camping first aid kits Knowledge Base
What's in your car camping first aid kit? I'm building my own first aid kit. I know there are pre-made ones on the market, but I already have a lot of the stuff from an old one that came out of my car. And although I appreciate the thought, I'm not looking for a typed up list from a camping site. I'm looking for items that are the most practical and actually get used. We are fortunate to live in a city with numerous places to camp less than half an hour away. Because of my DH's work we won't be going any further, thus we will always have quick access to medical care. This is what I already have: 3 dozen bandaids, various shapes and sizes (I can add more if need by, I have a ginormous Costco sized box.) 2 triangle bandages several rolls of gauze, gauze pads, tape, and scissors triple antibiotic cream (this is new, just purchased) 2 pairs of gloves (do I need more?) a hypothermia blanket I know I need to get some tweezers, benadryl, and tylenol. What else? TIA! Also, we have a 4yo, almost 2yo, and a dog if that matters. Thank you so much momshieb. I knew there were simple items I was forgetting. I do have some alchol pads so I'll throw those in. I'll pick the rest up tomorrow. Anyone else?

Essesential checklist and tips for camping? Well me and friends want to go camping soon (tent and making our own food and everything) and we play at staying at a campground. Aside from the tent, first aid kit, and food and all that, are there any other items that is essential to bring along in this camping trip? Any tips?
What would be in a First Aid Kit for a dance studio? I'm currently in a dance group and am experiencing several injuries. Mostly sores and sprains, and I think that it will be wise to have a First Aid Kit available when needed. Can I have some advice on what should be in it? I'm also co-organizing a dance camp and I think that each group leader should have a miniature First Aid Kit for basic stuff like small cuts and bruises, or something that they can use to help with the injury until our medic arrives. They will be needing to use this kit for 3 days. The group leader should, perferably, be able to administer to bruises, various muscle aches, slight cuts and minor stuff like that. Each group will consist about 5 - 8 people. And also, I will need advice on the First Aid Kit for our medic. What should be in his box to prepare for anything that can happen during a camp?
I would like to take my two kids camping, for the first time, what should I bring other than a tent? I have two kids, ages 8 and 9. I am a single mom. I bought a tent and would like to take them camping, but am unsure of the types of things I should bring. I know the basics, tent, blankets, first aid kit, food, insect repellent. But I'm looking to do this for as cheaply as possible. Here is what we have so far, blankets, pillows, tent, and even transportation to and from a camping site, we've got bottles to fill with water, and even some sparklers for fun. Any ideas? I'm sure I could come up with a list on my own, but I'd prefere to get suggestions from people who have already been there and done that. Thanks in advance I've decided to go to a camp grounds, especially where it is our first time. I'd like to go for three days. It will cost me about 120 bucks {still looking for cheaper} So far all the suggesstions are awsome, and informative. I'm learning a great deal. I am also going to try to convince another adult to come to so that I can sit back and relax.
HIV through first aid procedures? I have a question. I'm 15 and several months ago I was at a summer education camp and we took a trip to a park. While there, another student cut/scraped his arm and there was visible blood but it wasn't serious. Being me, a certified EMS First Responder offered to clean the scrape/cut and there weren't any latex gloves in the first aid kit. So I went ahead and tore open an alcohol pad and cleansed the area. I'm not sure if any blood got on my finger tips and if it did, it was very little. I assume the alcohol from the pad would have killed the HIV virus if that student did have HIV. Anyway, afterwards I realized that there was the risk of HIV and washed my hands with a moist towelette. Now I'm paranoid as hell. I don't really want a test because I don't want my parents to suspect I'm having sex (I'm a virgin). But my main question is, is it possible to contract HIV in this situation? Just to let you know, I'm also scared to death.
Do you have a first aid kit for your dog?? Even if you have an emergency vet, do you know what to do immediately if you're somewhere with your dog and he/she gets injured or sick? I am out lots of times camping or hiking where it would take me over an hour to get back to any kind of civilization and have to be prepared even then. Do you have any kind of system to help your pet immediately if they do get hurt? Oh no.... I have one for myself.. This is what first helped me http://www.petplace.com/dogs/first-aid-kit-for-dogs/page1.aspx Oh great Hello Sunshine. Thanks for the link. I'm going to compare yours to mine...... yours is way more detailed and I think I need to add stuff!! Thanks Amerz.... that's another great link I'm keeping!

I was bit by a something while sleeping on a camping trip, does anyone know what it might have been? I woke in the middle of the night and under my arm was on fire! I could never locate the actual bite, but under my arm and a little ways down my side was very red and burning like sunburn. It wasn't really swollen much, just inflamed. It hurt really bad for several days & then started to feel almost scaley like snakeskin. Then, just like sunburn, it peeled but very thin - just like snake skin. I never did find any dead spiders or bugs. A Park Ranger said he thought it might have been a spider & gave me some stuff out of his first aid kit. Now, almost two weeks later it still feels a little itchy & my skin looks darker there. Does anyone have any knowledge that might lead to me finding out what could have bit me? Thanks.
With a rough estimate how much would it cost me to walk the entire Appalachian Trail? I'm young and in great shape, and planning on hiking the trail as fast and cheap as possible. I'm counting on completing the trail in about 3 months. I'm guessing I'm gonna need the following: backback, bivi, sleeping bag, clothes, food, compass, first aid kit, palm pilot(for taking pics, listening to music, and using as a trail journal), compact camping stove, cookware, small survival kit, knife, fire starter, water bladder w/ hose, and a water purification system, oh and maybe one of those portable shower things. Do you think I need a portable shower thing, what else did I forget? How often are their resupply points to buy more food and stuff(i don't want to mail anything)? How much should it cost me if I don't buy anything along the way except resupply, and It takes me 3 months to complete?

What are some camping necessities that need to be taken when going on a camping trip? I haven't been camping since I was ten years old. I would love to plan a camping trip with my family here in AZ. I know some necessities to take along, but I do not know where to start in planning this trip. There will be no hiking involved. I have a four year old son, and really all I want to do is go camping in the woodsy areas, go exploring with my son, and stay overnight. I know we will have to rent a camping trailer to sleep in since we don't have that. But, what other camping gear will I need besides "OFF" for bugs, and a First Aid Kit? What are good inexpensive cooking items I can take along? And, have you ever been camping in AZ? Where did you go? Any helpful hints would be fabulous! Thanks so much! Ms.Crazy Luvs You: That was hillarious and SO TRUE! Thanks for that very helpful hint! I forgot all about that one! LOL

What should I take on a biking holiday? It's in the summer, with a friend, for about two weeks. I'm going to sleep in hostels or camp out. Can you think of anything less so obvious I should take with me? What should I take to eat? (remember, two weeks) I can't carry too much, as I'll be on a bike and I can think of all the obvious things - bike, sleeping bag, bike repair kit, first aid kit etc. I'll give best answer to either the most innovative, unexpected, unusual YET HELPFUL idea, or the longest useful list. Thank you!
What to get the mountain hiker who has everything? ? I need a gift idea for an avid mountain hiker and camper. He doesn't rock climb, just scrambles. He hikes to remote places and camps, usually 2-3 day hikes. He has all the basics (good quality) backpack, basic Garmin GPS, tent, poles, boots, first aid kit, etc. So I need an idea that goes beyond those basics.

Myanmar junta hands out aid boxes with generals' names. Your thoughts? 42 minutes ago YANGON, Myanmar - Myanmar's military regime distributed international aid Saturday but plastered the boxes with the names of top generals in an apparent effort to turn the relief effort for last week's devastating cyclone into a propaganda exercise. The United Nations sent in three more planes and several trucks loaded with aid, though the junta took over its first two shipments. The government agreed to let a U.S. cargo plane bring in supplies Monday, but foreign disaster experts still were being barred entry. Despite international appeals to postpone a referendum on a controversial proposed constitution, voting began Saturday in all but the hardest hit parts of the country. With voters going to the polls, state-run television continuously ran images of top generals including junta leader, Senior Gen. Than Shwe, handing out boxes of aid at elaborate ceremonies. "We have already seen regional commanders putting their names on the side of aid shipments from Asia, saying this was a gift from them and then distributing it in their region," said Mark Farmaner, director of Burma Campaign UK, which campaigns for human rights and democracy in the country. "It is not going to areas where it is most in need," he said in London. State media say 23,335 people died and 37,019 are missing from Cyclone Nargis, which submerged entire villages in the Irrawaddy delta. International aid organizations say the death toll could climb to more than 100,000 as conditions worsen. The U.N. estimated that 1.5 million to 2 million people have been severely affected and has voiced concern about the disposal of bodies. With phone lines down, roads blocked and electricity networks destroyed, it is nearly impossible to reach isolated areas in the delta, complicated by the lack of experienced international aid workers and equipment. The junta has refused to grant access to foreign experts, saying it will only accept donations from foreign charities and governments, and then will deliver the aid on its own. Despite such obstacles, the U.N. refugee agency sent its first aid convoy by land into Myanmar on Saturday and began airlifting a 110 tons of shelter supplies from its warehouse in Dubai, it said. Two trucks carrying more than 20 tons of tents and plastic sheets for some 10,000 cyclone victims crossed into the country from northwestern Thailand, said the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. "This convoy marks a positive step in an aid effort so far marked by challenges and constraints," said Raymond Hall, UNHCRs Representative in Thailand. "We hope it opens up a possible corridor to allow more international aid to reach the cyclone victims." A total of 23 international agencies were providing aid to people in the devastated areas, said Elisabeth Byrs, spokeswoman for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. But a large number of organizations still were awaiting government clearance for more aid shipments, staff and transport. "It's a race against the clock," Byrs said. "If the humanitarian aid does not get into the country on a larger scale, there's the risk of a second catastrophe," she said, adding that people could die from hunger and diseases. Health experts have warned there was a great risk of diarrhea and cholera spreading because of the lack of clean drinking water and sanitation. Farmaner suggested that aid be delivered to the country, also known as Burma, even if the regime does not give its permission. "We have had a week to convince the regime to behave reasonably, and they are still blocking aid," he said. "So the international community needs to wake up and take bolder steps." However, aid providers are unlikely to pursue unilateral deliveries like airdrops because of the diplomatic firestorm that it could set off. So far, relief workers have reached 220,000 cyclone victims, only a small fraction of the number of people affected, the Red Cross said Friday. Three Red Cross aid flights loaded with shelter kits and other emergency supplies landed Friday without incident. The international Red Cross sent 31 tons of relief goods from Geneva Friday evening, including pumps, generators, water tanks and other water treatment equipment, as well as basic health care for about 10,000 people and surgery material, according to spokesman Marcal Izard. The shipment was designated for those in labor camps and prisons, he said. He said the agency planned to distribute the aid in coordination with the Myanmar Red Cross, which is the leading relief agency in Myanmar. The government seized two planeloads of high-energy biscuits — enough to feed 95,000 people — sent by the U.N. World Food Program. Despite the seizure, the WFP was sending three more planes Saturday from Dubai, Cambodia and Italy, even though those could be confiscated, too. "We are working around the clock with the authorities to ensure the kind of access that we need to ensure it goes to people that need it most," WFP spokesman Marcus Prior said in Bangkok, Thailand. Richard Horsey, a spokesman for U.N. humanitarian operations, said an international presence is needed in Myanmar to look at the logistics of getting boats, helicopters and trucks into the delta area. "That's a critical bottleneck that must be overcome at this point," he said in Bangkok. Heavy rain forecast in the next week was certain to exacerbate the misery. Diplomats and aid groups warned the number of dead could eventually exceed 100,000 because of illnesses and said thousands of children may have been orphaned. Survivors from one of the worst-affected areas, near the town of Bogalay, were among those fighting hunger, illness and wrenching loneliness. "All my 28 family members have died," said Thein Myint, a 68-year-old fisherman who wept while describing how the cyclone swept away the rest of his family. "I am the only survivor." Officials have said only one out of 10 people who are homeless, injured or threatened by disease and hunger have received some kind of aid since the cyclone hit May 3. The government's abilities are limited. It has only a few dozen helicopters, most of which are small and old. It also has about 15 transport planes, primarily small jets unable to carry hundreds of tons of supplies. "Not only don't they have the capacity to deliver assistance, they don't have experience," said Farmaner, the British aid worker. "It's already too late for many people. Every day of delays is costing thousands of lives." I know this is a lengthy article but it's worth the read. We sometimes complain about our government here in the States. At least we're not ran by a military junta or military dictatorship. Myanmar's Junta are no better than crimminals.
What is stored under your bed? 2 wooden oars, first aid kit, roller blades, a fold-up camping chair and a suitecase of photos are under mine. See my profile if you find this strange. I keep my priced possessions within reach.

The Woodlands, Texas and Ike? I recently moved to The Woodlands, TX. With hurricane Ike on its way I'm just curious about what I should do to prepare. I already went to the grocery store and stocked up on water, canned foods, batteries, etc. I also got out some camping supplies like flashlights, propane stove, ice chest, first aid kits. I put all of our patio furniture inside the garage. Since my garage is full of moving boxes, i parked my cars in a line against my house so if a tree falls the house blocks it from hitting the cars. Any other suggestions?

Going Hiking Tomorrow! What do I need? I'm doing something called 'Operation Escape' with Scouts, where we go hiking alone in Cleveland for three days and try to avoid being 'captured' by the leaders. It'll just be me and my boyfriend hiking and camping together, so I'm worried that we might forget something. We've got a sleeping bag, tent, first aid kit, food, torch and a stove ect. Is there anything else I might need?
Do you think this Boy Scout is right? I'm a pretty experienced camper, or at least I THOUGHT I was. I'm 17, and I've been camping almost by myself since I was about 14. I was always too poor to afford Boy Scouts, so I had to learn alot of stuff on my own. I like going camping with just the basic stuff (water, boots, knife, fist aid kit, etc.) I even forgo things like a tent most of the time, cause I like sleeping out under the stars. I've taken the time to learn first-aid, and ways to survive with little to no supplies. My problem is that I seem to be a "hate magnet" fo my friends folks. This one time it was alot colder than I expected, and I froze, but that was MY fault. But this other time, my friends dad said I was an idiot, and I didn't know what I was doing, and HE did, because he was a Boy Scout leader. He said I was an idiot for wanting to take as little as possible when camping. You'd figure that if I didn't know what I was doing, I would've died sometime over these past 3 years. Do you think there is something wrong with camping this way? I don't know, maybe I am wrong, and am an idiot. Camping is just bout the only thing I figured I was good at though.
Is there anything I'm missing from this cammping list My friends and I are taking our horses camping in about a week. Its a horse and Mule camp and they have over 80 miles of trails. Its a 5 hour ride there, and there is a store on site with things you might forget last minute. This is what I plan on taking, am I missing anything? Horse Saddle Saddle Pad Bridle Halter Lead Rope Feed Hay Buckets Grooming Supplies First aid Kit Treats Me Clothes Helmet Food Drinks Towels Linens Firt-aid Kit Truck Trailer Money Cell Phone Of course I'll have the girth, its already attached to the saddle. And the place we are going is going to have little corrals set up for the horses for 6 dollars a night. Its actually a great price for a cabin. We are going to Fort Valley Hore and Mule Camp in VA. And there will be water there our horses aren't picky about where their water comes from

Desert Survival Skills? You are on a holiday to Las Vegas. After arriving at Los Angeles International Airport, you boarded a small, 20-seater airplane for the short 2-hour flight to Las Vegas. It is about 10am in the middle of summer and you 20-seater airplane has just crash landed in the Sonora desert in the southwestern United States. The pilot did not survive the crash when the plane crash landed and burned. However, you and your entire tour group from Singapore survived the crasn and except for some minor bruises, everyone is safe. Your tour leader recalled that the pilot could not contact anyone on the radio just before the crash. However, the pilot did mention that you were about 150km south-southwest from an old mining camp, which is the nearest place you might seek for help. You heard the pilot said that your plane was approximately 120km off the course that was filed in your VFR (visual flight rules) Flight Plan. The area around the crash site is quite flat and, except for a few cactus plants, does not have any other trees or greenery. The last weather report you heard on the plane's radio said that the temperature would be around 40 degrees Celsius. This, the pilot said, would mean that the temperature on the ground would be about 45 degrees Celsius. You all are wearing light summer clothing with sandals or sneakers. Everyone has a handkerchief. All together, your group has US$75 in bills, US$5.80 in coins, a packet of cigarettes and a ballpoint pen. Before the plane caught fire after crashing, your group was able to save the following 14 items: Flashlight (4-battery type) Sectional air map of the area Plastic raincoat (large) Magnetic compass First aid kit with bandages 9mm pistol with 15 rounds Parachute (red & white) 1000 salt tablets 1 litre of water each Book titled "Edible Animals of the Desert" A pair of sunglasses each 2 litres of Vodka 100% proof 1 overcoat each A small mirror Rank the above 14 items according to what you think is their importance for your survival. Start with number 1 for the "Most Important" item and end with number 14 for the "Least Important" item.

What's the nicest, but most creative, gift that you've ever recieved for your birthday? Yesterday, I had my "Guitar Hero get-together" for my birthday. Two of my friends got me cards wtih $20 each and another friend got me The Sims 2: Free Time. But I was most impressed with another gift, in which my friend called the Band Survival Kit. She got a little crate, in which she put the "survival" objects inside and a little card. On the inside of the card she wrote... 1. Blanket- for those cold nights and bus rides home. 2. Brownie Mix- So you have something yummy to make [NO EXTRA INGREDIENTS PLEASE! (Pot)] ---Yeah, someone made pot brownies last year in band and got caught. 3. Book- So you don't die of boredom on the bus rides. 4. Black Socks- So T. won't yell at you for wearing white ones. ---T. or Mr. T. or Mr. Tobias is or band director. 5. Band aids- Because you always hurt yourself. 6. Ibuprofen- So you can get rid of those annoying headaches from Skye's voice =]. ---Skye is a girl who is "perfect" (NOT) and thinks she's the Section Leader. 7. Head Phones-To tune out T. and Skye!!! 8. Water- So you don’t die from dehydration at Band Camp. 9. Hand warmers- So you don’t have freezing hands in November! So have you ever gotten a really nice, creative gift?

What to take horse camping? We were thinking about going horse camping this weekend at a state park. I know to bring weather appropriate clothing, first aid kit, feed/hay, buckets, tack, coggins papers etc. But I did have a few specific questions, and any extra suggestions about your horse camping practices would be great! What food do you bring for yourself that you find easy to fix? Do you feed your horses out of hay bags, hay nets, or on the ground? How do you secure your horses for the night? I can't remember what they're called... but do you use the overhead lines? Do you have to bring your own line and if so, is it just a rope, or do you have to buy something special? Would it be wise to call the park in advance to make sure the trails aren't too muddy etc? Do you bring your own firewood? Odd question... How safe have you found campsites to be? It's been a hot minute since I've been camping at a public place and I was worried about our things being stolen while we are out riding etc. We will be sleeping in a tent, our horse trailer doesn't have a lockable tack room, and I know all of our stuff wont fit inside the cab of the pickup. How worried should I be about our things being stolen? Also, we were hoping to go fishing for a bit... we wont be able to leave the horses unattended will we? Thanks!
Is my camping chuck box pretty complete? This is what I currently have in our chuck box: paper towels TP citronella candles LED lantern flashlights book of matches newspaper for fires cooking utensils- spatula, knife, tongs, spoon, fork silverware cups sun block 200 piece first aid kit bowls plates straws aluminum foil ziplock bags trash bags napkins baby wipes clorox wipes card games cooking seasonings bread toaster- the one you put over the flames, not an actual toaster! cooking spray scissors corn stabbers can opener bottle opener dish sponge dish soap We have a 5 gallon water jug, it just doesn't fit into the chuck box. Are there any items that I am missing? Any suggestions to what else to add?? Please & Thanks!! My cooking utensils are definitely metal, we went camping last year and I melted a spatula so I have already learned THAT lesson! The sterno fuel is a fantastic idea! I will definitely add one of those to the box! Thanks for the answers guys!! I also have a frying pan! Can't believe I forgot that! You have to understand that I am female and do need things to clean up with (baby wipes, clorox wipes, ect..). I have all of this stuff in a 25 gallon heavy duty Rubbermaid tub, and since I can lift it, it isn't too heavy.
Have anyone ever gone camping completely on horseback? My fiance and I want to go camping with our horses, but we don't want to take a horse trailer seeing as how we pretty much want to go just right in our own backyard (NV). We know the items we need to take versus the items we want to take. I'm just concerned as to how everything will be packed. There will be 2 people, 2 horses, and 3 dogs (medium/large dogs) Obviously we need the necessities (tent, change of clothes, food for horses and dogs, we plan to fish at the lake we want to camp at, and all 3 dogs wil be equipped with their own packs to carry their food, rope for a high line, etc.) I was wondering if there were special packs, besides cantle and horn bag, that can be on the horse along with the rider. Something like a sawbuck saddle and pack, but be able to ride at the same time. I don't want it to be heavy just have enough storage for items such as the clothes, small camp grill or a grate, first aid kit (for people, horses, and dogs) and anything else I or you can think of. Thank you ~Rachel~
What do I need to bring camping? im going camping for one night and 2 days for my friends party. What do i need to bring? nothing like first aid kits or knives, stuff like how much clothes ETC. thanks :) x

Things to take for the beach and camping? At the end of July I'll be going for a weekend with a large group of friends to the beach. Obviously I'll need to take a swimming costume, towel, suncream. I'll also be taking a first aid kit and me and my friend are both trained first aiders. But what else would you recommend we take? I don't want to end up miles from home and unprepared.

How can I get an EpiPen for my first aid kit? I would like to get an EpiPen (epinephrin auto-injector) for my first aid kit but I don't have a prescription. I am only interested in legal ways of getting one. Perhaps someone knows of a company in another country that doesn't require a prescription and that ships to the United States. I want one because I have never been stung by a bee and I don't want to find out that I'm allergic while I'm camping in the middle of nowhere. It also seems to be a good thing to keep around in case someone unknowingly eats shellfish, peanuts, etc. and doesn't have their own EpiPen with them. Or, would it be possible for me to get a prescription because my father is allergic to bees? Thanks for any help.
What all do I need for a camping trip? This weekend I'm going camping with some friends. We all are in our early mid 20's and we haven't really gone camping on our own. What all do i need to bring. I already have a tent, sleeping bag, cooler, first aid kit. hot dogs, bbq, beer. and all that good stuff. But besides the main stuff what should I bring, and like what to do when were are not hiking or on the lake.
How do i fix this writing and make it better, more publishable? I grinned as I walked to the car lugging my three large duffle bags, my mum laughed, she had already told me I had too much stuff with me, when she had seen me packing she'd rolled her eyes and reminded me I was only going away for half a month- and to Maine. Not Barcelona or Russia so to put away all of my stuff. My youngest brother had reminded me that I was not going alone- so to put away the survival and first aid kits, my sister had reminded me to pack something nice, tight and short, along with numerous overpriced perfumes, a good bit of makeup and a razor, I pouted theatrically but laughed and tossed in all the cosmetics and beautification products I had accumulated over the years, courtesy of their "generosity" into my bag of toiletries- which courtesy of my eldest brother's ignorance was way over proportioned, a fact which for the first time I was resentful of. My twin brother, Eric and my older brother Jeremy who were coming with me reminded me to bring food, tents, rope, sleeping bags, and bed sheets. I laughed but didn't object when they added to my packages. So now I was the only one with three bags, and even then all of the cloth was in vacuum bags. Jeremy walked past me, and in one fluid motion took all my bags and threw them at Eric, who was arranging everything in the back of our Cousin Jamie’s truck. Jamie came at me from around and wrapped me up in a bear hug, my face was immersed in his rolling muscles so I didn't see the bags hit Eric, but I heard a heavy metallic thud and his furious, rather obscene exclamation. As soon as all the bags were in the back our youngest brother Ingo came rushing out of the house carrying all of my survival kits, fishing net, his walkie talkies, and a knife. Jamie arched an eyebrow. "I thought you maybe would need this because you're a girl," Conner explained "What girl uses a knife?" "If she can beat Jeremy at halo wars and beat up Troy she can use a knife" Ingo informed Jamie solemnly. I groaned. Three hours in, and we had stopped at three rest stops because they wanted to get soda to drink and to store. At this rate we would end up at our destination the day we were due back. But when I mentioned this the guys complained that they had known it would be a bad idea to bring me. Therefore, when we pulled into the driveway of the main office of the camping community a long time after dusk I was the only whose bladder was not on the verge of spontaneously combusting, and I relished in this fact, making bathroom jokes, turning on cd's of rainfall and noisily slurping my water bottle. So of course as soon as the car stopped they all took off as though the devil's hounds were at their heels and left me to carry all nine overstuffed duffle bags along with a lifetimes supply of soda to the office so that we could get the keys to our cabin. I grabbed my three bags and a bottle of soda first, and the breath was knocked out of me as I swung my third bag onto my back. I staggered a few steps in the dark toward the towering beacon of the lone lamppost outside the office I took another step- and collapsed. As I struggled to get up a polite cough from the side made me jump. I struggled with the button on my cargoes and pulled out a flashlight and my knife. The boy who had witnessed my pathetic demise raised his arms in a symbol of peace and chuckled-"got anything else in there little girl?" he asked, his voice was compelling, teasing. I glared "oh come on now, I meant to ask- I meant to ask you-" he paused again. "Meant to ask me what, If I needed help? Well I don't" I retorted A smile was in his voice as he replied- “Well now actually I was going to ask what kind of moron makes a- how old are you?" "15" "16. Well a fifteen year old girl carry a truckload all the way over there" he pointed to the beacon. I waved a couple empty soda bottles at him "... And I presume you're the smart one who didn't partake.?..." I laughed grudgingly. It was funny how he let his sentences hang. "and after that" he continued, clearly satisfied with my reaction "after that I was going to ask if I could help you- and whack them over the heads with one of those... I'm assuming it's more than one?" he queried I held up three fingers and made a face. He winced theatrically, causing me to laugh again. I gestured toward the truck bed, and grabbed a full two liters of coke and handed it to him. He grinned infectiously, and I had to join in. "I will put this to good use, and thus avenge thane slavery lady..." "Juliet-Ennalise" "Jason" "araganots?" I asked as we walked toward the office each carrying two bags and weilding a bottle of soda. "Yeah, and you?" "Shakespeare" "I'll have to reread him; I thought I'd memorized all of the plays" "Excuse me?" "I don't remember an ennalise in Romeo and Juliet" I opened my mouth to reply but at that moment indigo came loping over to us and took my bags. He motioned toward the truck. And I jogged off to get two more. When I opened t
Can clorox be useful in a first aid kit? For example, if you get a minor cut on a camping trip, and it becomes infected, can clorox be used as first aid in the wilderness, to keep it from getting worse till you can get medical attention? If so, what are the side effects? Would it be painful? What other first aid products would do a better job with less side effects?
What does a puppy need to go camping? I am taking my puppy out for the first time camping for about 5 hours. We are going on a trail and I am just wondering how much water and food to take. Should I also take a blanket and I am also really scared if she steps on something sharp. Is there anyway I can protect her little paws? If not, is there such thing as a dog first aid kit? And what if she starts bleeding? What should I do? I am not carrying her cause she hates being carried. Thanks!

What should I bring if I take my horse camping? Because I am bound to forget something, I always like having a list of things I need to take/buy/just have lol. And like other's opinions. So anyways, my boyfriend and I were talking about taking the horses and going camping now that we have a trailer (yay!), so I was wondering what all I'd need to take. For the horses, I don't care so much about myself lol. I already know/have: ~Hay ~Water buckets ~A hose ~First aid kit ~Grooming kit ~Some sort of tie-line ~Extra halters/leads But, I know I'm forgetting stuff, 'cause that's an awfully short list. So, what else would you guys suggest to take, either because it's absolutely necessary, or because it makes life easier? And, I had another question, but can't remember it now. Guess I'll be back later lol.

What are some human meds you can give to a dog? We're making an animal first aid kit because we're going on a long hiking/camping trip this weekend, and I need to know what (if any) human meds you can give a dog (she's about 60lbs) if something were to happen - god forbid it does, but we wanna be prepared. Something for pain, something like Benadryl to stop bug bites, etc. etc.. All that good stuff. Thanks in advance.
I'm camping for 3 days. What should I bring? (checklist?)? Going up to ocean cove, in northern california. My friend's family will be providing food as far as i know. A question on how much this camping gear would cost? A small first aid kit, one that would attach to a survival belt A big first aid kit that covers mostly every injury or problem A survival belt a sleeping bag rated to 0 degrees a 6 inch blade hunting knife a strong strong hatchet standard long lasting fishing gear a wood and glass laminated 30 pound pull bow 25 feild arrows, like ones you can get at target but better 75 broadhead arrows, already put together two pans both cant get burned but arent iron one can boil water, like for soup and one basically flat like for fried eggs and thats about it tell me how much each of them would cost individual, you dont have to answer all of them but thanks
Is there anywhere in Summit County, Colorado to get help if your camping out and low on funds? My sister and I recently camp up here to go on a camping expadition after my mother died and we are a little short on some of the things that we need, we didn't realize that so much stuff was required to survive and we desperatly need a helping hand. I am 22 and she is 18 and we were left with basically nothing so we have made a list and someone suggested I post it here on Criagslist to see if anyone in the area might be able to help. We would greatly appricate the help, it doesn't matter that the items are used as long as they are still in useable shape. So here is the list we have come up with: *camping stove and mini fuel tanks *hiking backpack *extra blankets *2 pair black sweatpants (size XL) *wool socks, snow caps and gloves *D and AA cell batteries *a pot/pan to cook on *any food items we could boil and cook in water anything that might be good for that food wise would be a big help *long john shirts and pants (both XL) *femine hygine products (i.e. Tampons) *hand pump for air matteress *walkie talkies so we can stasy in touch if seperated since we've have discovered its fairly easy to get lost out here *2 pair of womans shoes both size 8.5 maybe something good for snow and walking, ours have holes *a small first aid kit as I have already hurt myself on accident once since we arrived. If you can help us with any of these items it would be a great help becasue we were left with pretty much nothing. We came up here and spent the little money we had on Ramen noodle, a small tent, one sleeping bag and a light and a gallon for water, but that is basically about it aside from the little shirts we came with. So abny help would be greatly appricated. We also can do small odd jobs to earn money until we find a more permanent job out here, because we have learned very quickly a little monwey goes a long way. We have been here for 5 days now, and it gets fairly cold at night so anything will help. Feel free to email me and leave a phone number if you can he4lp and I will call you with my calling card since I no longer have a working cell phone. Thank you so much again. Lauren and Hope

I've never gone camping before but im going with my friends this weekend So heres whats going down lemme know if im forgetting anything or if you have any tips we're teenagers with an adult with us We have a tent, in the foresty area with a lake, canned food, matches (campfire) sleepingbags shoes pillows etc. water, first aid kit, fishing poles, camera Need anything else? any tips/warnings?
What should I do with my hiking/camping equipment while in college? Things like backpacks, waterbottles, first-aid kits etc..... I am not worried about. But I am worried that equipment such as knives, hatchets, lighters (the "dangerous" stuff) will cause problems because I will live in on-campus housing. Does anyone know of any rules that specifically prevent me from bringing this kind of stuff into a dorm room? Any New York State laws that prevent this kind of stuff from being on campus? I really like hiking, and there is even an outdoors club on campus, but I wouldn't feel prepared for a hike in REAL wilderness without that gear.
What to put in a first-aid kit? I need to make a first-aid kit with things around the house (we can't purchase anything for it) and unfortunately i forgot my booklet with the list of things and examples for it in my locker at school. I need to put it together for this evening, and I have no idea what to put in it? it needs to have everything you would put in an outdoor kit (like if you were to go camping with it).
What do I need to put in a first aid kit? I'm going away for 2 days walking and one night camping with a group and I'm in charge of taking the first aid kit. I've never done it before but I have a ruff idea of what to put in but can anyone tell me the basics and maybe a few extras?
How do I survive during the apocalypse tomorrow? If I read the news reports right, earthquakes will hit hwere there are no fault lines and society will break down. I've packed my go-bag with food and water, camping gear, first aid-kit, hand crank radio, my tool box, silver coins, and a gun and some ammo. I'll hike up to a mountain ridge tomorrow afternoon and set up camp. Am I good? Did I forget anything?
First Time On Plane: Things I cannot bring? Hi, I'm about to make my first trip out of the country (to Guatemala), let alone on a plane, for a 2-week trip. We have to pack as tight as possible. I have some questions about things I CAN and CANNOT put in a checked luggage. 1.) My checked luggage is a duffel bag. Inside of it, I have a smaller bag for clothes and am using a shoe box (without the cover) to hold my personal hygiene chemicals (which I have all wrapped in a bag). QUESTION: Is Security likely to give me a hassle because I am using a shoe box? 2.) Is it okay for me to bring a complete bottle of shampoo (13.5 fl oz), facial soap/body wash (5oz), and aloe vera gel (6oz)? 3.) This is a list of the other personal hygiene products that I am bringing, excluding those in #2. Please let me know what items may prove problematic, or you suggest I put in my carry-on: *2 insect repellants (1fl oz/each) *a bottle of water purifying tablets unopened and still in its case *a case with a nail clipper, a tweezer, safety pins, and paper clips *deodorant (.5oz) *a small case of camp soap sheets *first aid kit *face-cleaning towelettes *a body pouf in a sandwich ziplock bag *a bag of mint flossups *toothbrush and case holder *a bottle of sunscreen (6fl oz) *a water bottle with filter *a battery-run fan *2 disposable razors *toothpaste (4.6 oz) *6-inch flashlight with case 4.) Do I HAVE TO put my digital camera batteries in my carry-on? Anything else I should know, on the top of your mind? Thanks all! :)
what to pack for a first aid kit for camping? I going to buy some instant ice packs, burn gel, bandages, neosporin, some alcohol pads. I was wondering what else might need their a group of nine people going three kids 3,8,and 9. I need any ideas possible.
Going camping for 3 days, what should I bring? Spending three nights in the woods with two of my friends from school. I'm not entirely sure what I should bring since I've never gone camping before. I bought a 75lb hiking backpack but I'm trying to keep it around 50-60lbs because we're going to be doing a lot of hiking. This is what I have packed so far- One change of clothes, 4 layers that I'll be wearing Waterproof boots Map and Compass Bear pepper spray Water filtration system Tent Hatchet & camping knife First aid kit 0 degree sleeping bag w/ extra throw blanket And of course things like tooth paste, food, water, etc. What lighting source should I bring, flint & tinder, waterproof matches? We're going to be camping in Washington, near the Oregon boarder if that matters with what to pack. But other than that, what else should I put on my list?

things to prepare for a camping trip? I'm taking a few of my riding students on a camping trip down by the creek/river (small river), only about a 15-minute ride from the barn (at a canter). I know all of the horses and riders very well. I have a list of things that I need/have, but am I missing anything? Also what are some things that I should watch out for and expect? (like wild animals, etc). Also, each rider (including myself) will be on their own horse, and have signed waivers, etc. The barn owner is all gung-ho about this xD Here's my list: • backpack (each rider will bring their own) • food (hotdogs, buns, etc) *if there's leftover food, we're going to throw it in the river. JUST the food, no wrappers. We're going to burn the wrappers. • water bottles galore! • flashlights (one for each rider plus two extra) • batteries • cellphones and ALL emergency contacts for each rider and myself • Blankets (at LEAST 2 per rider, its going to be cold!) • Blankets for the horses, if we can store them! xP • Extra halters and leads • back-up headstalls (if one were to break) • 2 tents (will be set up ahead of time) • change of clothes • extra shoes/riding boots • buckets for each horse to eat in AM • each horse will have a bag of their feed prepared for the AM • first-aid kits for both humans and horses (mini-kit, haha) * there is an area to tie the horses up. * also I was thinking about chaining all the saddles to a tree just to be safe, to prevent theft (highly unlikely, but rather be safe than get over $1,000 worth of saddles stolen) * I'm going to be sacrificing my sleep (xD) and waking up every hour or so to check on the horses, tack, riders, etc. We probably will only sleep for a few hours anyways. * I also have an EXTREMELY loud keychain alarm that I might bring, to use only if absolutely necessary. * also the entire area is fenced in one way or another (by natural boundaries or by fence), so if by some circumstance a horse were to get loose, it couldn't really get too far. Am I missing anything? (I'm probably missing something really important). I probably sound super-protective, but I just really want to be prepared and safe. This is going to be really fun, but since I am in charge, I want to be prepared! thank you guys! and how could I forget pillows?! haha! also I am bringing a brush and a couple of hoofpicks, since there are some rocks on the trails that lead to the river. I am so excited! :) we're staying on my barn owner's property, and he told me to burn the wrappers and throw food in the river. The racoons or other wild critters will eat it up, but they're might not even be any leftovers. He wants us to do that to keep the critters away as much as possible. :) And we're bringing feeding buckets; we won't be returning to the barn until much after feeding time, and all of our horses (especially my horse) are on a strict schedule. Plus, my boy will get grumpy if I don't feed him his breakfast xD Note- the river isn't "swimmable" haha, it's kinda mucky. Hardly anyone swims in it. I mean during the summer you could swim in some of the areas, but its too cold now to swim. The food would've been eaten by an animal or something before swimming time comes around.
hauling horses out for camping? what to take? My friend and i are FINALLY hauling out to go camping! im so freaking excited! so its going to be 2 for sure possibly 3 horses they will be stalled at the camp site. im takeing a spare halter for eatch and extra rains. Now my horse is a pasture horse and is currently on a round bail how many bails should i take for him? i was thinking just 4 flakes a day for him should be fine so could i get away w/ 1 bail for both horses (my boy gets alfalfa cubes as it it could i get away with just feeding alfalfa to him instead of hauling hay?)? i am of cource packing my grain. i always carry bute just in case and will be taking a basic horse first aid kit. what else do i need for the horses?! http://www.alfalfa.org/pdf/Alfalfa%20for%20Horses%20(low%20res).pdf point here you can find pros and cons towards any feed type!
What do I bring on a camping? My school scouts team(which I'm entering) is going on a camping at a forest for 5days and 4nights. This will be my second time going camping. The first time is when I was 5years old so I don't know a thing about camping(but the teacher said she will help me) Anyway, my teacher didn't said what to bring because she's busy making preparation so I want to know what to bring. How many shirts and trousers I have to pack? What first aid kit I should bring and what in it? Please Help!!! We are going in 6days so I don't have much time!
What could I cut from my camping bag? I'm doing my DofE, and though this may seem a slightly weird question, my bag was soooo heavy on my practice expedition, I'm wondering if anyone could help me cut some weight from it. I had: Hat Gloves Waterproof Coat 2x Fleeces 2x Spare Underwear 2x T-Shirts Shirt 2x Spare Socks Wash Kit Bowl Plate Cup Cutlery 5x Camping Food/ Rations Washing Up Kit Lightweight Tent Roll Mat Sleeping Bag Trangia w/ gas and converter First Aid Kit Sun Cream Water Purification Tablets Matches What things are unnecessary that I can take out to save weight. Please don't suggest buying new kit or remove something completely essential
