that you have an emergency preparedness storage in which you have supplies such as food, flash light and so forth, but the problem I am having is trying to find the right things. For example I am trying to save up on shampoo's, conditioner's, body soaps, etc... and I don't exactly know how much of each I would need in year, could any one help me out with this problem, and tell me where I can find a calculator to calculate it?
What to put in an emergency preparedness bag? I need ideas of what to put in an emergency preparedness bag. Well... More of a bag that I can just pick up and it has everything I would need(generally speaking). A bag that I could take camping last minute. Not necessarily sleeping bags and stuff but the essentials. Things that would help whether I was camping, or just going to the pool( like a pocket knife{I take one everywhere})
Can someone please send me a link for the Emergency preparedness merit badge answers? I really need answers to the emergency preparedness Merit badge. Be nice and help me out, post a link or something. And please dont talk about the stuff about " boy scouts being honest and stuff like that", half of the successful people in this world have become successful because they cheated somewhere in life. Id appreciate it greatly. BTW this is regarding Boy Scouts of America ( just to clear up confusion )
Need help on emergency preparedness plan? i need help on the following questions. 1. who prepared the plan? 2. are there any potential problems in the plan 3. what role do allied health professionals play in the plan?
